Thank you for your show. It brings back memories of 1990s music scene in Bhutan. For insights into 1980s music scene and origins of rigsar you should invite Dasho Thinley Gyamtsho (former RAPA Principal) and Lopen Tashi Gyeltshen. At 16:13 aum Lhamo Drukpa mentions she was a fan of Aue Shera, Aue Tashi Gyeltshen and Aue Gyamtsho - they are Dasho Shera, Lopen Tashi Gyeltshen and Dasho Thinley Gyamtsho, respectively. They were, especially Lopen Tashi and Thinley Gyamtsho, the most active and composed many songs together in 1980s. Tashi Gyeltshen and Thinley Gyamtsho also composed children's nursery rhymes as they were both teachers in the early 80s. They also taught many students their songs at winter scout camps. Thinley Gyamtsho was not actively involved in music after early 1990 whereas Tashi Gyeltshen continued composing and singing into the 1990s and 2000s. However according to Dasho Dr. Sonam Kinga's paper from 2000, it is highly probable that Thinley Gyamtsho composed and sang the first original Dzongkha rigsar song in 1979-80, when we sang "dorozam" at Samtse High school concert where he was teacher. Prior to this event, most rigsar songs were Bollywood imitations. This "dorozam" song is not the popular "wai dorozam" that Tashi Gyeltshen and Thinley Gyamtsho composed and sang in 80s, but a completely different one and was never recorded. Young and upcoming singers in Bhutan should learn a lot and take inspirations from legends like her. Not all Tom, Dick and Harry can be singers and copy their songs without their consent. I don’t listen to many Bhutanese songs but what I hear from the host and the guest seems legit. Copy right should be taken seriously.
