Costuming doesn’t need to be too much of a hassle, remember not everyone can sew and it’s fine to buy and commission, start with a very simple base, shirt and pants, suitable boots (you don’t need medieval boots just nothing flashy leather walking boots do fine) Then layer it, maybe a vest, maybe something else, a hat, then ACCESSORIES. This helps a lot in avoiding those awkward interactions as stated in the video, if one doesn’t notice I’m leaguish by my very leaguish kit then my many rings should tip it off
Thanks so much for this, it's a really useful watch! I've been to three or four events so far but still haven't entirely found my game. I've been doing some mage stuff with our coven in WM but outside of that haven't really had much of an idea what to do to engage more. My attendance has been a bit stilted as I'm a wheelchair user so am restricted to the dry weather events. So I don't think those breaks have helped as I lose track of what I've been doing. I definitely need to take your advice and talk to people more, and find out what I *could* get involved with.
Talking to people in game is like, the closest thing to cheat codes that Empire offers haha! People are there to interact with others, it's the whole point of the game, so you don't need to feel that you're imposing yourself, you're just playing the game too, and talking to others, enriches their game just as much as yours! Hope you find your area!
Yeah, its really cool! We found out when Jim said something in Irish and people were like "Oh, you speak Liath?" Liath is all of the Celtic languages, and represents the languages from before the empire. Then other languages represent the foreign nations tongues: Dutch - The Sarcophan Delves German - The Commonwealth Slavic - Principalities of Jarm Scandinavian - Sumaah Republic One of our favorite bits of worldbuilding from PD
It was great! Everyone was incredibly kind and friendly, way more than I thought they would be. I played a troubadour going around collecting stories to get myself talking to people more and used to the site. It helped a lot. However, like I said people were friendly so even outside of that I met folks. I had a blast! I did end up switching nations after the event from Dawn to Varushka and making a new character since I had a better idea of what I wanted out of the game. I think exploring and not locking myself into a group before going helped with that. @@theprongs4175
PDs tent rentals hire out FAST, but rent bell tent (who they've partnered with) don't sell out so fast. We rented one with them last time, and they'll even rent beds and bedding etc.
Hey! Neither of us have ever attended alone, but a lot of our group have and say that they loved it! The main thing is to not be too worried about approaching people and asking questions! Most people are happy to bring new folk into their fold. Use the phrase "I'm new to Anvil" anytime you need it and you'll be fine!

@FakeSwordsLARP thank you! Definitely an excuse for a cake crawl around the different nations to try to interact with people outside of my hall. 😅
Thanks for giving more information on the mechanics! A lot of other LARPers just give basic information.
Were delighted we could help! Let us know if there's anything else you'd like us to cover :)
Keep it up guys . I’m going to E4 for my first Empire, hopefully I will bump into youse 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Unfortunately We'll be away for e4, but have a great time! We'll see you at e1!
The one bit of advice I've been given most often is "this is my first time at Anvil" XD I'm excited for my first time at E1 :)
It's a very useful piece of advice!!

Ahh, this would have been helpful like a month ago
I've enjoyed listening to these videos a lot! They have really helped with the anxiety since E3 will be my first time and I won't know anyone yet.
So glad we could help, You're going to love it. Let us know if you have any other questions and we'll see if we can help out!
How did you find going alone, I've been wanting to go but don't have anybody to attend with me😅

Sword giveaway idea, Guess the number of intro restarts on the next Fake Swords, Real Feelings Episode.
Solid idea! Let's see if it pays off.
Is there anyway for people who attend alone, havnt got anybody whom also os interested but don't want to miss the fun?

Everyone in anvil is so welcoming. Speak to everyone and no matter what issues you ever have people will be willing to help you
can i grab the sword just to make a friend take it home and leave it with him
Do you think that he would hate it or love it?
@@FakeSwordsLARP like warm annoyance. I'm sure his wife will really appreciate it.
