Matilda is definitely better than sls 60 .shotgun = granade launcher. Hawk~uzi but most times hawk is better than uzi. flame thrower > spark shot and its just my opinin Btw i hate mr.x
But then there is Ada's section. She doesn't have enough rounds to kill the four zombies. Maybe if you grab the ammo from the table after triggering X, then go back down and finish them off.

5:15 if you look at it closely, you can see that the beginning Zombie even gives him the massive blood spurt indicating a head explosion, yet the game registers this one isn't allowed to do that. that's actually a really good thing to see to prove that point.
I've played the game many, many times at this point and I will say that there was one occasion where I did actually get a critical headshot on that zombie. That was once out of dozens of playthroughs though. It does seem very rare.

I feel like Claire's weapons look and feel cooler, but Leon's weapons just feel more effective overall and have better diversity in terms of its uses. When comparing each of their weapons with their respective locations I'd either say that Leon's was better or their even. Flame-thrower was better than the Spark-shot, Grenade Launcher feels even with the shotgun ( I don't know why ), Uzi and lightning hawk are even since they're two VERY different weapons and I preferred the rocket-launcher over the minigun.
I think Leon has the best power graduation of weapons, starting from the knife to the handgun to the magnum to the shotgun to the flamethrower, he just has fewer options as he goes up in power, whereas Claire is more limited in options at first but later gets more power. To me, the Spark Shot is anything but logical, but it's certainly powerful and badass.
No way. Claire can incapacitate the ivies with one shot of acid. It won’t kill them but it will keep them from being a threat for a good while. In other words you don’t even have to kill them with her as the acid rounds handle them good enough. And 1 acid then 1 flame round will kill them permanently if you feel the need to. Plus Claire’s acid round can completely stun lock G3 Birkin to where he literally can’t even move and you can just keep nailing him with acid round until he dies. I don’t know if her weapons allow her to kill every enemy, but they’re better to get you through the game.
12:50 This video is 3 years old, but I figured I'd say for anyone new that finds it. If you pop the Ivy's pimples then shoot it with a flame round it will die with one shot every time.
For the weapons: Claire's weapons are much better for Lickers, dogs, G-adults and Birkin number 3. Her grenade launcher, with the acid rounds that stun G3 every direct hit (making for a stun-lock combo if you have enough ammo) and fire grenades that kill Lickers in 2-3 direct hits and do significant damage to bosses. The electric thingy (as I like to call it) is insanely useful against stronger ennemies as it can, at full charge, kill most ennemies in one hit while stunning them (very usefull against ennemies in tight hallways as you can stun them long enough for you to walk around in hardcore mode). Leon's advantage is the shotgun which is MUCH better for regular zombies as a single headshot from point-blank range will blast as zombie's head for an insta-kill, and shotgun ammo are plentiful if you know how to aim and don't waste too much.
I like both characters weapons for different purposes, Leon's for Zombies, Claire's for Lickers and larger enemies. Zombies are more throughout the game so Leon's weapons are more useful for that, in my opinion
Clayvman07 a good strategy with Claire to conserve flame rounds is to only fire one at a licker, then while they’re stunned finish them off with a handgun
That is correct I've been doing Claire A run and It's ez to kill big boy enemies but she can't deal with smol zombos and I have to resort to tanking getting lucky with crits or outright doging
Claire's weapons are pretty cool, but because of Leon's one-shot with the shotgun against zombies and his flamethrower is able to easily kill Birkin's third form, I get why some people would think Leon's weapons are better. Still, I like both of their weapon loudouts, but I prefer Claire's handgun (for higher critical hit rate), machine gun (for easy spamming against dogs/Birkin), and grenade launcher (for lickers/ivy zombies). Heck even the spark shot can sometimes easily one-hit kill zombies and G mutants altogether. In essence, both of their loadouts are quite the same in terms of balance since both of their weapons do have their ups and downs.
Dude, the shotgun handles lickers just as well as the GL and the flamethrower is basically death to ivies. Leon's weapons are just plain more versatile than Claire's.
Leon's weapons are better, mostly because shot gun kills help with head exploding and you can control the amount of flame that comes out of the flame thrower which helps conserve gas with plant zombies, so I agree with ya 😁👍
i think you could probably do it with claire, the smg can be surprisingly efficient at killing zombies if you are really careful with your aim. acid rounds are also really good which is something i didn't realize until further playthroughs. ill have to give it a go some time
I like Leon's weapons best. Even from the OG RE2. Claire has some great weapons, like the Noob tube. Although. They took out the crossbow from the OG game, would have made a great comeback. But, the Uzi is also nice. All of Leon's custon weapons are awesome, it would have been nice to have an option for infinite ammo on all weapons like the Dualshock edition of OG RE2. But. Oh well.
Definitely. Infinite ammo flamethrower. Especially if they started with every weapon in the game in the box. A special option to select before each game as to whether you want all the weapons in the game in the box or not before each start so you can have the option for a clean slate each time.
I found it more fun with Leon but I am more of a fanboy with Leon. I think as well people will lean to Leon more as when the game was released he was like the frontman for the game
Ya every time I've seen challenges to kill everything on hard core or even standard difficulty and they dont count the deaths of all enemies until u reach the RPD
I played HC on Claire after doing both normal and I gotta say, I never once felt I had to be judicious with ammo use. I was saving every shot I could at first, only to notice I was super stockpiling pretty much everything. As long as you play like a normal survival horror, i.e. just avoiding enemies that aren't really in the way and killing the ones that are, you should never have an ammo problem on hardcore mode. That being said, never tried to kill everything, so kudos for pulling it off.
closeup shotgun hit destroys the head 100% of the time even on hardcore. i sometimes run the hardcore speedrun in about 1:10:00 and ive never seen the shotgun fail

Bro leons wepons are the best clair"s weapons are too situational and mostly useful for the monsters like the lickers and Gs and ivys the only real good gun on her side in my opinion is like the JMB and on occasion the MQ11. And the simple fact that leon has the beautiful shotgun
During my playthrough I didn't even know shooting at the Super Tyrant did anything (other than maybe stun him). I still considered him invulnerable so I literally just ran around avoiding his attacks, and only shot him to interrupt the instakill charge.

I somewhat unintentionally did this with Claire. I find the acid rounds work best with the lickers. I preserved enough flame rounds for the ivies. I killed the Gs with a mix of the spark shot and acid rounds. I did get really lucky with critical hits, and in some areas, like the halls where many zombies pile up, I used hand grenades.
I wanted to point out that this was probably possible in the case that the amount of pickup ammo and craftable ammo is finite, but it seems to count how much you have on hand and in box to give you x amount of bullets. (I could be wrong) As I've heard before the game is design to not be helpful when you tried to hoard supplies. I was working on a trophy and decided to use the infinite rocket to do it, and I noticed as I was picking up ammo, I was only getting like packs of 3 a whole lot, assuming because I never used it I had an abundance. So he probably collected and made a whole lot more since he was using so much more then the standard playthrough.
There's a challenge online to kill at least 100 enemies on hardcore and most people who do it dont use the infinite knife and usually just kill every enemy even special back tracking to have new enemies spawn so normally after beating the challenge have over 115 kills. U r absolutely right that zombies dont endlessly spawn through the windows. There's a certain amount of zombies set to come through each window that is designed to have zombies come through. As for claire and Leon's campaign and which has better damage it's honestly claire . With leon u start off with the Matilda so in the beginning leon does have the better pistol. Claire starts with the snub nose. Once claire has the browning then it's way better then the Matilda, Leon's shot gun isn't nearly as good as the gernade launcher and won't be up to par till u get both shotgun parts which is towards the end of the game so u dont get to use it till way late in the game.the desert eagle is better then the SMG but the recoil is bad and it isnt amazing till u get the parts. The SMG is very good once u get down how to handle it and get just the shoulder stock.over all Claire's weapons are better because the dps is more consistent throughout the game compared to leon who doesnt have very consistent dps till later in the game.not to mention on B scenario Claire's starting gun has a much higher chance of critical shor.for lickers for example need roughly 5-7 well placed shotgun shells but only need 2 of any grenades from Claire's grenade launcher.G monsters are way more effected by the spark shot compared to the flamethrower. It's all about knowing when to use the flamethrower and spark shot. If u use the spark shot during birkin stage 3 fight u can kill him in 1 and half cycle . Flamethrower and not even desert eagle can do that. It's seriously all about learning where and when to use each weapon and it take lots of hours and practice. Yes you can finish the final fight with mr.x by not shooting a single bullet. Just have to learn his pattern . U can actually look at enemy kill count not only throughout the entire game but at the end of the game. If u go to residentevil.net and make an account (it's free. U just need an email address and say u r playing on xbox,pc or ps4) when u start your playthrough use your phone and go to residentvil.net and make sure u r signed in (or laptop w.e. . U can use your xbox to go to the website and play the game at the same time but I noticed on ps4 u cant) everytime you save it updates the account on residentevil.net and there's a tab to see your current game data and tells u how many enemies you've killed so far,how many times you have taken damage,how many healing items used,how many steps you have taken,how many times youve opened the item chest,which weapons you have and haven't used etc) it was made so players can check their progress during an online challenge but u dont have to be trying to do a challenge to see all of this. U r correct that the zombies in the beginning in the city is impossible to kill all of them so no u didn't fail. U really shouldn't start counting the "kill everything "until u r in the rpd. They changed the challenge so that using any infinite weapons, including the infinite knife, nullifies that playthrough. I haven't checked the challenges since April, so they could have changed it back since then, but I doubt it.
Absolutely agree. The grenade launcher with flame rounds is good but it sucks against ivies, and the acid rounds are trash. Magnum all day. Leon's Matilda, high caliber handgun, and Magnum as a whole are better than both of Claire's revolvers revolvers as a whole.
Belmont Acid rounds are pretty good against lickers and G3, SMG is pretty good against G adults, but yeah, Claire doesn’t have an instant kill option like Leon does.
One flame round kills an ivy if you use 3-4 smg rounds to pop its spores and make it fall on the ground. I've burnt up to three ivys simultaneously with a single flame round by making them all fall in the same location. Acid rounds can perpetually stun-lock G3, and stuns lickers for 11-13 seconds per round. Leon's shotgun deals 44% less damage to Lickers while they die with a single flame round if they are on the ground and you hit them directly, regardless of difficulty. Lickers also take 285% damage from the sparkshot so they always die from one full shock as well. Her SMG innately deals 30% less damage to zombies, but is one the highest DPS weapons in the game on everything else. Claire's high powered rounds for her SLS are equivalent to Leon's magnum. The Lightning Hawk's scope increases its damage by 10%, but that's hardly much of a difference. Her high-powered rounds, just like Leon's Lightning Hawk, is coded to override damage numbers and become an instant kill when hitting a zombies head, whether that damage value would have actually killed them or not. Claire's JMB is laser-sighted so it always has the 50% full-zoom damage bonus, as where the Matilda requires you to stop moving and let the reticle shrink to pinpoint to get that bonus. Only the first shot in the Matilda's burst fire receives the zoom bonus. Basically, once you know the numbers, and the literal percentages that every enemy takes from what, Claire's weapons outshines Leon's by a mile. When first playing it's nice having something to easily take off zombies heads with, but that's quite literally the only thing Leon has going for him.
To kill Ivy monsters as Claire, use the MQ11 to pop the orange bubbles, then shoot it with a flame round when it falls. Takes only one flame round and a handful of machine gun bullets per Ivy. You can even lure several together and kill like three with one, lol.
When i play leon a i end up having alot of ammo left. Usually end with over 100 handgun rounds, around 40-60 shotgun rounds, use magnum only on super x but by that time i have about 25 extra rounds mag ammo, even have extra flamethrower fuel. I usually skip lickers and g embryos and just stay away from ivy zombies. G embryos and ivys are pretty much ammo dumps so theyre the problems i dont deal with. Also first birkin fight found his health is about the same as one knife, i used one knife once cause i forgot the other, no grenades, dropped all in chest except the one knife and 2 healing items. Dont know if the knife gets crits, if so that may have helped the one knife Also i usually just leave the eastwing zombies alone and end up wiping out the west side except for 6 zombies
There's a video I saw on youtube: "Beating Resident Evil 2 (the original) on Danger" but on the last tyrant boss (before Birkin on the train) he uses an infinite bazooka because he claims "It's impossible to beat it on danger status" Time to destroy that claim, Dante.
On the subject of Leon vs Claire, The SLS does more damage than the Matilda, you just gotta make your shots count. Claire's JMB is straight up the best handgun in the game. Flame grenades one-shot every zombie, guaranteed, regardless of range, and will cripple lickers if it doesn't kill them outright, and also severely drains the health of g adults without needing to hit them in the eye. Only issue is you need conserve rounds for ivies (but if you can pile collapsed ivies atop one another you can kill them all in a single round) Acid rounds also put the hurt on zombies. Sparkshot appears late but also kills zombies in one hit. The smg is a little lacking by comparison, but it's good for killing dogs and popping ivy bulbs. The upgraded SLS somewhat compensates for the lack of a magnum.
It's Leon's first day, and he wants to do his best.

The electric thingy (as I like to call it) is insanely useful against stronger ennemies as it can, at full charge, kill most ennemies in one hit while stunning them (very usefull against ennemies in tight hallways as you can stun them long enough for you to walk around in hardcore mode).
Leon's advantage is the shotgun which is MUCH better for regular zombies as a single headshot from point-blank range will blast as zombie's head for an insta-kill, and shotgun ammo are plentiful if you know how to aim and don't waste too much.
Also if you get a licker on the floor the fire rounds kill them in one
I like Leon's weapons better. That fully upgraded shotgun and the mile long Desert Eagle are my favorite.

I like both characters weapons for different purposes, Leon's for Zombies, Claire's for Lickers and larger enemies.

That is correct I've been doing Claire A run and It's ez to kill big boy enemies but she can't deal with smol zombos and I have to resort to tanking getting lucky with crits or outright doging

Claire's weapons are pretty cool, but because of Leon's one-shot with the shotgun against zombies and his flamethrower is able to easily kill Birkin's third form, I get why some people would think Leon's weapons are better.
Still, I like both of their weapon loudouts, but I prefer Claire's handgun (for higher critical hit rate), machine gun (for easy spamming against dogs/Birkin), and grenade launcher (for lickers/ivy zombies). Heck even the spark shot can sometimes easily one-hit kill zombies and G mutants altogether.
In essence, both of their loadouts are quite the same in terms of balance since both of their weapons do have their ups and downs.
Dude, the shotgun handles lickers just as well as the GL and the flamethrower is basically death to ivies. Leon's weapons are just plain more versatile than Claire's.

Leon's weapons are better, mostly because shot gun kills help with head exploding and you can control the amount of flame that comes out of the flame thrower which helps conserve gas with plant zombies, so I agree with ya 😁👍

i think you could probably do it with claire, the smg can be surprisingly efficient at killing zombies if you are really careful with your aim. acid rounds are also really good which is something i didn't realize until further playthroughs. ill have to give it a go some time
I like Leon's weapons best. Even from the OG RE2. Claire has some great weapons, like the Noob tube. Although. They took out the crossbow from the OG game, would have made a great comeback. But, the Uzi is also nice. All of Leon's custon weapons are awesome, it would have been nice to have an option for infinite ammo on all weapons like the Dualshock edition of OG RE2. But. Oh well.

Definitely. Infinite ammo flamethrower. Especially if they started with every weapon in the game in the box. A special option to select before each game as to whether you want all the weapons in the game in the box or not before each start so you can have the option for a clean slate each time.
I found it more fun with Leon but I am more of a fanboy with Leon. I think as well people will lean to Leon more as when the game was released he was like the frontman for the game

I played HC on Claire after doing both normal and I gotta say, I never once felt I had to be judicious with ammo use. I was saving every shot I could at first, only to notice I was super stockpiling pretty much everything. As long as you play like a normal survival horror, i.e. just avoiding enemies that aren't really in the way and killing the ones that are, you should never have an ammo problem on hardcore mode. That being said, never tried to kill everything, so kudos for pulling it off.

closeup shotgun hit destroys the head 100% of the time even on hardcore. i sometimes run the hardcore speedrun in about 1:10:00 and ive never seen the shotgun fail

Bro leons wepons are the best clair"s weapons are too situational and mostly useful for the monsters like the lickers and Gs and ivys the only real good gun on her side in my opinion is like the JMB and on occasion the MQ11. And the simple fact that leon has the beautiful shotgun

During my playthrough I didn't even know shooting at the Super Tyrant did anything (other than maybe stun him). I still considered him invulnerable so I literally just ran around avoiding his attacks, and only shot him to interrupt the instakill charge.
Normal difficulty is already a nightmare with ammo management. Kudos to you being able to do this

I somewhat unintentionally did this with Claire. I find the acid rounds work best with the lickers. I preserved enough flame rounds for the ivies. I killed the Gs with a mix of the spark shot and acid rounds. I did get really lucky with critical hits, and in some areas, like the halls where many zombies pile up, I used hand grenades.

Yeah, beating hard mode while also killing every enemy is cool, but that credit music though...it’s amazing
I wanted to point out that this was probably possible in the case that the amount of pickup ammo and craftable ammo is finite, but it seems to count how much you have on hand and in box to give you x amount of bullets. (I could be wrong) As I've heard before the game is design to not be helpful when you tried to hoard supplies. I was working on a trophy and decided to use the infinite rocket to do it, and I noticed as I was picking up ammo, I was only getting like packs of 3 a whole lot, assuming because I never used it I had an abundance. So he probably collected and made a whole lot more since he was using so much more then the standard playthrough.
There's a challenge online to kill at least 100 enemies on hardcore and most people who do it dont use the infinite knife and usually just kill every enemy even special back tracking to have new enemies spawn so normally after beating the challenge have over 115 kills. U r absolutely right that zombies dont endlessly spawn through the windows. There's a certain amount of zombies set to come through each window that is designed to have zombies come through. As for claire and Leon's campaign and which has better damage it's honestly claire . With leon u start off with the Matilda so in the beginning leon does have the better pistol. Claire starts with the snub nose. Once claire has the browning then it's way better then the Matilda, Leon's shot gun isn't nearly as good as the gernade launcher and won't be up to par till u get both shotgun parts which is towards the end of the game so u dont get to use it till way late in the game.the desert eagle is better then the SMG but the recoil is bad and it isnt amazing till u get the parts. The SMG is very good once u get down how to handle it and get just the shoulder stock.over all Claire's weapons are better because the dps is more consistent throughout the game compared to leon who doesnt have very consistent dps till later in the game.not to mention on B scenario Claire's starting gun has a much higher chance of critical shor.for lickers for example need roughly 5-7 well placed shotgun shells but only need 2 of any grenades from Claire's grenade launcher.G monsters are way more effected by the spark shot compared to the flamethrower. It's all about knowing when to use the flamethrower and spark shot. If u use the spark shot during birkin stage 3 fight u can kill him in 1 and half cycle . Flamethrower and not even desert eagle can do that. It's seriously all about learning where and when to use each weapon and it take lots of hours and practice. Yes you can finish the final fight with mr.x by not shooting a single bullet. Just have to learn his pattern . U can actually look at enemy kill count not only throughout the entire game but at the end of the game. If u go to residentevil.net and make an account (it's free. U just need an email address and say u r playing on xbox,pc or ps4) when u start your playthrough use your phone and go to residentvil.net and make sure u r signed in (or laptop w.e. . U can use your xbox to go to the website and play the game at the same time but I noticed on ps4 u cant) everytime you save it updates the account on residentevil.net and there's a tab to see your current game data and tells u how many enemies you've killed so far,how many times you have taken damage,how many healing items used,how many steps you have taken,how many times youve opened the item chest,which weapons you have and haven't used etc) it was made so players can check their progress during an online challenge but u dont have to be trying to do a challenge to see all of this. U r correct that the zombies in the beginning in the city is impossible to kill all of them so no u didn't fail. U really shouldn't start counting the "kill everything "until u r in the rpd. They changed the challenge so that using any infinite weapons, including the infinite knife, nullifies that playthrough. I haven't checked the challenges since April, so they could have changed it back since then, but I doubt it.
I'm constantly baffled by people who said Claire's weapons are better. Her launcher is trash and SMG spray heavy. Leon's Shotty is way better
Absolutely agree. The grenade launcher with flame rounds is good but it sucks against ivies, and the acid rounds are trash. Magnum all day. Leon's Matilda, high caliber handgun, and Magnum as a whole are better than both of Claire's revolvers revolvers as a whole.
Belmont Acid rounds are pretty good against lickers and G3, SMG is pretty good against G adults, but yeah, Claire doesn’t have an instant kill option like Leon does.
One flame round kills an ivy if you use 3-4 smg rounds to pop its spores and make it fall on the ground. I've burnt up to three ivys simultaneously with a single flame round by making them all fall in the same location.
Acid rounds can perpetually stun-lock G3, and stuns lickers for 11-13 seconds per round. Leon's shotgun deals 44% less damage to Lickers while they die with a single flame round if they are on the ground and you hit them directly, regardless of difficulty. Lickers also take 285% damage from the sparkshot so they always die from one full shock as well.
Her SMG innately deals 30% less damage to zombies, but is one the highest DPS weapons in the game on everything else.
Claire's high powered rounds for her SLS are equivalent to Leon's magnum. The Lightning Hawk's scope increases its damage by 10%, but that's hardly much of a difference. Her high-powered rounds, just like Leon's Lightning Hawk, is coded to override damage numbers and become an instant kill when hitting a zombies head, whether that damage value would have actually killed them or not.
Claire's JMB is laser-sighted so it always has the 50% full-zoom damage bonus, as where the Matilda requires you to stop moving and let the reticle shrink to pinpoint to get that bonus. Only the first shot in the Matilda's burst fire receives the zoom bonus.
Basically, once you know the numbers, and the literal percentages that every enemy takes from what, Claire's weapons outshines Leon's by a mile.
When first playing it's nice having something to easily take off zombies heads with, but that's quite literally the only thing Leon has going for him.
I kill nearly every enemy in my hardcore runs. And the amount of ammo you get is insanelly high.

To kill Ivy monsters as Claire, use the MQ11 to pop the orange bubbles, then shoot it with a flame round when it falls. Takes only one flame round and a handful of machine gun bullets per Ivy. You can even lure several together and kill like three with one, lol.
When i play leon a i end up having alot of ammo left. Usually end with over 100 handgun rounds, around 40-60 shotgun rounds, use magnum only on super x but by that time i have about 25 extra rounds mag ammo, even have extra flamethrower fuel. I usually skip lickers and g embryos and just stay away from ivy zombies. G embryos and ivys are pretty much ammo dumps so theyre the problems i dont deal with. Also first birkin fight found his health is about the same as one knife, i used one knife once cause i forgot the other, no grenades, dropped all in chest except the one knife and 2 healing items. Dont know if the knife gets crits, if so that may have helped the one knife
Also i usually just leave the eastwing zombies alone and end up wiping out the west side except for 6 zombies

On the subject of Leon vs Claire,
The SLS does more damage than the Matilda, you just gotta make your shots count. Claire's JMB is straight up the best handgun in the game.
Flame grenades one-shot every zombie, guaranteed, regardless of range, and will cripple lickers if it doesn't kill them outright, and also severely drains the health of g adults without needing to hit them in the eye. Only issue is you need conserve rounds for ivies (but if you can pile collapsed ivies atop one another you can kill them all in a single round) Acid rounds also put the hurt on zombies. Sparkshot appears late but also kills zombies in one hit. The smg is a little lacking by comparison, but it's good for killing dogs and popping ivy bulbs. The upgraded SLS somewhat compensates for the lack of a magnum.
