Canada must have very lax disability codes because in the states if you would installed the system the way you did without strobes the school and possibly your company would get in trouble for ADA violations. Were the EST bells vibrating or single stroke?
They were Edwards and they were vibrating you would not be allowed to install the system if it was brand new but you have different rules if it’s replacing an existing system
@@nics-systems-electric Ah that makes sense I guess that's how Canada treats it but even a replacement system without strobes in the US wouldn't fly. You can have horn only, speaker only, or bell only in areas that aren't ADA designated typically hotels, apartments, etc but the hallways and common areas all have to have horn strobes been that way since the ADA was enacted in 1990.
@@GaryBeltz This is partially true, however, in the United States the horn only devices would work temporarily in a school because the code requires strobes in common areas, but it’s okay to not have them as long as they are installed when a hearing impaired person is constantly present. For a school this would be fine especially as a temporary solution for they could send the kid to another school within the same district that has strobes. In new installs they are always a standard part of the system for obvious reasons, but if a system is being replaced, this is okay. Also remember that having strobe would require more devices because strobes are required within 15 feet of each end of the exit discharge In a hallway. Given this setting where a drop ceiling isn’t present, adding those would be difficult so this is a good temporary solution.
