I had a poor young friend I told to look for the comet in the morning and she didn't quite understand you couldn't see it through the clouds. She was up at 3am waiting for it :(
Lucky people with clear AND DARK skies. The comet is not really a naked eye object where I live. If you know where to look, you can kind of sense it with averted vision, but the ordinary person would not see it.
Wow wow wow ! Wasn't able to get any images out here in New Zealand as we were up North rebuilding our rental house for three months after the last tennants ! You have captured some stunning images and the phone images ! wow ! Cheers from NZ

Hi, Walt thanks for these tips, I got some decent photos from my ANDROID S20 FE and it was easier than setting up my Nikon D3200, lol, in which I completely forgot how to get the focus option going after everything else was in-place (laughing). Anyway, I hope you weren't affected by the bridge collapse, etc, not exactly sure where your region of living is, good luck and thanks again.

I was wondering, have you ever done a tutorial for post-processing (and capturing) a meteor shower before? I took my camera to see Perseids this year and was wondering if you had any insights on how you would go about editing it. Quadrantids should be good in January and it’d be great to prepare for it. Great video, and great imaging location! We've had overcast skies through the end of September and then again when the comet came back around. I finally caught it last night (Oct 16) with a nearly full moon. The comet filled the entire frame using a 135mm Rokinon with a ASI294MC Pro camera. I was also doing a time lapse with a 14mm lens, and when I stacked that, the tail stretched nearly 1/4 of the image. Clear skies!
Got some good shots with my S23 Ultra last night. SPen was nice for activating the shot without touching the phone. Used both the 1x and 3x cameras. I like 10-15s at ISO 200-250
I use the same phone attached to my telescope but I prefer voice activation. I keep losing the pen in the dark :p I will try it tomorrow l, fingers crossed
Fun video Walt. I imaged the comet Tuesday night with my old Canon T7i and a kit 200mm zoom. I couldn’t see the comet by eye. I think it’s dimming quickly. I used too much ISO but at least I got it. Thanks

I missed it while in Vermont on Saturday. But I’m back in Vancouver and skies are supposed to be partly cloudy on Monday. I have a Canon 90D with 18-55mm kit lens and a Tokina 11-16mm lens. And a 55-250mm lens.
I'll be given this a run tonight just down the street where I live in the D/FW area. Probably a ton of light polution, but I got Neo-Wise from the same location and it turned out great. Great video! Onward...
Thanks for this video. Watched it before I went out last night. Used my Astro Modified Nikon D810 with an L-Pro filter for the giant moon behind me. Came out quite well. Best shot was at 70mm. I also shot at 50 and 100mm.
I used a night vision scope to take a photo and did video too of it , I can't wait to see how it came out , haven't had time to check them yet. But after work I will check them later tonight.

I have been in production of my Episode of The Comet and had a good run Sunday night, Going out tonight for another shot. Sony Cameras really changed the Game. Im Rolling an A6000 and It just delivers everytime....I find if I am doing Deep Sky, My Canons pull the weight, But if I am doing Landscape Astrophotography, My Sony is the Choice, Especially If you have a good Wide Angle Lens.... I use Sigma Lenses so the image quality is Awesome.... Great Shots of A3.....Clear Skies my Friend......

I‘ve been quite lucky with the comets and traveling, because at home in Switzerland the odds are just too often against you. But in February 2023 we went on our usual skiing vacation in Austria and E3 ZTF was catchable right off the balcony of our hotel 😅! And that’s wheb I first realized why everyone is making such a fuss about stacking pictures with a comet: the damn thing moves visibly over several pictures, but in a different angle then the stars 😩! But eventually I did figure the Siril-stacking process with comets. In April this year - after months and months of rain and storm at home - we visited Egypt. And what was up there in the sky? 12P Pons-Brooks in a beautiful constellation with crescent moon and Jupiter. And right now I am in the South of Turkey enjoying some nice sunny days and guess what‘s the odds when you fly south for three hours to a place with 250 days of sunshine? YES! I took the 70-300 kitlense for my Canon 90D and could barely fit the whole tail into the picture 🤩! Tonight I‘ll probably go with the mighty fifty for stackable comet-shots and maybe an even wider lense for single shots with some scenery around it. The only problem is light pollution, one hotel after the other, but if that’s my worst problem for the moment I can take it 🤩! Thanks for the fun video 👍

Sure wish I could figure out my Canon Rebel T7...24mm f2.8 lens. I have tried MANY times and am doing something wrong. I can't get my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G to take a good pic either. I'm very new to this kind of photography too.
Instead of setting a timer to take a picture, on my Galaxy S23, I went to "Settings" (the little gear in your camera app), "Shooting methods", and turned on "Voice commands". Now when I want to take a photo I just say, "Shoot", and it takes a picture. No more camera vibration.
I have looked for the comet for 5 nights in a row and never saw it. I have seen many comets before. Guess this one is to close to the bright lights of a city.
@@davidaaaa4611 This one has been very close to the horizon. If you are in a city it will be really hard to see. And it happened to be a full moon week. Let's see if it's still visible in the next few nights as the Moon is rising later and later.

The last image is so good. I'm sure if it's true but the tip of the comet looks like the actual stone. There's a little shadow in the front. I've never seen a such detail of a comet.

As I live in the south, I was able to film the comet with a Canon 6D and a Rokinon 100mm lens in September. Nice shots and great lesson! Clear skies.

Got on september 29th, southern hemisphere right before sunrise. Now I got it after sunset. Getting dimmer and dimmer. But totally worth the effort.

I went to a beach at a local lake... and it was closed. Instead I found a picnic area on a hilltop in the area and that worked better.
On the iPhone night mode only shows if the light to the sensor is low. Open the menus in the sun, no night mode. Cover the lens and it will pop up.
