WNYP Alco C430's on the Salamanca Turn

  • Since the acquisition of the 8 GE AC6000's in late 2019, It's rare to see 4 axles on the Western New York & Pennsylvania Salamanca turn, but on Thursday 9/10/20, that is exactly what happened.
    Only 15 of these Alco C430's were ever produced, and WNYP owns most of the remaining active units. Built in 1967 for New York Central, WNYP 431 & WNYP 430 still are very much functional, pulling a larger-than-normal consist of 74 cars for the Buffalo & Pittsburgh RR.
