- “Miss Lucy” was recorded with Brad Wood during sessions for ‘Exile in Guyville’ but left off the album in favor of including “Flower.” An early demo version of the song was made available previously as part of the Girly-Sound tapes.
This fall, Matador will also reissue ‘Exile in Guyville’ on limited-edition purple vinyl. The 2xLP is available for pre-order now and will be out October 20th: lizphair.ffm.t...
Her whole career might have been different if “Flower” hadn’t been on the album, and that’s a great, weird track (nothing else sounded like it then, and it still sounds alien), but this is extremely special. The best of the Guyville outtakes. What a privilege to finally hear it 30 years later!
OMg this album meant everything to me? One if the best albums by a female or with that BY ANYONE! She's original, timeless,& a while everyone is following the trends she's busy setting them! Mic Drop...🎤

Everybody in here's older than me by 20-30 something years. So jealous that I wasn't around during Phair's peak. I listen to her religiously though... God her music shreds

Definitely a good call to have Flower on the LP instead. This is great, but Flower is definitely the superior track. I'm wondering why ultimately Wild-Thing/AntinAlaska/Gigolo were cut, and where they'd place on the tracklist.
Gigolo wasn’t recorded for Guyville, that I’ve ever heard.
Ant in Alaska definitely should have been on there. As great as it is, imagine if it had an album release?

This was recorded in 2023 made to appear it was from 1993….

@@n00ber23No. the vocal could only have come from 1992 Liz. This is what she sounded like back then. She sounds nothing like this now. This track was however mixed in 2023 by Brad Wood - he’s said so, and it’s immediately apparent by the hugeness of the vocal sound. Brad is also singing on this, “and the girls and the girls…” etc.
