Nice job Jeff
Looks like a nice truck, sir!
I slid, a small barrel filter, with a wine cork, in the open end, over the air filter sleeve, then made a vented shroud, out of, a tomato paste can, then self -tapped it to the sleeve. Holding better than none.
thanks jeff i needed to know about the seat for the float. how to get it out and right way to put the new one in.---------bob
Thanks Jeff. I will archive this. T
Great great greast job
Good job , I've got to work on a carburetor like this . Has a small surging problem and I'm thinking it the emulsion tube O rings cause I've already checked the low idle screw out and float bowl . Just surges just a small amount , wanting to sell it but got get it to idle smother than it is .
Once I get my lawnmower working, I have a Craftsman string trimmer and a Mantis Tiller that won't start either. From watching the video, I'm thinking that they probably have dirty carbs also.
I need a air breather cover for my Tecumseh push mower. I was told by Pro Parts Direct that they can't help. Engine # OVRM120 22032E. can you advise?
Thanks for the videos! Very informative. Where is a good reasonable place to get the part kits for carbs?
I always recommend your local lawnmower repair shop FIRST(support local business!). OR Ebay and Amazon. ;)
I have a problem and a few question
I have two mowers, each one is a Craftsman Eager 1, one is my sons, the other is mine and both were "Inherited" and both mowers have me STUMPED!
My mower ran great for 12 years but I only used it twice a month, 30 minutes each time to trim and mow the dog pen. It went bad on me about a week ago, the float was shot and mine has the brass tube so I decided to replace the needle, seat, float & clean it up real good.
I did the above, reinstalled the carb and the mower fired right up. It ran good and after 4 minutes of running, the mower would draw down slightly for 1 second, run good for a minute then repeat the short draw down so I shut the mower down and let it sit overnight
I thought I may know why my mower had that slight hesitation, I replaced the fuel line and cut the new piece a little longer so it hung down more with a little bigger curve back up to the carb BUT I was stumped because it's a gravity fed system? But I cut a small length of the hose and reinstalled
The other thing that I figured may cause the problem was a local business worked on my mower years ago. When I went to tear my mower down I took pics of everything & noticed the linkage spring was run over top of the solid, throttle link and I thought that was odd
When I put my mower back together I ran the spring under the throttle linkage like they usually are so I thought maybe the previous mower mechanic ran it over top to take up some slack & make it tighter so I redid the spring over top of the throttle link
I tried the mower again after my corrections, mower fired right up so I mowed an area about 20 ft X 30 ft, did great, I pulled the mower back onto my concrete pad and let it idle and 3 minutes into the mower sitting there the thing died on me!
I removed the carb to clean it real good again. I removed the float, needle & seat, cleaned it real good again, but last night I reinstalled the seat, put a new, brass float on that I had here instead of the new plastic float that I used initially on the rebuild
I installed the needle, clip and float anddddd NO GO. The float rides real high and there isn't enough tab to adjust so I installed the plastic float that was already adjusted and same thing so I have a problem and I am stumped
I pushed the seat in all the way, but the needle is bottoming out at a higher position and preventing the float from leveling out
Can a brand new rubber seat swell or deform in turn preventing the seat from going all the way down? I got a little carb cleaner on it but very little and I have seen people soak the carb with the seat still in & they were fine
Any ideas, well other than praying a lot or performing an exorcism on the mower? haa
Sorry this is so long but I like to explain a problem in a clear way to try and eliminate any extra questions or confusion. This is also the way I like questions/problems explained to me so I don't have to ask a lot more questions, it must be the previous military that's still in my brain haa
Thank you and anyone that can help, if no one answers then that's ok too since I did get to see a great video
i have seen the float seat swell on a rare occasion when in contact with some chemicals. Make sure the fuel tank is clean also.
Hi Jeff, how did you come to determine it was the carb and not an issue with something else? I didn't see any troubleshooting in the video.
+SEI RePower Thanks for the question! It had been sitting outside for 6 months. Anytime a piece of equipment has been sitting for a period of time and then will not start, I always go straight to the fuel system as the cause.
+Jeff's Little Engine Service - That's a great start, no doubt. Under the same conditions I certainly would check the bowl first and if I found water and/or old fuel I'd clean it and the tank then try a shot of fuel manually to see if it would fire at that point just so I could eliminate decay, a mouse or other critter feasting on wiring just to be sure I covered that possibility and was on the right track. But, no matter what, having found crud in the bowl I'd get into the carb. I'd just eliminate other things initially. Thank you for your response.
What did you soak the carb in? What was in the bucket? Thanks.
+Laura B. It is a special Carburetor cleaning solution that you can buy at any auto parts store, it comes with the bucket and strainer.
Nice job- in fact the best video I have seen on cleaning/ rebuilding the Tecumseh carb. Thanks!
