That's also why Peter was naturally great in his hosting/presenting abilities - very candid, organized and great spontaneity. He showed this in other game episodes as well, the ability to fill-up time (sometimes without viewers noticing) due to low spins being earned. Simply a true professional.
This is why in later episodes, Peter would start using the "easy" stack of questions if contestants were struggling in a question round (either that, or simply reshoot the segment with the easy stack). Also, maybe it's just me, but I think Kathy is one of the...how should I put this? least intelligent contestant in the history of the show (and it has nothing to do with race, JTLYK).
This episode seemed okay, but it probably had some viewers wondering what was happening on "$ale of the Century", the show in the same time slot over on NBC at the time.
Too be fair, the show was still in it's first year. Some press your luck contestants didn't watch many episodes prior to them appearing and only a die hard press your luck fan at the time knew every single prize on the game board.
Why did Margaret keep calling for a trip to China on her appearances? AFAIK, this show never offered one (although one was offered on "Whammy!"). Hong Kong is the closest trip to that, but it was controlled by the United Kingdom at the time.
This whole episode was pathetic. And Peter's blathering on didn't help matters, esp. at the start of the 2nd big board round when he kept going on and on about the prizes up there.
@@robertlalexander4083 Unfortunately, the concept of switching to easier questions wasn't a thing until this episode's lackluster performance. (Later episodes had it to avoid having this very thing happen again.)
Correction... a close examination of the PYL episode guide revealed episode 539, aired 10/17/1985, had a contestant named Doris whom did not win any spins for round 2. She did acquire some by way of them being passed to her but she did not win any herself.
To really speed up (and pad) the episode, all of it was cash, so Rod didn't have to describe any prizes (other than "you won five thousand and fifty dollars!") the winner got.

Peter can actually carry a tune quite nicely!
I think Peter's stalling tactics lasted longer than the second bonus round.
I know, it's like Press Your Luck for Dummies!
1st Pick A Corner hit and nicely played by Kathy with only 1 spin
The show was good before, but this was when it really got good. :)
Love the stalling tactics
This must have been before the producers made an easier set of questions that were used if there were few spins on the board.
This was the very episode to trigger the change.
Who’s here because of the Press Your Luck YMMV page of the TV Tropes website?
Me!
**raises hand**
In total there were only ten spins earned in the question rounds, is that the lowest?

If three contestants had 1 spin a piece in 1986, the show would've still been sped up with all those $500 and $750+spin
I love the Michael Jackson whammy!!

I suspect it's related to these not being the brightest three contestants in the show's history.
Does anyone else agree that Bob looks like Dennis Eckersley
What kind of an oven was Margaret trying to sell at the end?
A radar oven. Most likely a microwave
@@madatown She won it yesterday
Whammy big bank count from 3/1/84
Rerun on GSN:5/8/2005
1st whammy:$1,500
2nd whammy:$2,000
Total:$3,500
16:00 His contestant said to Peter before the end of the game. So cigarettes or no cigars!
That second round was pathetic!

Everyone at 1 spin on round 2
Contrary to R1Q4, Bugs Bunny and "Happy Rabbit" are separate characters, according to the late Mel Blanc's autobiography.
Anyone remember an episode when a contestant got 0 earned spins in round 2.
Maybe you're thinking of episode 427 aired o. 5/15/1985. A contestant named Damon earned no spins in round one but wound up winning the game that day.

But hey $5050 is pretty for only 1 spin

Peter had rambling fever in this episode. His rambling bored me to death. YAWN.
Problem is, there was only one spin to each person. Kinda hard to fill in that time without rambling.
Worst episode ever
March 1st 1984
Yep
Lowest spin totals in this game and the whammy still affected the outcome
Second round lame asf
