- Level 4 (out of 8) students of Victoria International Ballet Academy of Canada are taking year end exam in ballet and character dance in front of judges. Ms. Victoria Mironova, their teacher and the founder of the school, and Ms. Elena Dmitrieva are conducting the exam.

Yes at our studio we do character dance and our teacher is a professional from warsaw poland, trained at the consevatory.
@girlthatlaughs Hi, what they are wearing is Character Dance shoes. Character dances are historical dances which are part of ballets. For example when you watch The Nutcracker and you see the Russian dance or the Arabian dance. Character dance is part of what our students have to learn to be able to complete their studies and obtain their diploma as Artistes de Ballet. By the way this December we are presenting the Nutcracker at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts!
hi, is Elena Dmitrieva from the Kirov ? I think i had her as teacher in the adult courses at Stanlowa dance school in Paris around 12 years ago
I never got how people hold their legs in a backscale split of vertical split without holding them. My leg just falls back down however hard I try.

i would love to take up ballet! too bad im already 15 and the only classes offered for my age is experienced... and i don't suppose they would let me start in beginners with the little kids...

We don't think it is weird to pursue your dreams. If you still like ballet we believe you should get back and work hard to try and catch up!
For their ballet exam, why do they exchange their ballet shoes for jazz like shoes?

@JGuan56 hey, i was a student of this school's and i truly believe you shouldnt let your age stop you from doing what you want, ive seen girls start later and become better than people would have thought, i think you should definitely give it a try!
"Being skinny is not the most important thing in ballet" The most important things in classical ballet: Flexibility(physical constraints) and being skinny(pretty)+ intelligence! Belive me- I'm a master :-)

oh and the one in front of her is really not very good.. it seems that there is very large divisions in their levels!

@animallover2297 just because a dancer is skinny doesn't mean that she is a good dancer. take that into note :)
Ballet is so beautiful! I've done ballet since 4, and stopped at upper grade 6. I'm 18 this year, and currently deciding to fund myself and learn back ballet. But I've lost my flexibilty..I really wonder if it will be a wise choice. Btw, these girls dance really well!♥

Also you need to audition in person or by video. After verifying your suitability to the Academy we let you know if you have been aceepted!

It is probably late to become a professional ballerina, but never to late to learn something new. You can always enjoy the learning process and get fit,graceful and give your body and mind many of the benefits that ballet provides.
@Hatorixthin. Thanks for your comments,our students train in an environment of friendship and collaboration, besides the obvious fact that their training is hard and exhausting, they are happy and their joy and beuty comes out in their dancing...
@girlthatlaughs Yes, ballet exams consist of several parts: barre, centre and corner and it is that long! Besides they also do the part that corresponds to Character Dance. Thanks for your comment!

I'm probably late but I notice they've answered already but I just wanna add. It is never too late to join. Even if you want to become a professional it's never too late unless you're like 17 - 19. You just have to work hard, and be really committed. I'm 14 but I've been dancing since I was 4, I don't want to be a professional at this point, I just take ballet for fun. I use to be committed until I got into new things and realized, this isn't what I want for a career... It's never too late tho.

The idea of the “perfect” body type for ballet came around when Balanchine came to the U.S and started describing what he liked in a dancer. Your body type will not hold you back. I’m short and muscular, but that’s not gonna stop me. I hope you give it a try

theres so much barre space😍 at my old studio (Long story short, I was kicked out bc im gay) we were so crammed half the time I had to use the door, door handle, or the door trim xD
