Perhaps the biggest rock anthem of them all, "Rock And Roll All Nite" is KISS at the top of their game.
I would find it hard to believe that any rock guitar fan doesn't know this song, it is literally heard everywhere. So I guess it would be a good idea to know how to play it on the guitar in the event someone requests it, or you are just up for a fun song to play.
In these Rock And Roll All Nite guitar lesson videos, I will be taking a look at the KISS Alive version of "Rock And Roll All Nite". This version and lesson will include Ace Frehley's complete guitar solo. And a cool guitar solo it is!
Much of the chords for "Rock And Roll All Nite", all of which I will show you in the first lesson, consist of simple closed position triads and power chords.
We do have to hammer-on some of those triads and that technique of having two fingers hammer-on a chord simultaneously can be a bit tricky at first. In order to accomplish this maneuver, focus on two things. First, focus on the timing of the middle and ring fingers as they execute the hammer-on. They should feel like one big finger. As soon as you can create then sensation of those two fingers being locked together as one, you can then concentrate on the second important element for this technique.
That second important element is the timing of the hammer-on itself. What you are actually doing is hammering-on from a D major triad to a G major triad. The notes of the D major triad are simply grace notes and you should barely be able to here them. The first thing people should hear is the fast hammer-on itself, not the first chord. You will see what I mean when watching the video lesson.
After you have that chord maneuver mastered, the only other challenging chord sequence would be some rather large stretches when they play the D5-D6 Chuck Berry style chord shapes. For those chord shapes, make sure your thumb is in the middle of the back of the neck or maybe even a little bit lower, which will allow your little finger to reach that note.
In the second video I will show you how to play Ace Frehley's guitar solo note-for-note. This solo is full of some aggressive bluesy style licks and a few things a little outside of the norm as well.
All-in-all it is a very highly effective solo from one of rock guitar's most influential guitarists. You can certainly learn a lot from this killer solo!
    Enjoy!
    Carl...

I just want to express my appreciation for all the work and time you put into your lessons. I have not only learned a fair number of great songs, I've also improved my playing immeasurably. A donation to your site is a small price to pay. Thank you very much.

The Dressed to Kill version is kinda weird for being totally devoid of a solo. Apparently there was a demo or something with one, similar or just as it is live, but why the album version is missing it is kinda odd.

One of the weird oddities for sure. I’ve always hoped an interviewer would ask Ace why no solo on that version to see if he can recall.

Could you please put the tab somewhere? I can't see the notes you play very well, a tab would be great.. Great lesson, by the way.

Great lesson, just as always! But could you do a Bullet for my Valentine song (e.g. dignity or waking the Demon)? That would be awesome!! Keep up the great work, greetings from Germany!

Yep, Waking The Demon or Scream Aim Fire would be tremendous! :) But I guess it always depends on what is highly demanded and BFMV already are a little "out", right? (Well, I always only really liked the record "Scream Aim Fire" anyways.)
I think Carl's choice of songs to teach is already really, really good, he always chooses songs which are quite popular. I especially love all those rock-classics like this one for instance. Basically the whole soundtrack from Guitar Hero III was awesome! :D

DridgeDEU Of course the choice is good, but BFMV would be great, anyway. And in my opinion, Fever is their best album ;)

What are you talking about man, that's a different song that I never heard before. Sounds good though, you should mess it up a bit more and make it all yours.
