I rode this route in November 2021 and it was great! Lots of climbing though! Really enjoy your videos and thanks for sharing

Beautiful roads, scenery, and tough climbs for sure. Glad you enjoyed.

As you were on Foxcroft, turning right onto Mountville, you passed a lovely unpaved gravel road, Pothouse (which would have been the left turn at that intersection). In the 90s, I lived in a small cottage on Pothouse. It was just cut off as you were looking back in that direction. It's so nice to see these views of the roads around Middleburg. I rode my bike into town every day.

Hi Bryan, so many amazing road choices as you know. I sincerely hope any further paving of these roads has ceased.

Next time you come to DC/NVA, announce it/let us know and some of the locals will go with you ....

That would be fun, hopefully Covid will mostly be snuffed out by then.

Great video! I've lived in Purcellville for about 15 years and can confirm there is a matrix of picturesque, hilly, mostly-very quiet gravel roads for riding in Purcellville and surrounding towns.

JOM, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your video series about my home roads. You’ve done a spectacular job showcasing what a wonderful place this is to ride. Thanks for the America’s Routes and VeloPigs shoutouts! 🤘🏻🐷🤘🏻

Of all your videos this area is by far the most picturesque, what a fabulous place to ride.

I think I like the 2020 videos around the US over the race videos. I relate to the riding for riding sake and that enjoyment over the competition which I used to do too. time and age.two thumbs up

Have to agree David, I'm really enjoying this year riding and exploring. I'm sure there will be racing in the future?, but I'll likely adapt this style to it, which may make it more interesting?

What an absolutely gorgeous late autumn day to ride in a beautiful place. Horse farms, history, and a fair number of Olympic equestrians per capita; thanks for the NoVa nostalgia tour, part II. ;)

I didn't know about Olympic level equestrians making their home around NoVA, but I can understand why! I used to ride for fun (English saddle), but my skills are about 30 levels below Olympic caliber :)

@@GravelCyclist I also rode as a youngster during summer camps, but it made way for other interests, such as cycling. However it left me with a fine appreciation of the talent, skill and mind-body connection of both athletes, equine & human. Just fascinating. Nothing I possessed, that's certain! :)

Again, may thanks por your postings. This feels like riding with you and visiting all those interesting places. I only wish to be able to smell the what you smell when riding.
I cant wait for the rest of your yet unedited stuff to be posted....

I rode near a paper mill yesterday, ironically I talked about smell-o-vision during that part of the ride. It wasn't an odor anyone would have enjoyed!

    • @charleskarski1140

      Hi Jom,
I know exactly what you mean, I live in Quebec, Canada where we had several paper mill factories, the smell of rotten eggs is really unpleasant but surprisingly people living nearby get accustomed to it and they don't mind this smell after a while...
What I was referring to is your smells when you ride in th southern Georgia, or Florida when the humidity transports smells of pine trees and leaves, horses and cows ....That is when cycling comes in its best!
When riding in Corsica I had an "out this world" experience smelling crock threes, or in Greece smelling "oregano" bushes....
Keep it up, I am traveling with you on every trip!
      Cheers,
      Charles

I lived out in Reston and worked in Louden. Some of the most aggressive and least tolerant motorist I’ve seen. Wish I had a gravel bike when I lived there to get off the main roads.

That post office kind of reminded me that the "Socialist" Sweden where I live is sometimes more capitalist than the US. A number of reforms from the 90s on has closed down all post offices, and "post office" is now a service provided by various grocery stores, supermarkets, and tobacconists.
