The Egyptian media would not dare show a documentary like this.
Congratulation for investigation. I have admiration for the Al Jazeera work.
Regards for Brazil
Every citizen of the world needs to see this. It especially needs to be in Arabic so Egyptians can rise against internal corruption and Israel.
A first class documentary. Excellent research, clearly presented, filmed and concisely edited, with credible interviews and factual material. Al Jazeera should be commended for revealing yet another story that needs to be told worldwide.
a brilliant insight into what happened in Egypt for the last 7-8 years.
As an expat residing in Egypt, I myself is pissed off for multiple black outs a day that last for hours.
If the key people up there do not greed for money, Israel State become stronger while Arab people become weaker situation would not have to happen.
Eye opener
wow good work AJE
Very interesting ... Thank you.
In the past few years , Israel has faced unprecedented criticism for killing children, bulldozing homes , ethnic cleansing, land theft, anti-Black and Arab racism, a discriminatory legal system, continued settlement building, violations of international law, lobbying to bomb Iran\Syria and general unpleasantness.
What follows are 23 handy arguments you can use to counter nonsense such as facts and evidence in defense of fair Israel’s honor:
1.But … but … everybody else does bad things, too!
2.Democracy. We have it. You don’t.
3.The Holocaust!
4.When logic and facts have gone against you, proclaim, “You’re being really mean!” (Note: if you are a white woman, it is recommended that you cry at this point.)
5.Gaza has tunnels! And rockets! How is our army, with its $15 billion annual budget and nuclear weapons, supposed to cope?
6.Nuh uh. G-d said so. It’s all right there in the Bible.
7.I’m the victim here!
8.HitlerHajjHusseiniProtocolsGarbleGarbleHitlerHusseiniHitlerHitlerPalestineHitler
9.Terrorism! Oh so much terrorism! Teeerrrraaaah! T to the E to the R to the R to the O to the R to the I to the S to the M. Did I mention terrorism? (Note: spelling out the word also conveniently implicates the International Solidarity Movement in terrorism).
10.Anti-Semitism!
11.EVERYTHING. YOU’RE. SAYING. JUST. ISN’T. FAIR. (Note: This is a good time to bring up anti-Semitism again).
12.Look, buddy, if the ADL says it, it must be true. It’s a civil rights organization.
13.Hamas!
14.This conversation is making me uncomfortable. (Remember: it’s all about you and how you feel).
15.But we love the gay people!
16.The Prawer Plan is inevitable: tribal peoples have always stood in the way of progress.
17.My grandparents may be from Poland, but my ancestors are from Samaria.
18.Should Americans give the land back to the Indians? (Note: This argument will be especially persuasive with liberals, who, while professing loud support for Native Americans, find the notion of empowering Indians or ceding any of their privilege to be comical).
19.Hey, we only tried to steal 54 percent of your country back in the day and you, like, got all mad about it.
20.Einstein, Arendt and Buber were simplistic thinkers compared to Dershowitz, Horowitz and Friedman.
21.The Arabs used to eat matzo ball soup and kreplach before we introduced them to hummus, falafel and tabbouli.
22.There was never a Palestinian state. Ancient Israel, on the other hand, wasn’t just a biblical epoch, but a member of the UN in good standing.
23.We are a light upon all the nations. Now if you would kindly quit singling out Israel …
1950 returns again , From Iran to Egypt
I must say its a very good research and I always admire the Al Jazeera reporting best on in-depth research ..... This research should published as a Book focussing on the "Elite Capture" as well as "Role of Elites in Political-Economy"....... Best wishes from India for the reporter.......:)
"Where no counsel is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."
Fantastic documentary! Thank you very much. worthful information. Poor Egypt, now i can recognize all the silent about this country losing all its power. It's not Egypt any more.
AJ English is good stuff, however AJ Empire is beste. Brother Marwan does as some really mind intriguing questions and raise some really good points. Straight to the point, no beating around the bushes. Keep up the good work.
So... Never hire Egypt to negotiate a deal for you?
I'm sorry that you said Israeli state. Israel robbed the land of Palestinians, so admitting their existence as sovereignty state is really committing a crime against humanity.
Would anyone happen to have a time-coded transcript for this film and would like to share it for a non-profit project?
Al Jazeera also should make a video about russian oil and gas!
There is an error in the calculation at 21.05. Israel wasn't purchasing LNG transported from the Middle East to Japan at $12.6 per BTU, it was purchasing piped gas (which is cheaper) and a market price is likely to have been closer to the price referred to earlier in the film paid by Germany from Russia at around $7-8 per BTU.
Egypt needs to step its game up.
must translate this to Arabic
Geo MS of course! To those that don’t speak or read English.
anyone who says this document is biased clearly doesnt live in egypt
Once again, we see that MONEY is the ultimate religion/god.
This is how gas potential can make changes or even worst in nationwide if it is hand over wrongly..
kickass journalist !!!
Very sad 😞I see bunch of monsters tearing Egypt into pieces.
This clearly shows that corruption is everywhere and it shall never end now
@36:04 President Sissy! LOL
And now they bring the power back to this very same corrupt and ignorant military!
Allah ya rahmah mohamd morsi💔
Egypt´s Lost Power. The tycoons cashed in, the people lost out!
There are costs to having an autocratic government, an ignorant populace and a xenophobic culture. One of them is that other countries will use your weaknesses against you. If Egypt wants to advance it needs to shed its patriarchal culture, crate a true secular state and educate itself in sciences, humanities and technologies.
xenophobic culture is found in europe (Marie La Penn , UKIP , EDL , BNP ,NATIONAL FRONT , Geert Wilders , Gates of Vienna , Breivik , Daily Mail , Mirror etc ), usa (Tea Party , Spencer and Geller co , thousands others) and most of the nations in Asia ( India , Burma , Sri Lanka , Pakistan , Japan and Korea etc ) . So dont isolate the egyptians in this case
The fringes in Europe don't run anything.
And I did not isolate the Egyptians. The story was about Egypt and I commented on Egypt.
Also stop with this false equivalency bar. Naming fringe groups in Europe is not equivalent to what happens in Egypt. In Egypt if you are a Baha'i you can't meet in a pubic square or pray in your holy places. Christians are leaving in droves and their churches are being destroyed. This is not a fringe in Egyptian society. This is a majority. What i mean by majority. 78% of Egyptians consider the Baha'i heretics of Islam and thus not a religious minority. Not a minority no minority rights. That means no rights at all. They can't even go to a public school. And remember 90% of Egypt is Muslim. That is true xenophobia. Show me the equivalence now.
***** Interestingly, EDL's co-founder is Jewish, Geert Wilders is descended from Indonesian and Jewish families, and Gellar is also a Jew. It would be interesting to know who is funding the other groups - many of them have links to Israel.
Seller Williams Even if Wilders is Jewish , which he is not, what does that mean. He does not control policy in the Netherlands. He hates the tyranny endemic in the Arab world. Not one majority Muslim country has ever created a democratic system to this day. Down the list they all have autocratic regimes. The reason is the theocratic thinking the majority of the population aspires to. Why is that so? The entire Islamic society is a top down model where the elite rules and the people just muddle through
Endri Bardhyli " Not one majority Muslim country has ever created a democratic system to this day " Ignorant Geert Wilders and his fanboys . Video clearly states that MORSI WHO WAS DEMOCRATICALY ELECTED by the Egyptians which means Egypt is a Democracy .
Blind with hatred or Xenophobic Wilder theories have infested every single inch of your body .
What a shame, when some fight for the dignity of their homeland in the military and other sectors. Some manage as well to sell off their country for fullfill their personal greed. It is a shame and betrayal to the martyrs, the martyrs whom entrusted their promissed and well protected land to the generation to come. What a disappointment, i saw today!
These guys were smart! I wish i was part of that deal! I admire these guys!
Amazing what greed could do. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
How and why was Sisi elected as president?
how? by a military coup and falsified elections. when? few days ago.
Abdou Habibi She asked why not when.
The turnout was 46%??? how did that happen?? do you really believe those numbers?
Alex Litvin my mistake sorry
***** if you want the real figures you can simply review the media coverage of the elections and compare them to the other footages from 2012 elections, the estimated numbers though are below 10% and i think that's convincing for what we've seen too
Japan imports LNG and the price comparison to pipeline gas contracts is misleading. $1.50/MMBTU is cheap for pipeline gas but in 2004 I saw energy being priced at $2/MMBTU in the middle east.
Al-JazeraTv, you forgot to put hash tags Egypt and crisis. Because that's what it seems to closely resemble. As in 90%, hahaha hilarious.
I have moral values that I want to follow in life, and people should also have good moral values, if they live by it, no such thing would have happened. People just care for whomever looks or believes in the same thing as them, what does that say about us?
What's the point of banning videos, what happened to human rights, we should see more controversy like this, not just in the Middle East, but ALL AROUND THE WORLD. Because this happens every where! We need to know this, this is our right.
So you think it's morally justifiable to steal Egypt's gas via gangster intermediaries and sell it back to them at hugely inflated prices? Interesting..
No, I don't think anyone would think that. I seriously don't know how you came up with that. Tells me a lot about your understanding.
Lughmani Tehreem What does it tell you about my understanding? Did you watch the documentary even? Maybe do that first and then come back to me.
Yes I did.....-.- I'm just pointing out that if people had common ethics they wouldn't have build a pipe line and start sucking another countries gas for their own benefits. Why are you being rude?
This documentry makes me think climate change and the end of the human species is not such a bad thing....
Well it's a bad thing. But what's worse is corrupt people putting themselves first before their nations.
This is a good documentary, i thought the egypt army was good for the people and given history of war against israel i thought it was beginning of a new dawn, but i guess i was wrong. In saying that why dosent egypt buy gas from iran a fellow muslim nation ?
because they are broke.
shaunone Saudi Arabia finances Egypt gov after the coup, they will not allow cheap gas from Iran. Rather the Saudis would prefer to put money in the pocket of Israel
I think its high time we RE-NEGOTIATE the NILE TREATY
Worked for Egypt. Note the lack of war vs. elsewhere.
What?
ธุรกิจเปลี่ยนตามโลกที่หมุน
This is exactly what is happening in NIGERIA. They sell oil and gas out, then import fuel and pay subsidy. And no electricity.
The frequency of adds interrupting youtube content is irritatingly high?
@Brooke Hamilton i am a very dumb boy. Thanks for enlightening me Brooke ;-)
i did nt get any..try add blocker .
Surprised he, and Mubarak are still mobile. They must have well-paid friends.
Sisi must not be allowed to die before being convicted
Great. Except for the annoying flames all over the screen!
salams eye!
All that burned off gas could be used to desalinate sea water, drive turbines, etc.?
Appalling waste!
They sold their country
Please include Arabic subtitles.
Egypt deserves better
I found this documentary interesting and informative. However, if Egypt can (or could have) made so much money selling gas to Japan then why don't they sell it all to them right now? Then buy some cheaper energy from Saudi Arabia or whatever. But it's not that simple, is it.
n
50 billion for what feeling uphappy.
Is anyone surprised?
No
While the corruption is real. There are a couple issues. 1 that the losses calculation seems like total BS you can't compare what they could export across the world, only what a comparable price in the region would be. Also You can basically say that the deal to get the Sinai back meant providing Israel with cheap fuel. Honestly its really smart by Israel they get cheap gas and then grease the palms of the Egypts elite to keep them cooperating
Watching this I completely understand why Egypt imprisoned the Al Jazeera journalists.Lock em up forever.
this is, really, hurting me. i simply cant believe that, so call, muslim will do such a evil to there own people, and do it for little bit of dunya and i favour on ours enemies. what is wrong with this ummah
what is wrong with the quality of this video? or is it my screen??
This is what you get when you deal with the devil. He smiles and takes pleasure from ripping you off. If you continue to deal with him stop crying about the consequences.
Try the Syrian and Iraqi energy
Sector and blame the United States
What is market rate? if Japan bought for 12$ and Germany for 8$ so what is the "right" price? another nonsense is that Egypt can sell to Japan for 12$ lol did he do the math of transferring gas from Egypt to Japan?
Yeah that made me realize this is backed by the Qatari government. There is basically no way that 12$ is the right price considering it needs to be shipped across the world. A better number would be the usual price in the region.
ديمآ ضد إسرائيل...تحياتي إلى مصر
Whenever a corrupt billionaire is nailed, they turn to putty...silly putty.
Please unblock all your documentaries and videos in US.I love Aljazeera English and I hate ALjazeera America, it's bogus don't want to watch the watered down version. Original please.
Black/Oil money was distributed by Mubarak to rule egypt through Israel in exchange of Egypt support?
Its a fucked up world!
these thives must get the hardest punishment with no mercy to death
Why ? I would never do that, i would let them and their whole family life in a small house in middle of a stone quarry where they must work to the end of their live. Death is too fast and you can do it only once per person.
Oh you poor Qatar.. your escapades in Egypt and Syria are not turning out so well.
we are living in the last deys and now this we are a step clouser to WW 3
εχαρηστω Εφι για το + 1
if it will be the end ,it will not be called ww3 ..just , wwlast !
Too many commercials to watch this.
Insa Allah one day no way to go Israel and donkey Arab king
LION FORM JUDAH 2020
And, they killed Morsi...
The peace mafia.
All the Jews in the world are awaiting the Messiah, hoping that he would be a martial and political leader who would establish a Jewish kingdom from the Nile to the Euphrates, and will gather the Jews in the land which they believe is theirs by inheritance. It does not require great intelligence to realize that the stage is being set for the appearance of Dajjal in Middle East.
A bunch of scary faces
Really! 🙄 been told by a colleague/confidant we getting elec for free why not? Why complain?!
Unless they meant lybia!🕵
How about Qatar?
One thing Obama was corrected to say: 2011 was historic moment for Egypt, and we do know that Morsi was pressure from every side including a possible war with Ethiopia, another puppet of USA about their Nile-Dam. Also, Morsi people aspirations were unlimited for a president hated by the West and Israel, including Saudi Arabia. The Evil has voted him out of office and the military got the honour to put him in Prison the only president in recent history ever voted democrat by Egypt, but one thing the Evil was ever right was Morsi did not understand that the bad guys of the world have too much power for a simple president who try to make deal with Iran, where Israel and USA plus Saudi Arabia hate them so much, and Morsi failed miserably. Morsi try too fast, too soon, too good, he should have being more technocrat than thinking he is independent country. The world try to humiliate Morsi but they could not so the military grap the power. Egypt has being bought for couple billion, that goes the only proud Sunni Arab nation. So, I have ONE Question for Egypt, what exactly does it feels to be the puppet and stooge of Israel?
Please folks let's not generalize... There are Good & Bad people in every race.....!!!! I know we have a major problem accruing from some Greedy rich folks who wanna run the world....But don't lose hope .. Every story & everyone has an END....NOBODY & NOTHING LASTS FOREVER EXCEPT THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH = GOD. & HIS MESSAGE TO HUMANITY.
This guy says president "sissy" lol
🇰🇪👍
This is a movie it just need drama a bit .Get good movie write a they make this a movie Al Jazeera
I cant find this video in Arabic :(
Tt
"Israeli investment" Rich! When Israel has been suckling $bils yearly from the US taxpayers when/where did the penniless horde of warmongers get money to invest in Egypt.
Palestinian lost resources Israel will have to pay back under the Geneva Con Articles of war and Egyot mus insist that Israel pay back the $11bil to the Egyptian people even if Al Sisi purchases Oil from Israel
mafioso, mafioso, mafioso, mafioso
In all of Sahar, there is no OIL or Gas you goto be jocking.
Clearly there is no way to justify this sort of greed........... BUT........ what would be the cost of another middle eastern war that was averted due to this deal? Greed is bad but if you are counting the costs then you must include peace as a very tangible benefit. This seems to be how our world operates in the 21st century.
I will fight u next ! Let's do it roar
We have to look peaceful relations with Israel she got the idea and you got stuff.helping eachother and make Prosper make friends to Israeli scientists gain your idea how to make phone software etc
Anwar al Sadat seal Egypt peace agreement with Jewish apartheid by treading Palestine and Syria it was wrong
EVERY DARK SIDE WORKS ... MAKING A ....U.S .A DOGS
How this mubarak ruined his country, may Allah make that money useless and revert back money to egypt
All for the sake of ISREAL
Why does the ponytail keep saying "The Israeli State" instead of "Israel"? Is he really just an Israel-hater who would like to say "The Zionist State"?
I didn't know Zionist was an Insult like saying Nazi is an insult
It's not an insult. But anti-Israel muslims say "The Zionist State" because they can't stand saying the word "Israel".
metallitech I guess Israel means Holy for Muslims, because that's the name of Jacob same with Christians and Zionist Leaders are mostly Atheist and Secular like the first Prime Minister Ben-Gurion was a self declared Atheist.
Goodness gracious, open up a dictionary & look up the definition of " STATE ", there's nothing comprehensively erroneous with saying the " state " of Israel, just as there's nothing wrong in saying the states of Eastern-Europe. Stop making shit-up from thin air bud!
I'm pretty sure the phrase "Israeli State" includes the word "Israel", so how could he be denying the existence or legitimacy of Israel?
Fact: Egypt sells its gas to Jordan, Syria and Lebanon (to Jordan since 2003)
Fact: The price of Gas sold to these countries is lower than the price it was sold to Israel
Fact: There is no Pipe Line between Egypt and Japan, so the comparison is ridiculous as Japan wouldn't buy from Egypt when it has closer markets that need not transport Gas half the way around - Japan was chosen to bloat the so called "Corruption Price"
Fact: Israel portion of the Gas sales cake is minor compared to self usage and other countries exports
Fact: Under Morsi (Qatar beloved president - not so loved by Egyptians ) the Gas kept flowing from Egypt to any one who paid. The pipe was blown by Salafist extremists it had nothing to do with the MB fat turd.
Fact: none of the facts above bothered the hate filled Qataris to produce this idiotic piece of conspiracy as if Israel had anything to do with Egypt energy crisis.
Good for you AJ - another masterpiece
what are you doing here with all those facts? Arabs don't like facts...
@@alexpich7279 just writing facts in front of the sentence doesn't make it a fact for example
Fact the sun is made of candy
Fact Qatar is a HATER!
😂 😂 I luv Isreal man this is too funny....
