That was such an epic last point. A common thing to point out is that during that last rally, all 6 players on both sides touched the ball. If you remember Oikawa's seemingly obvious words, "the team with the stronger six is stronger". That last rally was clearly meant to show that Karasuno's six players really has become stronger than Seijou's six players.

Despite being an extremely skilled setter, sadly, Oikawa could never see the national stage...which means other national level players or coaches never knew about him. It's sad and as i rewatch the series i always feel bad about him not winning.
It's a celebration for karasuno tho.
Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa is going to be fire🔥

If you read the manga, Oikiwa goes on to play in Argentina, his journey did not end here.

To this day this is one of my favourite episodes in Haikyuu. And that last rally is one of the best
Iwaizumi was incredible, Oikawa went above and beyond
There is an extensive discussion about natural talent and effort in Haikyuu. There is more to come, and all of it is amazing

I've been so excited for it for the longest time since you started reacting to Haikyuu and its finally here. The rally and animation for that last point always gives me goosebumps.

Funnily enough, the author actually mentioned in one of the interviews that they weren't quite satisfied with how they approached the concept of "geniuses" in the first part of the manga with Oikawa, so you're not that far off with it

The genuine look of relief and happiness for their win 😂.
Enjoy your perspective on the idea of competition. Another incredible show I'd recommend is pingpong the animation, focuses very heavily on the ideas of competition and the game of life. Backed by probably the best OST in any anime and only 11 episodes

I have seen this final point so many times, that when the song that plays behind it, i can hear the exact words they say, in the right tone and order. It's so insanely awesome

    A couple notes:
    1) just to clarify, Noya switching out wasn't the coach's choice. It was just his turn in the rotation to switch out. Since liberos can't play front row and they can't serve in this league, he had to rotate out, because of the rules
    2) the basketball player you're talking about is Giannis Antetokounmpo. The interview came after their round one loss, despite them being one of the #1 seeds and therefore one of the favorites to win the championship

I've been looking forward to seeing your reaction to this last point of the game for a while now!! Love how you pick up and question some of the themes of the show and without going into specifics I am hyped to see you talk about future characters/scenes!

one thing that bothers me in haikyuu specifically is how the subtitles are. they clearly say "don't mind" or "one touch" but the subtitles insist in changing that lol

Oikiwa is such an incredible protagonist, regardless of where the series goes, he remains the most memorable of all of Karasunos opponents.

Reaching 20 points in a set, earlier than your opponent gives you advantage yes. It's like you feel that you are so close to the end. Also, 20 is no longer the 10-19 points... it's like the starting of the endgame. It's like subconsciously you are saying:
"You are in the 10-19 range, but i'm starting my 20-25"

Something that also is worth noting is the comparison between that last attack in this episode and its counterpart exactly 1 season ago in 1x24.
Someone made this handy video to point out the parallels.

It really shows how the changes that Kageyama and Hinata have undergone since their previous match against Aoba Johsai contribute to their ability to win this time around.

@@AGoodwinTV Apart from how it really makes the new set, and what Hinata can do with it plainly visible, I also appreciate the differences seen on the other side of the court, Oikawa's move to intercept. Last time Oikawa knew that Hinata isn't breaking through the block. This time he saw it and was almost in position to dig it out.
Unless Karasuno improves further, Oikawa will defend this attack next time (if there is a next time).

Actually it's the fact that his entire mindset is revolving around the fact that he is not a genius, but at that point when Kageyama used that dump he finally felt Kageyama caught up to him, so he decided to abandon this idea in order to actually be able to fight him, to keep up with him, using a set he never would try, cause he is not a genius, the way I think about it Oikawa in that point was even better than Kageyama even with Hinata there, breaking through his own shackles of self doubt.
Not to mention later on in season 4 I will get back to that point, cause the definition of a genius here is cleared out and more than anything with that definition Oikawa Toru is n̶o̶t̶ a genius.

Something to note here, despite how good Oikawa is, he and Aoba Johsai have never made it to nationals. Outside their prefecture, in a professional view, he just looks like some washed-out highschooler that's never managed to show any real results for the sport.
