    seeing 30+ years old thumpers do what they do the best warms up my heart. while not "offroaders", they still handle some rough terrain quite well, given its size and weight im amazed they did it so good. im in process of restoring my 89 to its former glory, and keep yami Xt600e tracker for mild off roading.

    Not just "one of the first transcontinental highways", but THE first. :)
    There's nothing quite like riding those original dirt alignments of the Lincoln Highway and the Pony Express trails. Really puts you in touch with the past.
    Awesome vid.

    Awesome ride boys! Wish I could've tagged along. So much fun to see old history sites, mining towns, ghost towns and camping off of motorcycles in the wide open deserts. Thanks for making these great videos and having the adventures with the rest of us unlucky people who didn't get to tag along. Need me some Tusk cases for my KLR. Hook a brother up! Ride safe, see y'all on the trails.

      It looks like you do a lot of riding in Utah. Are you in Utah? We need to ride sometime!

    • @MrRojoneck
      @MrRojoneck 10 років тому

      Yes I do. Live in West Jordan, not too far away. Do a lot of riding everywhere pretty much. Ride sometime...yes we shall. Going to be doing a major makeover on my KLR pretty soon to turn it into the only murdered out machine of its kind. Once that project is done, I'm sure I'll be in the mood for Moab.

    big topic, Have any of you guys seen up close and personal an actual fail of the doohickey on a Gen 2 klr? Of all the hype of the doohickey, I've never heard or seen in person or on a video! Just your input?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 років тому

      Yes - many of them. I have replaced several in Gen 2 KLRs. While the doohickey itself looked fine, the little spring that keeps tension on it has either been broken or completely compressed (no tension on it). I am amazed Kawasaki went to the trouble to make the doohicky stronger in 2008 (all cast piece) without fixing the spring as well. Without a doubt, the first thing I would buy for a brand new, Gen 2 KLR (or any KLR650) would be the Eagle Mike doohickey with the torsion spring. - Justin

    Great Video!! How do you find the paths for which you decided to take... ?

  • @jasons44
    @jasons44 8 років тому

    klr650 got heavier with same h.p! and that was a disappointment for me. its find for a ride along, but we need a lightweight 500cc that you set camp, getting rid of your weight and hill climb a light weight cross between beta rr500s/ktm640 adv bike. and yes these would be for short trips but true enduro 55h.p 260lbs bike

  • @Mpike9268
    @Mpike9268 8 років тому +1

    When you guys go on rides like this, do you always keep it moving forward in the sense that you pack up camp each day and move on to another site? Just wondering if you ever take the bikes out for a day of exploring with out all of the gear loaded up.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  8 років тому

      We definitely enjoy both kinds of riding/camping. This spring we rode out to Death Valley. We camped along the way to get out there and then we set up camp in one of the campgrounds and rode 2 days without our gear. We then camped along the way to get home.

    How did you guys get those RMATVMC decals to stick to those plastic tanks??? And what LED lightbar is that above the headlight on that same bike? Thanks!!

      Rocky Mountain ATV MC How do you guy's fix a flat out there? I don't ride bikes and while i was watching the video of you guys going over some of those sharper looking rocks it's all i could think of :P.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  9 років тому +3

      Fieger Faust We go prepared with all the hand tools and spare tubes needed. The KLR's have a nice integrated center stand which makes it really convenient for getting the bike up off the ground to get the rear wheel off. It's all part of the fun! Thanks for checking out our video.

    • @Fiegerfaust
      @Fiegerfaust 9 років тому +1

      Ohh ok for some reason I thought they were tubeless. I have only really rode ATVs and I usually carried one of those fix a flat cans with me, but most of the time I would hump it back on the flat. Then again, I have never ridden in such remote places like that. Thanks for responding.

    Other than the very large, obnoxious and distracting logo in the lower-left corner, it was good content but I just got sick of that eye-sore, glaring, in my face. Bailing out at 02:00 ... Your prerogative, of course. Almost enjoyed it.
