There's a new model of the Gas burner now (specifically for the Karu 12). I sent a message asking about the differences between the old / new and got this response: "The new model of the Karu 12 gas burner is more powerful than the Ooni Gas Burner with this change you will now need to please leave the chimney attached and vent open. This burner has longer flames that require the draw from the chimney :)" So I'll be ordering this new one and hope that the issue is resolved! Thanks to your video for making me aware of it - I'd just bought the Ooni Gas Burner but hadn't used it yet so will send it back and get the newer model.
Hi everyone . I can confirm that the new DE Version is absolutely fine. Getting 500+ degree Celsius on the top with full flame and the pizza stone is at about 400 in the center. Absolutely perfect without any modification. Just wanted to leave the feedback as I ordered the hose clamps directly after ordering the gas burner without needing them in the end. So the new version is perfect. No issues at all.
@@antartic0945 I cannot talk for the spanish version but the new DE version has oval "slits" as the gas outlets instead of round "valves" like the one in this version.
Thanks for the video I also have a Karu and have the same issue. My work around so far was to close the front door and leave the lit off. But I will try this solution 🙏
It looks fantastic. I bought a ooni Karu recently and I just cooked with the wood so far. I haven't got the gas burner yet but by seeing your video with this modification you did Iam tempted to get one. One question do you think is worth getting the 15cm stone?
Hey! I can now fully recommend to get the gas burner. It's just so easy and works perfectly after the fix. The Ooni Karu's standard baking stone is 15mm thick as well :)
just accidently found these videos after having a really bad result yesterday with the wood version. also got the gas but could never get up to temperature. will try it, thanks
Thank you for your useful sharing. My oven also works with 37mbar, but there is only 30mbar adapter in my country, when I use it with it, it does a very black soot, but I am very satisfied with the oven temperature, it rises to 450 degrees very comfortably. Did this modification increase the amount of soot in your oven?
Hi Nico ! I have a question since I'm finding myself in the opposite situation ahah i have a new ooni karu 12 g and i have a problem of too many Ashes on top of my oven exactly because the orange flame that is a not complete burned when the blue one is and wont make that problem ...now ...i also have the air flow holes in the burner but my flame is orange and not blue like u one ..do you know if they changed anything in the new burners or what could be the difference that makes as if u one ( no air flow )? Thanks for u time
Hey! As far as I know the gas burner in the US should work fine as it is, so I cannot guarantee any good results with this method for your setup. These hose clamps should fit around the burners: amzn.to/2RHHZeF (affiliate Link) Thanks for the support!
Bro please i need ur help . i bought new grill plate/ stove . its brand new and i can't get the thing to turn on . it seems that the gass pressure is to high . no matter what i do to regulate it , its not working . ? any advice ? and what is 20mbr and 50mbr . which one should i use . . i only have on off valve coming out from the wall . do i need to install a regulator ?
Got my Ooni Karu 12 with gas burner today. Mine is the 30mbar version which should be correct for my country. The flames are yellowish-red like yours after the mod. However they seem far too big and sometimes stretch out the oven door. The logo on top of the entrance is already smoked after only the initial seasoning which makes me believe the mixture is too rich. I want to make it a little more lean in order for the flame to become a little bluer and cleaner. The holes are fully opened so I don't see a solution other that making them bigger. However I don't want to make irreversible modifications at this time.
Hey! The soot is normal. The flame has to burn "dirty" otherwise it's not suitable for cooking pizza because there isn't enough radiating heat. If the temperature is fine, there's no need to adjust anything!! :)
It's country specific which mbar amounts you have for your gas connection. The higher the mbar, the more pressure you have. Although 50mbar is technically more powerful, this does not correlate directly to the power/heat output of the gas burner.
@@nicoskitchen5954 My Ooni Pro in Germany does have exactly the same problem. I contacted Ooni and they just told me I should let it heat longer. I always knew that the flame shouldnt be blue because thats not how it looks like in the advertisements.

Interesting!! Mine works well now but I would be curious to see if it actually works like advertised with the new model! Glad I could help you!
How do we know which model I have? I bought one last week for Spain.

Thanks for the video. Now the gas burner works perfectly. It’s a game changer. Greetings from Frankfurt/ Germany
I knew right from the start that something is off, used wood since then. I will definitely try this, thanks.
I tried it and it worked its a huge improvement!
Great video! I’m doing this right away. I made 10 pizzas and always had a problem with the low flame. Thanks 🤙🏼
Hey! Awesome to hear! :)

Very welcome! Yeah, I have tried that too, but this way it is much better, believe me :D
Gas burner is ordered!
Greetings from Lower Austria :)
Haha! Glad to hear that! Bin auch aus Niederösterreich! :D
if you use the door for the front won't it keep the heat in that he says is leaving through the front opening?

Hi, is this design problem fixed in the gas burners they sell in Europe (netherlands) nowadays?
Hey! Unfortunately, I don't know that. But I am not aware of any problems for other countries then AT and DE.
Thanks for your Video! I´ll try it. Can you still regulate the Gas Burner after the fix if you want lower temperatures?
You're very welcome!
Yes, that works, no problem! :)
It seems that you cook your pizzas with the door open. Would you recommend cooking pizzas that way?
This is so awesome thank you so much! I have the gas burner and I want to do this mod. Do you thinks you could put the Amazon link for U.S.?

Uff, I am so sorry, but I cannot really help you there!! :/
This kind of issue applies for any country? Or just Deutschland und Osterreich?
Unfortunately, I really don't know. I can just say that I had this issue with MY burner which is manufacturered for AT and DE. :)

@@nicoskitchen5954 thanks Nico. Really good videos btw 👍
What a shame that Ooni sells this bad gas burner. They dont seem to have any quality control.
It appears to only be bad in Austria and Germany though! And only for the Karu's burner. The Koda and Koda 16 work fine here.

@@illizizon9569 Damn! That sucks! Then I guess both seperately available burners have this issue. No troubles with the Koda series tho! :O
check out my home made pizza oven no need to fix :)
