Build it and they will come! Ever run out of wood and find yourself starring at all that charcoal wondering how to use it in an offset? Well, not everyone has that problem, but if you do here you go!
Nice basket design, Todd. It's requires less cutting than the design that I used for my previous smoker. You may want to try burning wood in that basket, too. Last weekend, I found a 24"X16" piece of expanded metal. I cut it down to the 19" length of the Yoder fire grate. The expanded metal was placed on top of the fire grate and I began my cook. The expanded metal prevented the coals from falling through, keeping them near my splits. This, in turn, helped to keep the splits burning. I used less wood than I did in my previous cook, and I had less ash, too. It's something to consider. Thanks for these thought provoking vids on the Yoder. I've had mine for just over a month and you bring new ideas to issues that I am encountering.
Nice build. I just assembled my OKJ longhorn combo and wanted to build my own basket. Very sturdy and i like that the bottom has smaller holes due to the overlap of material. Should get long cooks from this. Luv it. Thanks for the share.
Just curious if you have any concerns about galvanized fumes. As a welder I'm always concerned with welding on galvanized or heating up to the point where it creates vapor. I imagine after a couple runs it probably burns it all off. Just feed that to the mother-in-law..🤣
@@GreenhornBBQbeer Hey, appreciate it. My wife really liked your Easter Martini vid. We have a tiki thing going on here too & she is a sucker for bright colors (like a raccoon)😃

Nice build, I think that would be great in my little offset. Easy to do, I will give it a try.
Right on, would live to see it when your done!
Nice fabrication Todd!
Thanks bro, no welds either
Nice build of a quick and easy fire box Todd- I need to make one for my offset OKJ highland
Thanks, let us know how it turns out
Great DIY project, Todd. Some assembly required with a minimal number of tools. Nicely done sir.
Thank you!

Thank you, I tried not to make too many cuts but had to. Cheers
Nice job!!! I'm about to make one myself for my cheap offset.
Thank you and let us know how it turns out!

Very cool!
Can't quite figure out if I need plain steel or RVS (rust free) steel
Pretty cool easy basket Todd! Any plan of setting a handle on it? Dunno if you need one or not.
Not sure about a handle, but it's possible. Thanks for reminding me!
Expanded METAL!!!.....Now we're talking! I can't wait to see how and why you use charcoal in that Pit. Should be good! Metal On! \m/
Very soon my friend...
Awesome idea
Thx
Your welcome!

Not worried, its burned in for 30 minutes before the food went on.
Brilliant!
Hey, cool channel you have going here. I watched a couple vids & I'm subscribing as well.
