I love this version, it lends a different vibe and feeling to the song. What is certainly constant, is that both versions has the unique RCHP style that makes their songs so addictive.
superior version, I had this bootleg back in the day and loved it, was disappointed with the chorus on the album version, but also the bridge, that kind of movement fit this song perfectly like Otherside 2.0
I think the chorus sounds too much like a bridge, I wouldn't have minded if they worked on it as a one time bridge and kept the chorus as it was on the album.
I remember how much I loved this chorus, it gave the song a jagged outlaw western vibe, and my disappointment hearing the Album version for the first time, expecting this chorus and getting....that poppy one instead.
But the "We could all go down to Malibu and make some noise..." part is amazing. But since I'd say most people are used to the album version, this probably feels weird to them. A suggestion for the jagged outlaw western vibe: "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" by Cage The Elephant (if you've played Borderlands, then you've probably already heard it)
I actually like this a little more than the original. The chorus just seems more fitting to me here. Desecration Smile gets really happy out of nowhere in Stadium Arcadium....
No! esta versión fue la “primera” ya que la tocaron en 2004, ya después fue lanzada en Stadium Arcadium (2006) con un coro diferente, el que ya conoces.
This fascinates me because it's the first instance I know of RHCP serving up a song before they'd fully cooked it. It's like what Hendrix used to do when he basically made the world audience his compositional workshop and simply acted as a work in progress for everything he wrote and performed. There are a gazillion variations of his songs out there in the web. I'm really glad they fixed this song into it's current incarnation, though, because this chorus fails miserably by comparison.
They always do it though. Check the 1998 concerts right when John rejoined for the first time. They played some Californication songs before releasing the record a year later.
@@mafeuk No this is different than that. I'm not talking about pre-releasing or playing out songs before they're released officially, I'm talking about CHANGING the songs themselves after having played them as a supposedly finished idea, but deciding later to improve them. It's qualitative, not quantatative.
I love witnessing artists go through the process of making the final version of a song. It's such a beautiful thing.

Yep they definitely chose the right chorus for the album
I deleted this version from my pc more than 6 years ago I think. I've finally found it! :)
The band was saying they didn't like the old chorus but I actually like it quite a bit
It's def not bad, but I'm glad they adjusted it for the album cut
I fuckin love this version and I always find myself coming back to it when listening to Stadium Arcadium
Like the final version better, but the bass is amazing on this one!! almost as complex as the bass in brendan's death song
quick to finish but im slow to start
lovuwenujdgn meadowlark
3:37 i died
Anthony’s always right on with the lyrics 😂😭
definetely the new one is much better
gonna hear it byeeeeeee
My opinion.. I like this, I honestly do, but they chose the right chorus for the album
I remember downloading this waaay before the album came out, love the chorus in this one, totally different vibe
The good ol limewire and winmx days 🥹
Thank god they changed it ... the album version is an upgrade by miles.
i'm so used to the new Desecration Smile, that the chorus here sounds like what the fuck? idk
Cool to hear it! i like the new version better though
quick to finish but slow to start xd
Halo777 like wtf were they thinking? 😂
Sex
Downy Bleach Anthony got it wrong because John had it the other way around, the correct way
Wow it's like build it up then smash it down at the chorus. The record version is like up up up up
It was the 2004 Bridge School Benefit Show.
This takes me back
3:20 epic moments
What a rare "Desecration Smile" music performance. #redhotchilipeppers
not rare at all. this was on youtube even before SA came out.
The bridge sounds so good
That bass part towards the end it's awesome
Paul McCartney was right imo. The new one is better
When did he say this?
@Unchained Chimp there is a video of them just talking about the album
@@Maffo__ SA commentary Desecration Smile
Desecration frown to desecration smile 😃 haha

Intocable
Amazing version

Anthony channelling Neil young
Musically I like this chorus better, lyrically I like the album version.
zkennedy80 couldn't agree more!
The chorus is flat, but it leads so good into the ending
I like the chorus on this one!
The story go's like this. Paul McCartney was side of stage while they played this and he said. "Great song... But you gotta work on that chorus"...
woah
I actually like this a little more than the original. The chorus just seems more fitting to me here. Desecration Smile gets really happy out of nowhere in Stadium Arcadium....
It's because the verses are in the minor key and the new chorus is in major. So it's got that uplifting feel
Cool
The new version is so much better than this one.
I think I like the final version better but this is still cool
essa musica é boa
jajaja, its adictive, just like the new version
I like the bridge from this version better.
Quick to finish but Slow to Start, Anthony Always forget the lyrics hahaha
Wonder how it would sounded with all the vocal layering and instrumentation, woulda definitely been something different
Shout out to Rick Rubin for changing it. This version sounds offish completely.
I don't like this version
No se por qué me tinca que en el coro se le olvidó la letra e improvisó jaja
No! esta versión fue la “primera” ya que la tocaron en 2004, ya después fue lanzada en Stadium Arcadium (2006) con un coro diferente, el que ya conoces.
They could've kept the bridge from this version 💙
The chorus so flat, glad they changed
sounds kinda wiered.
Holy shit im so glad they changed it..that sounded godawful
Yeah I think after listening the album version I prefer that
Could you send me the mp3, please? I know your post is from long time ago but maybe you still keep it (: thank you very much.

Lyrics?
Well, new chorus is catchier, but old one is preety good though
Sounds more One Hot Minute than SA
Oh fuck don't tell John that 😂😂
Sounds more like Califonication but acoustic.
fuck.. the final version is really what the song is supposed to be huh? the chorus here sucks and the album version is perfect
good lord the chorus is awful in this one 😂😂, album chorus in so much better
Guys, this is the same version, Tony just forgot the lyrics in this one
Same here. Its pretty good.
Why did they drop the best part on the album version?
Probably Rick Rubin.
rick rubin said it was confusing or something like that.
The chorus reminds me of a song from Blood Sex Sugar Magik.. I mean the vibe...
Even though the final version is better, this one was not bad!
