I agree with your opinion on the .280 Rem. I still use my late fathers Rem. 725 in .280 Rem. It's never failed to deliver reliable year to year accuracy and stopping power without excessive meat damage with proper bullet selection.
Definitely a nice rifle. $900 of the cost is in the PROOF research rifle barrel. I currently have 3 Savage Rifles and like two of the 3. I have a late 90s M110 wood stock in .270 Win that my Dad bought me when I was 15 and I am 39 now. I have a newer M110 Long Range Hunter in 300 WSM that I got in 2019. I like it, but can’t turn the brake off. So my past two rifle seasons my ears 👂 were rung. I have a A17 in 17HMR, it shoots accurate but it won’t feed the 2nd round consistently at all. I have thought about selling the A17 and getting a bolt action instead of semi. I also am thinking of selling my .300 WSM which is 8.4 lbs and possibly getting the Savage UltraLight in the same cartridge. I wouldn’t mind a 7 mm like a 280 AI to fit in the middle. I watched this on my TagHub account way before this dropped on here. One of the perks.
Hey Dan -- been looking at the ultralight for two years now. Always comes down to getting a box of factory bullets. Thinking about reloading -- could you take the time to tell me your load development/specs for your 143 hammer bullets. I like how you where pushing over 3100. Thanks - from Wyoming
Sorry for the delayed response! Yeah I've done a lot of testing with Reloader 26 and 62.3-62.5 grains has been the sweet spot with those hammer bullets. The guys at Hammer claim I should even be able get better groups with a faster burning powder. I finally got my hands on some RL22 so we'll see what I can do with that.
Everybody keeps trying to get me to go to 6.5 creedmoor I'm just not a fan. I'm more of a fan of 308. My two favorite rifles 243 and my 22 mag. Although I will say if I want to get distance and I mean distance long distance I'll use my 338 the Lapua Magnum
I drank the kool-aid and bought my son the 6.5. I regret it now. Wish I went 308 win. Just more versatility and out to 500 yds I love the 30 cal hole and damage. It's not trendy but it still works! We've been dropping elk with the 165 grain Accubond. One shot. They go down. Lotsa ammo on the shelves and very affordable. I like the boring 308 win.
Hey! I got the same rifle and i reload for it, im using 140gr barnes ttsx, 62gr of H4831 at 2960fps. How do you get 3150 without any pressure issues? I would like to try it out. Bullet and power charge? Thanks!
I am running 62.5 grains of RL26 getting those speeds. Yeah no problem on pressure issues. They were the 143 gr Hammer bullets. I am getting ready to load some RL22 here in the next couple months. I hear I can get under 1/2 MOA with a faster burning powder than RL26.
@@danpickar5442 - thanks for the reply! After careful bullet seating depth ladder test and powder weight tests i easily am able to keep my groups under 0.5 moa. I ussually happy with it around 0.25-0.3 moa! Good luck!
@@danpickar5442 - Hammer bullets. I have tried them in this gun, but in others I easily get 2-300 fps faster than others. They are slightly narrower and the relief bands reduce the resistance through the barrel. Thanks
I will disagree with you on that scope. Three of my rifles have a Arken SH-4 Gen 2 6-24×50 $400 for scope with clear glass parallax and also has illuminated reticle I also use my sun shade an make a cat's eye with electrical tape to keep out sun glare.
By far the most poorly built rifle I have ever purchased!!! I sent mine back unfired as I couldn’t believe how shit these actually are. Hope yours is better than mine was,
@@lupoed - haha…. No you are not. I use premium bullets and shot dozens of animals all over the country and been on over a hundred successful hunts. Unless the animal is spined or you get lucky they never drop on impact….
Love your choice of cartridges. Lifelong .280 Remington hunter/shooter that transitioned to P.O.’s version 5 years ago. Very efficient cartridge.
Nice review! I have one of these chambered in .308 Win and I like it a lot, mine is also very accurate with my reloads

Not 280 rem it’s 280ai basically 280 rem but better

Good video. Can we please get link to the scope rail? Thank you!
Those whiskey scopes are the best for the money. They hold zero and track well!
Yeah me and my great nephew and my two cousins we prefer 338 Lapua and our 243
You should try the eliminator 5. It's super super light
I am considering this rifle actually in 280AI for my Niece. Is the trigger guard metal or polymer? I would have to order this from away.
How did you determine what model of the Rockslide muzzle brake to choose?

Love the set up! What kind of bipod is that?
It's a swagger. -Dan
Can you send a link for the scope
Say, what rail is that for your bipod? How did you mount it. What brand bipod? Thanks.
It's one of Swaggers newer bipod. Rail included, easy installation.
Cool rifle. Thinking about getting one. How is the stock? Any good or cheap and flimsy?
It's seems ok to me. It's a classic composite stock that is bedded. Haven't had any issues. -Dan
Could you tell me what scope base you put on this rifle? Or any one chime in.. Thanks
I know I had to hunt a specific one down for it. I'll find out. -Dan
I have the vortex rings with the vortex recommended rail. I think it’s ECM if I’m not mistaken.
Ini unit yang bagus buat menembak buruan yang besar dan jarak tembakanya sangat bagus👍😁
How is the action and aftermarket support?
Action is good but not butter smooth. After all it's a spiral fluted production rifle. -Dan
@@EastmansHuntingJournals I’m used to Tikka Andl Bergaras. I suspect I would be disappointed
