Sigh. So much of this is common sense, not ragdoll-specific, and CERTAINLY not reasons enough to avoid the breed.
You also missed an important point at #10 about letting them outside (though it is alluded to in the follow up video) - ragdolls are often less aggressive and can come off second best in fights with neighbourhood cats. Also that they tend to suffer urinary tract infections.
Would welcome another ragdoll into the tribe without hesitation.
The most vicious psychotic feline I’ve ever met in my life was a ragdoll. He would chase humans and attack them 😂
You need to stock up on homeopathic remedies. Cantharis ans aconite, good to cure cystitis in cats rhus tox for joint problems get the homeopathic book to treat cst illneses from ainsworths london england or Freemans of glasgow have books on treating cats with homeopathy. Good luck snd cheaper than vets bills.
@@lae01 we had a ginger and white persian cat when we were kids he just ran into the house and stayed lovely to look at but the nastiest cat ever he would attack for no reason just uterly psychotic. We realise nowbhe was dumped cos of his nasty nature buyer beware and beware what turns up on your doorstep. It was a viscous b*****.
My ragdoll was a pet unlike anything I've experienced. The bond I had with that little guy will never be replicated.
The title of your video suggests Ragdolls are a bad cat breed to own. First, it isn't true, and secondly, all cats should have good care, grooming, vet care, and be kept safe regardless of their breed. I've owned several breeds of cats, and my current Ragdoll is a real gem... just as each of the other breeds were. We actually don't need someone else telling us what cat is best for our family, but you did bring out some important points for all cat owners. I did enjoy your tips, but any cat breed deserves the same.
That's called a "clickbait title" to gain more views.
And to get engagement from people who need to defend their pussies
@@stiprus_garsas Exactly but this person doesn’t care. She will die alone with a cat no one’s too worried.
The 1%...
🤦🏼♂️ 🤦 🤦♀️
I have had 2 Ragdolls, my 1st girl Abby was quite lazy but lived to be 22 years old. My 2nd girl is Bella, she’s my whole world! She’s playful, loving & smart - I’d never own any other breed as the Ragdolls are my favorite breed is worth all of the fur & mischievous adventures!!
22 years!😮
@@sophiaandus3306 ik that's a miracle for a animal to live so long the cats older then me too 🙂
I love my Ragdoll to bits. He's playful, smart & funny. He's so dog-like (follows me everywhere & runs to meet me at the door for a cuddle when I come home from work) I tell people I own a Ragdog cat. I can't imagine being without him & hope he lives to 22 as well!
@@davestuddert4392 How long can a ragdoll be alone? Are 6 hours okay since I plan to get one but my mom and I are at work, but on the weekend we are both at home, is that alright? :(
@@user-kc2jn6xu8z Some days my Ragdoll's left alone for eight hours BUT he does have plenty of places to look out of windows, an outdoor enclosure & toys to occupy himself with while I'm at work. I think it's important to make a fuss of him when I do get home & spend as much time with him while I can
I feel bad because I keep getting “adopt a shelter cat!” Every time I mention wanting a ragdoll to people, but I just want one as an emotional support cat ;; it sounds like they don’t try to claw you as often and you can cuddle them more
Yeah :) Mine was a given to me after being asked by my roommate :) Pure bred :) Emotionally supportive :)))
I have 3 ragdolls. They can be hard work but they are absolute sweethearts. I've had lots of cats and ragdolls are by far my favourite.
Never get a ragdoll. He'll steal your heart.
I have two ragdolls. They really are a great breed. They are like puppies following you around and have the softest fur. My sister-in-law just fell in love with them.
❤️❤️
I had two ragdolls that were my whole world. My sweet beautiful girl lived to be 19 and my handsome boy, (my avatar) lived to be 20. My two ragdolls never had any weight problems. They were both healthy and active and playful until the ends of their lives. I do agree that they should only be indoor cats and that they should have air conditioning since they have long hair. They are a wonderful breed. I miss my two fur babies every day. 💔
I am so glad to hear that! My boy is about 5, and he is the most wonderful companion anyone could hope for. He's indoor and seems quite happy.
I had a male Ragdoll who was an indoor outdoor cat. He lived twenty years. I think they can be fine as an indoor outdoor depending on where you live. Currently I own two Ragdolls who are litter mates but cannot be outside because where I currently live of heavily populated by coyote and probably make cats and small dogs the bulk of their diet. They are a fantastic breed of cat.
That's exceptionally long life for a cat. I'm glad you had that time with them.
I've recently been carrying for three cats left alone when their owner went into the hospital over three weeks ago. They are a Russian Blue, a Siamese and a Ragdoll. The Ragdoll Ralphie has been the most work. He was a rescue that had some trauma and probably PTSD. It's taken me three weeks, lots of toys, treats and calm loving patients but he is such a sweet loving boy now. He plays, cuddles and doesn't hide nearly as much. It's been so rewarding to see him come out of his shell and be part of the world.
The shedding is year round and the brushing is daily. I saved my 2 ragdoll kittens from a horrible backyard breeder who was shut down. I truly love my girls for they pulled me out from a bad period in my life.
This cat is the greatest cat. My first cat ever I’ve been a dog person my entire life but I truly love this cat
Did I just watch "Owning a Cat 101" or something? Literally almost all of this crap applies to *all* cats--and none of it is necessarily bad, or even unexpected, for a cat owner...
Everything she said about Ragdolls can be said about any pet! Full of, well, ya know!
Just adopted a two year old ragbdoll from a rescue centre. She is a beautiful healthy animal. We did a lot of research before adopting Cassie and the rescue centre gave an excellent briefing on what to expect. Happily she suits us and vice versa. Yes they are higher maintenance and require time but you get back what you give.
Did she use the litter trays straight away? I'm scared if I get an adult it's gonna piss on my bed or something
@@haider7866 . Obviously all cats are different but Cassie started using the litter trays straight away. From experience it is best to ask what cat litter she as been using and where in the house the litter trays have been. We were told Cassie would not use a covered litter tray but over time we gradually changed them.
I've had my calico tabby cat for 7 years never never bothered to cat proof my home besides keeping him out of my bathroom. Homie still alive and playing as if he was a kitten.
My ragdoll is an adorable lazy dumdum. I comb him almost everyday. It’s kinda therapeutic for me
I have two ragdoll cats. Brother and sister Charlie and Charlotte. Both have the same bubbly silly playyful personality and of course lots of cuddles
Got my ragdoll from a pretty shitty shelter about a year ago. she's an absolute darling and although half my clothes are constantly covered in fur I would never get another cat
I had a wonderful world class experience caregiving “owning” a ½ ragdoll, ½ ragamuffin cat named Joey. Joey died at 14 years of age of pancreatic cancer. After he first arrived, we learned he had hyper cardiomyopathy. This disease made him a little tired at times. However, this did not stop Joey. Joey was the most wonderful cat I ever lived with. Every time, I entered a room he greeted me, purred incessantly, and rubbed around my legs and wanted to cuddle. He truly made me feel as though I mattered. I did shower him with love, petting, and treats; however, reciprocally he responded greeting me with great love. His constant affection, purring, and even his grace letting me pick him up, and letting work when I needed to work showed me how wonderful cats can be for humans. If you mind a bit of fur, purchase a good vacuum, and a lint brush. As a result of living with Joey, I know how wonderful the breed is and I also know how truly valuable animals are to humans. I will forever remember and love Joey the cat.
I have a Ragdoll/Persian mix. He's such a joy. He has a ton of personality and I'm so glad I have him. I rescue cats, and three of my rescued Persians died within a year of each other. One from old age, one from fevers of unknown origin, and the last from severe bladder and urinary tract problems. The last two came from hoarders. It was horribly sad, and my brother got the Ragdoll for a comfort kitty, and he has been just that.
I had my Benjie for nearly 19 years and I don't regret it.
Why you shouldn't get a ragdoll cat (apparently) TLDR version:
It's still a cat.
I have 2 ragdoll cats they are awesome well behaved they follow us everywhere they are 3 months old
I love love love my rag doll! She is as chatty as my Siameses which I love love love as well. All 3 over talk my Snowshoe like nobody’s business!! 😹😹
I, personally, LOVE the Ragdoll breed. But I also think that I need to know about it first if I want to own one, and this video helped me LOTS to figure out why and how to care for my cuties. Thank u lots!
Just get your Ragdoll groomed twice a year (lion cut fixes hair problem).
Oh my cat only sheds twice a year... 6 months at a time 😺
Do you have to trim fur?
Good heavens THAT VOICE!!! AGGGGGH! Also, I have a rescue Ragdoll who is my whole world. So laid back, happy, and mellow. The best boy in the whole world.
If you ever wanted a puppy but couldn't afford a puppy or have the time for one a ragdoll is the answer. This video makes it sound like Ragdolls are a lot of work but they are the love and fun of a puppy with 1/3 the amount of work and money. Highly recommend you get it. Also they do fine in small apartments. They are bigger cats but they are well behaved and can easily be trained to live in small areas.
No cat should live in small apartments
@@rz4745small apartments are perfectly fine for lazy cat breeds. Not every cat is the same or requires the same amount of space 🤦🏻♀️
I was pleased that my long hair cat didn't appear to shed...until he turned a year old. Still not bad but I was overly optimistic.
I should've named mine Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky. He still my baby. 🙄🤣❣
My seal point ragdoll had the most beautiful personality with amazing violet eyes. She was a shelter kitty.
My ragdoll hardly sheds and never needs brushing. He HATES being brushed. He's also very very energetic. So either I have the except or your facts are just wong.
I have a ragdoll he is my whole world he is always there for me
I mean.. these rules apply to most cats, I'd find it hard to find a breed that didn't need these requirements
Lv my rag doll.♥️😇💯Very SMART he is. House cat.
we have a rag dog and we love her and i love having her around.. I don't honestly want any other cat and would be hard for me to get a different kind when i have to get another one..
Love them hope to keep some when I retire
I have 2 rag dolls and they are perfectly fine
I got my 2nd ragdoll from a backyard breeder. Kitten was sick had 3 surgeries in 3 years. Came with gum disease 😢
My ragdoll is fine outside but doesn’t wander that much because they know if it’s not my garden it’s other cats territory
My fluff is half ragdoll and tuxito.
She's my Grey rag tuxito kitty. They only thing I don't like that she dose is meow constantly
I adopted my cat from a shelter 18 years ago. I believe he is a ragdoll. I’ve found pictures that look exactly like him called a flame point.
when someone who wants to gatkeep Ragdolls makes a video
This video didn't expain why it should get a ragdoll but then convince that a cat in general isn't worth it.
Makes me want to get them even more
Mine might aswell have no legs she LOVED being carried ❤😊
mine had lots of energy. and the hair goes EVERYWHERE. you will see ragdoll tumbleweeds and there's a cat floating in the air at all times. they are adorable but you couldn't pay me to ever have another one.
I take my ragdoll kitten, Storm on walks with me in the garden and sometimes to our park which is really close to my house but when outside I have her on the harness and don't it off him until we get home and the front door is closed
i have a chocolate ragdoll
and shes on heat
Over the summer i found a ragdoll kitten in a random tree, its been 5 months and its already outgrown my 8 year old cat
I would say all those points count for pretty much all cats 😂
I literally got a rag doll cat when this was uploaded
The comment section has more advice than the video itself
NO MY 2 BABIES ARE SO CUTE & FINE THEY ARE THE BEST CAT BREED EVER!~🤩🥰🙄😤
My ragdoll is very social. He cries and meows if you leave him alone.
This video is the perfect example of ' why you shouldn't make videos on UA-cam about rag doll cats'
I love this breed they are sooooooo cute 😍
That’s all they do “Ragdoll are just like ferrets” highly intelligent. I have 4 but I love it. They are highly affectionate . 🤗🤗🤗
I have 2 Rag-doll Birman mixes and they are so cute but one is chubby and lazy boy that loves people and the other one is super slim and active she always catches lizards but is very independent their so different yet their twins
Well I have one and no regrets
Me too, he is the best boy in the world. So loving and calm.
We have a ragdoll boy who moved in from a neighbour because he didnt like living with dogs. He's the laziest grumpiest creature in the universe. Doesn't eat much for his size and he's very bony.
After watching this video make me wanna get ragdoll more. I don't care it's cute and i want it.
I’m new to cats but out of all breeds I’m picking a rag doll to be my first love! I was curious since so many of you commenting have them or had one of you know if the male or female is more affectionate?❤
I dont care what this person says, I'm still getting a ragdoll cat!
I have one Ragdoll her name is coco, she’s adorable, she is very playful
Everyone proceeds to refute against this vid
Ragdolls are amazing ! Get one! Get two!
Are they good mousers?
That is not true I have a ragdoll and it’s OK even if it’s crazy we still love it and who cares what you guys think it’s actually really nice to have one because they’re fluffy they’re carrying it and they’re the right pet for if you’re sad then you can just cuddle him😢
Rubbish, Ragdolls are such beautiful effectionate loving cats, this breed of cat you will not regret in investing in. I live in a 2 bed apartment and my 2 raggies are absolutely fine. This was the best investment I have ever made!!
All cats take work. All animals take work, you have to feed them and keep them stimulated and they must feel loved. I don't know why they feel a Rag Doll is a huge mistake. I don't think they are a mistake, they are just like any other cat.
Hello, We have two maine coon cats at home, I'm wondering if I would get that type of cat, how social is that cat with other cats.Tnx
I had a ragdoll cat and she was the best friend that I could ever have and I highly recommend them and I miss her so much to bits it breaks my heart every when she’s not there so please love them with all your heart people and spoil them rotten too that’s all I got to say. Thank you for reading this I’m Alex
The no 10 tho. I didn't know my siamese cat followed me outside then boom. He's gone 🥹
This isnt true, one of my teachers have a ragdoll, she *LOVES* it. This info is fake.
My Ragdoll, Boudroe, is 10 and still doesn’t shed hardly any, has never had a bath and NEVER had a groomer or a brush near him. He’s sweet and BEAUTIFUL.
My Ragdoll didn’t shed, until he became 8 months old. Now at 1,5 years I’m having hairs in my mouth daily !! Cleaning up daily!!
I have created a whole routine where i switch clothes when I come home. I’m gonna try daily grooming.
Shame on you!
Nice video!
Get what you want and need for you!!!
I love Ragdolls
The only thing I’d say is make sure your able to give these guys a lot of attention. I work about 10 hours a day and I’m a huge animal person and decided to go for a cat because my roomate also has one and I figured they’d be able to hang out while I’m not home where as I don’t think it’s fair to leave a dog alone like that but I kinda feel bad about getting a ragdoll because this guy gets more separation anxiety than any dog I’ve seen. Part of it’s my fault because I spend every minute I can with him but I can’t even go to the bathroom without him banging on the door so I feel really guilty leaving him home during the day even tho that’s the reason I chose a car
I’ll get what I want
Does anyone know where I can find a ragdoll kitten in Florida like this is so hard and I don’t want a regular domestic cat but those are the main cats here 😭 like there’s no rag doll cats anywhere, not at the adoption center, none on Petfinder, and if you do find one rag doll breeder they’re charging $6000 like if that’s the case I might as well buy a Frenchie 😭
Go to an out of state breeder. They can settlers your cat to you on a plane in a carrier.
I found my cat, Mochi abandoned by her mother at just under 2 weeks old. At the time, we lived a block away from a ragdoll breeder. One of the toms must have escaped and gotten a feral cat pregnant because Mochi _definitely_ has ragdoll genes. She behaves like one and looks just like the cat at 0:53 (except she's a shorthair). She's the most unique cat I've ever met.
If she lookslikea ragboll and has a short hair isn't it called siamese
@@user-sf4wb3zn2k That’s not always true though. She’s not Siamese. She’s half Ragdoll and half shorthair. Siamese is a totally different breed.
You should’ve get a cat period!
No I like ragdolls . Mine is super cute
Tell this lady to be quiet i love my 5 ragdolls
I have 3 ragdolls they're so cute and friendly why not get one?
Why the heck does this only have 46 views?? Anyways all these clips of cats are making cry of cuteness.
❤️❤️
I have a ragdoll Snow savannah rag doll. And she is 14 years old in cat years and in human years he is 2. His name is Dougie and I have a main c**n that is named Georgie because he is kind of scared for new people to see it so yeah❤❤❤❤❤❤
Summary: They're cats.
okay but, you're just listing normal cat things.
my ragdoll is silly thats all i could ask for. you should buy a ragdoll these goobers are so silly!!!
You can't generalize for any specific breed. The title might as well be "Why you shouldn't get a cat"
Rag dolls are Best cats in the whole world next too Norwegian forest cats and Turkish angoras
I still want one!
I have a ragdoll beautiful calm cats
I have 4, they are awesome!!!!!!
That's catcist
Excuse me? Ragdolls are amazing. They are nice, cute, fluffy and sooooooooo good! If you are getting a ragdoll, get one it’s such an amazing!
So sad! The ragdoll I love my ragdoll is awesome.
