Hm... somehow I do everything differently: I start with the espresso, then I switch to steam and wait for about 30s (Rancillio says somewhere that there is more steam available if you start steaming while the Silvia is still heating). While steaming I lower the wand when the milk reaches body temperature and stop when holding the pitcher at the side starts to hurt.
I don't bother turning on the pump any more when bleeding the steam line. It takes a bit longer to bleed but I don't have to refill the reservoir nearly as much. The main thing to avoid when pulling the shot is that Chsshhhh sound from too much steam pressure. Then a perfect shot is just a matter of the right grind and tamp. Dead easy.
Hi. Just bought a Rancilio Silvia recently.....the filter sometimes stay stuck on the machine when you remove the handle. Did I get a wrong size or is this normal..
Hi CL, It's normal. Happens to me all the time! Always best to keep the PF attached to the machine prior to brewing so it heats up. A couple of things that can help: Regularly clean the group head and gasket area with a group brush. Removing residual coffee oils and grinds will make basket sticking less likely. Also, don't clock in the handle hard when not brewing and remove when machine is not in use.
+bruno galati Hi Bruno, Singles are challenging! All parameters must be just right. Work especially with grind size and dose amount. We rarely do singles as they are so finicky.
Hi CD, Honestly cannot be certain as this video is nearly 7 years old. By the looks of the shot I'm guessing it's an Italian blend with a some Robusta in the mix. My best guess is Lavazza Super Crema: www.wholelattelove.com/lavazza-super-crema-whole-bean-espresso-coffee
That's a nice looking shot. I just pulled my Silvia out of storage and am getting reacquainted. Hope to achieve as nice a result. Thanks! ☕

How the heck does your espresso come out so creamy?
Hi DD, Well, it all starts with a good bean and fresh grind at the right grind size!
