Yeah, sleeping in the truck is great. I think we’ve pulled out the tent like 2 times since we’ve started sleeping in the back. Only thing I’d like it more head room!
Yeah, I can really see the appeal of it. Especially the (lack of) setup required when getting to camp. You two have mastered sleeping in a Cruiser, for sure. Hope you're both well!
That’s fantastic that you got out in the cold. Layering up and having a heated blanket will keep you plenty warm in the rig. Winter camping rocks!! I love it. Hopefully 2024 will be a year of a lot of firsts for your adventures. You’re not gonna believe this but I watched this video while camping at one of your previous spots. It’s the video where you camped on the peninsula and said it was the worst road you’ve ever driven. I even brought my gas chainsaw to clear that one road but it’s too snowy and narrow to go the long way around in my truck.
Hah, that's awesome! If you're at the spot I think you are the views are amazing. How much snow is up there right now? Looking forward to seeing your video of that spot (and the road if you ventured down it)!
@@WheretoNextOverland not too much snow here. But it’s a slushy mess. There was a small landslide on the way to the spot that took me an hour or so to dig to the point I was comfortable driving over it. I checked out the weather station stuff that’s on the hill it’s for monitoring earth movement (let’s hear it for the cascadia subduction zone yippee). Views are great when the fog cleared but it’s dark and very misty now. About 38°
@scottalpine ahhhhh I was wondering what that weather station stuff was. I didn't even notice it until I was looking at my drone footage when we got home. Haha. Mystery solved!
No doubt! I was surprised how frosted over everything was, especially in areas that don't get much direct sunlight. It was definitely a different experience, but I really enjoyed it
This might be my favorite video of yours. You experimented with a lot here and it paid off. Love it man. Also don’t know where that spot is but I WILL find it lol
Thanks man, that's a massive complement! Definitely stepped outside my comfort zone on this one. As for the spot, you'll laugh when you find out where it is...
Nice video. I live in BC so I can relate with a lot of your PNW camping adventures. You’re making me want to cross the border and sample some of those beautiful spots you’ve been to! Was wondering what brand of chair that you have? I need a new chair and that one ticks all the boxes! Thanks for the videos and hope you get lots of exploring in this summer!
I just found your channel, it seems like you put a lot of work into your videos and I appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into making these productions. I'm a Jeep guy but have been possibly looking at Toyota and Lexus SUVs to travel the country in, mainly the comfort is the reason, I've traveled across country several times in my 2 door Rubicon with a family of 4. It's extremely capable off road, however we have no room inside. I love my jeep, but there's something to be said about a super comfortable and quiet SUV. I almost purchased a lifted Sequoia and a GX but after finding the LX, this is the vehicle I'm going to attempt to hunt down. Thanks!
Welcome to the channel and thanks for the kind words! I have a lot of fun putting these videos together, but yeah .... it does take a lot of work. I think you'll be really pleased with the LX if you go that route. It's such a good combination of off road capability and on road comfort. It DEFINITELY makes crossing states on the freeway to get to your destination a pleasant experience. Not as much of an offroad beast as a Wrangler, but there's tons of aftermarket support and people run the Rubicon in them, so you can make it what you want it to be offroad.
Awesome video, beautiful job, love the drone footage and your rig! Looking forward to getting either an lx or a gx soon. Can you post a link for your tire rack? I haven’t seen anyone show one with the pole. I like the idea of adding extra support.
We bought my 97 4runner about a year and a half ago and it came with a (heavy as f) platform that was rigged together and innitially i used it but i found my fiance and i just didnt have enough headroom. Plus we have 2 dogs and one was a puppy (her first camping trip was at 10 weeks in the runner and she pooped on our sleeping bag 😮) it just wasnt enough room. In the summer it worked ok cause puppy was in her kennel in the front seat and the two older dogs we had with us slept in kennels just outside the truck. But the first time it rained and the wet dogs got in our bedding the i switched to a tent. We have 2 tents now. A big one and a huge 3 room one lol plenty of room for us and the dogs and their kennels. The 3 room one we got incase we brimg anyone elses dogs with us. I sometimes have one or two of my moms dogs with us too. Usually the service dog thats an aussie and sometimes one of her rotts. My dogs are a boxer and a german shepherd so not small either. The boxer is finally getting to the age she doesnt have to be in a kennel so we will be using the big tent not the huge one this year. I also didnt like the fact that the dogs all had access to my gear during the drives (which is how the accident happened) cause i couldnt set up their kennels because the bed was in and made and taking up space. Im also in washington so... you know. Rain. Lol
Oh yeah, sleeping on a truck with two people and dogs would be a hard pass for me, haha! If Christine is with me, it's tent camping all day long....but solo, sleeping in the truck works great!
I wish I could have loved this rather than like it. You have convinced my Evergreen ass (East Pierce County) to go out and get a Lx470 now that my Trooper is sold ❤❤❤❤

Good spot for a quick trip, especially this time of year! Gets cooooold in that valley quick in the winter.
No doubt! I was surprised how frosted over everything was, especially in areas that don't get much direct sunlight.

Nice time!! I am waiting for your next video!!

Thanks! The chair is from frontrunner, and I love it. Comfortable to sit in and compact when folded up

Here's a link to the tire table I use: www.tailgatertiretable.com/
I'd be interested in seeing your camp - Sleeping bag set up!
I've got you! I'm working on editing a full walk-around video of the setup I used for this trip. Should be up on the channel in Jan sometime!
Really well done sir! I also make camping videos and can appreciate the drone footage and camera angles 👍
Thanks! I think the only people who truly understand how much effort goes into making camping videos are people who make camping videos haha.
Yay!

Do it! You won't regret it
Compared to our first ever overlanding trip… How cold was it????
You look much more prepared this time 😂
Probably about the same ..... and yeah, MUCH more prepared this time 🤣
@@WheretoNextOverland right?! I think our coldest got down to 15 - the dog water froze in the morning. Thank god for the buddy heater 💛
