Just notice how traditional flute players most of them close their eyes when they play. It is the sound of the instrument, the tone and flow of the tune. Such a great sound to be taken away with and being lost in the music.
Obviously 'form' and 'proper technique' count for nothing when you see that Michael can play this amazingly while resting the flute on his shoulder. What a guy! Love this and the others in the series. Thanks for posting.
So sad to hear the recent news of Dezi's passing away... Him and Michael will be remembered as one of the greatest traditional Irish duos of all time... His fiddle playing was the stuff of legend... So heartbreaking that Michael had to carry his coffin down the road and watch Dezi's coffin being lowered down into the earth... Truly touches my soul. Rest in peace Dezi, you will never be forgotten...
@breandandoire I completely agree with ye there my friend! Well said! Just one thing - it'd be the plural "go raibh maith agaibh" if you're sayin' it to the two lads - but ye couldn't have put it better there! The quality just shines through in every note and ornament here and really highlights how long these guys have been playin' together. They can read each other so well and adjust their dynamics automatically to match the other .
I can't rate this enough... Add the 6th star for this one lads. Beautiful! Great stuff!

+Abigail Barletta Personally I do it because I am really, really easily distracted. :)

Great-here's part 2-fab!
Wonderful stuff! Is he playing a left handed flute? Or a right handed flute left handed?
Fourteen years late, but it looks like a left-handed flute, I think you can see the g# and long F keys by his right hand.
G# key to cut the A at 1:59. nice

Now that they've changed the layout... er... add another hand doing the thumbs up thing. (I preferred the stars)
It's an 8-key flute made by Michael Grinter

Is this a 5-key flute or 8?
