    This used to one of my favorite Dimash performances when I discovered him on UA-cam, because of the emotion favored over the high notes, but he's already moved so far beyond that stage now. (You know what I mean). I still like to watch it, mind you. It's just that he raised the bar in 2019, apparently favoring appogio over belting, and singing songs that show he is working hard to dig closer to the octavist range, and perfecting his counter tenor voice. Chances are, he is going to improve always, and show the way.
    During early 2017, he covered a Chinese song called Autum Strong, and rightfully made it his own, without resorting to any acrobatics. If you watch / listen to it, it is good to have tissues handy. Trust me on that.. ua-cam.com/video/6iWO7uGnavI/v-deo.html

    In that 2017 Singer, almost every appearance he displayed something different. I love your reactions to him...it’s like you’re quietly singing with him! If you want to try another artist, another singer, from the Singer show, this time from 2018, is Hua Chenyu. He is 29, looks like he’s 18, but is a phenomenal singer, songwriter, and composer!

    I've watched tho compilation video that his fans made on early years of his performance:
    ua-cam.com/video/RcSJUWBvBss/v-deo.html
    Loved him for his smile n cuteness
    I still can't believe that a six octave man is very young and cute 😆
    I think he is more professional, more mature and serious now
    And I'm glad many people respect him
    But sometimes i miss his smile and his cuteness 😂

    He was already spectacular on this show and he keeps on improving if that's even possible. Dimash's work schedule was inhumanely hectic during this competition in early 2017, he was flying all over China (and kazakhstan n France once) to perform in between each episode. His father mentioned something like 78 flights in 42 days. During an interview his close friend also mentioned about he was made to perform challenging songs in 3 different cities via flight within the same day. So besides nervousness (more or less since it was a competitive), probably also exhaustion.

    • @VocalSplendorStudios
      @VocalSplendorStudios  5 років тому +7

      Thanks for the background information. It makes total sense. And yes, even experienced performers can get nervous, especially if he was exhausted. When you are exhausted and sleep deprived, singing becomes much more difficult and takes much more energy than usual.

    • @justwantthebestvoice7334

      @@VocalSplendorStudios yep, he eventually fell sick with high fever and throat infection and they gave him several (some said two some said four) steroid jabs into his throat so that he could continue to perform non stop. He has come a long way to be at where he is now.

      @@justwantthebestvoice7334, Just read the information you gave on my favorite singer Dimash to Vocal Splendor Studios and was appalled. He should be treated with kid gloves or he could God forbid end up like Elvis Presley, dead in his 40s. Don't ever imagine Dimash ever getting fat like Elvis though. Talent like his does not come around too often and I love how the singer adores his Father and family. Fame can change a person for the worse can't it?

    • @justwantthebestvoice7334
      @justwantthebestvoice7334 5 років тому +5

      @@lynettedevries1824 he had a contract (with his Chinese agency) to fulfil, and that tiny agency did not know how to manage his popularity back then. They ended up accepting every invitation and commercial deal that came his way. His father frequently flew to China to be with him, but I guess contract is contract and his father can't do much either. It seems like his contract with this chinese agency has gone from full time to more of an impromptu basis and he is now based more in Russia. His schedule, even though still very hectic, seems to be more manageable now. I believe his team has already found a way to balance between work and leisure so we shan't worry too much for him.
      Yes, he has lost alot of weight and was once as skinny as a bamboo but if u watch his recent videos, eg Ermei mountain in China or Muz award in Russia he has actually gained some weight. 😊

    Regarding the "head shaking" I think that it may have been some nerves, but Tara Simon (another vocal coach who does reactions here on UA-cam who also coached Angelica Hale for AGT) said that it may not have necessarily been bad technique or nerves, but the resonance being so high that his head involuntarily twitches. She explained it during his performance of Opera 2 from the same show - where he does it a few times towards the end when he's getting up into E6 range I think.
    As near-perfect as Dimash has been, and as well as he knows his own voice, I can't imagine he would've been that nervous this far into the competition. The straining I think was more a sign that he was focusing on the physical performance aspect of his song - which made the song very memorable beyond what even his vocals could do. He's a consummate artist who understands that singing is a performance art that requires you to do more than use your vocal chords.

      I'm not sure I agree with Tara, here. Tara is a great coach but I don't think she sings or coaches opera singers and she has only been teaching 10 years. I've been teaching 30 years and have whistle notes (Queen of the Night) and I've coached other professional opera singers, including professional counter tenors. The head shake is not needed to sing high notes with resonance. That said, his tone was still lovely and clear in spite of the shake. And I haven't seen this shake with his more recent performances.

    • @Woman2Watch
      @Woman2Watch 5 років тому +5

      Not at all. Another vocal coach explained it quite well when she said that the movement is totally involuntary. It's the resonance of the frequency with certain notes when done in a certain way. For example, if he'd done those notes in falsetto or soprano, you wouldn't see it. However, when he uses his mixed voice, it's not as evident. When you watch Opera 2, you'll notice it happens with his high notes, but there is absolutely no tension, as evidenced by the lack of the telltale sign of strain in the neck (when you can see the veins). I hope I've explained this well enough, Theos.

    Valerie, have you watched Samal Tau (by Dimash)? It's based on the grief of Kazakh soldiers who were conscripted by Russia to go fight in Russian wars, and more than likely, to die. So when they were being marched to the next battle (and further from their beloved homes in the Samal (mountains) Tau (windy) region. No one has ever expressed the wild and hopeless grief they must have felt, like Dimash does, in this all-too-short piece of music that was worked up out of an old Kazakh traditional song.on this subject. In it, you can tell that he has created for himself another distinct voice.
    Dimash has sung at least one additional version of "Adagio" since he did this one, but I don't think it's an improvement. He stripped out some of the embellishments, but I liked those, very much, and I'm willing to go out and dig, to get something like this wonderful version.

    Wow. You actually just said his head shake was a sign of him being nervous and you're a vocal coach. You should know the headshake is a natural vibrator when you hit a note that high that's mixed

    • @VocalSplendorStudios
      @VocalSplendorStudios  5 років тому +2

      Nope. That is not true. At all. And I'm not just a vocal coach. I'm a voice teacher who has actually studied vocal anatomy and physiology of the voice. The head shake has NOTHING to do with vibrato or resonation. Not every UA-cam "vocal coach" has knowledge on anatomy so I would do more research on who you are listening to!

    Be careful doing reactions from "I Am A Singer", also called The Singer. It seems they may have copyright restrictions on the show. I watched the original from beginning to end, so I guess that makes me an original Dear!!!!! BTW, love your reactions!!!!!

      Его альбом сейчас вышел только на китайской музыкальной платформе QQ его пока можно купить только там, больше нигде. Купить нам не гражданам Китая из этого ресурса его альбом очень сложно, почти невозможно. Его альбом должен выйти немного позже и на международных музыкальных платформах которые нам доступны у нас, но именно на каких муз.ресурсах мы его можем скачать у нас пока точно неизвестно. Немного нужно еще подождать. Я обычно всю информацию получаю в его фанклубах, они всегда в курсе всего и всегда готовы помочь.

    Yes, this is a competition in China but only for artist who are already established or known. With over a billion people watching each episode this is definitely a huge spotlight for Dimash to become a sensation.
    As for next I would love to see your reaction of Tengri’s “heaven” from The Singer 2018 (same show). Super unique vocal techniques, I’ll be interested to see if you’ve ever heard anything like it.

    Another vocal coach said the head shaking was resonance! SOmeone like Demash is too perfect NOT to be relaxed

    • @VocalSplendorStudios
      @VocalSplendorStudios  4 роки тому

      I don't agree. Not all vocal coaches have an understanding of anatomy and physiology when it comes to vocal production. Resonance happens in the "vocal tract", which is the mouth and the back of the throat. The jaw is an appendage to the head. "Head shaking" is not required nor is it a side benefit of singing a high, resonant pitch! If that were true, all opera singers would be shaking their heads and jaws, too. And that is not the case. And even great singers get nervous some times; they are just better able to conceal it.

    • @MarkMoshchinsky
      @MarkMoshchinsky 4 роки тому

      @@VocalSplendorStudios Dimash sings since the age of 4 both of his parents are opera singers. I am not a singer but work with energy for a living. I do not think such a perfectionist singer as Dimash would be making beginners mistakes. But opera singer examples also make sense.

    • @VocalSplendorStudios
      @VocalSplendorStudios  4 роки тому

      Perfectionists can still make mistakes. And I wouldn't call a shaky jaw so much as a mistake but a sign of tension, which could be nerves or technique related. Remember, he was much younger when he was on this show. The shaky jaw and head is gone now. And he is singing higher and stronger notes than ever. ....Vocal science is a thing! Vocal coaches who don't have a scientific understanding can only speculate. FWIW
