Been an artist for decades. Gone to college got my degree in illustration and masters in studio arts. Probably one of the first and most important things I learned in school was that “expensive supplies do not make you a good artist”. If you don’t understand the fundamentals all the copics, belton, and arches in the world won’t make your art “better”.
That being said, I buy the top of the line supplies the first time EVERY time. Not because I have illusions about the imparting of skill from an inanimate object but because grampa always said “buy cheap, buy twice”.
if you're unable to get clean outlines because your 30cent fineliners just don't flow for more than 3 or 4 cm at once, chances are a 3-4usd/eur fineliner will fair a lot better.. Of course expensive supplies don't make you a better artist, but they make stuff a lot easier, a lot of times. I started buying cheap and changed that behavior really quick - but tbh i still keep some cheap things around - no need to take the good stuff when i'm trying out different / new things - though it's amazing to see how differently higher quality products behave compared to their cheap counterparts more often than not.
Not sure the last time you bought " cheap" paint, but rusto is 7-8 bucks a can these days and krylon about the same. A person can obtain better cans at almost the same price. Its just not even a decision anymore. Unless someone just likes rusto. Of course there is many other " less quality" brands out there ,I just used the 2 main ones for example. Far as markers etc. I say its an economic decision....I use everything and anything for slaps and tags....If I got the money I am buying molotow, deco, poscas and list goes on. If not I would get whatever is cheaper down the line. Plain and simple.....I am not ridiculous to think more expensive makes a person better at whatever they produce. But opacity, and line work etc. is alot better with higher priced product, so if one is putting in work to progress and has the money than get better stuff I say.....Also if you really into creating...painting, drawing etc. you can look around and obtain all sorts of products that wont break your bank and are decent, or find stuff on sale....
Haha I know it feels like the price of paint has kinda hit a head. I think there is still a place for rusto since I can drop in and buy it last minute for a project but those that can plan ahead and order online are going to be the economists of the future haha
@@S1VE yeah I feel you...have you tried the paint that Walmart carries now called PINTY PLUS EVOLUTION? It is an acrylic water based paint, made in Spain. It isn't to bad. It is high priced, and unfortunately has a male valve system.... But it is available at least. It would make an interesting review. I don't think I have seen anyone do one using it for graffiti. It would be costly though.
I agree one 100% the price for rusto is ridiculous now a days I much rather buy European cans any day especially bc where I live at the paint is in cages now.
man i bought like 8 cans of montana gold in my life and every color except for black and white were duds, shook the shit outta them with fresh caps and everything ffs lol
Great video dude love how many uploads you’ve been grinding it really means a lot, as a lover of ur content haha thank you! Do more tutorials too! Those go crazy numbers for u
you don't pick a style.. the style picks you! EDIT: What i really wanna say is: you shape your style over time just by messing with forms you like, there is no such thing as "picking your style" without "copying a style"..
Sive, the legend!!!! I'm a fellow artist and I have been working on my style for a while, and I seem to be struggling with symbols. I'm trying to create a full-detail piece for a group in a game I am a part of for our guild. A crucial character in our name is the "@" symbol; do you have any tutorials for this symbol and other symbols/glyphs like an ampersand "&", the hash tag "#" and others alike? This would be a BIG help for me, brother! Love all of your content, and the inspiration you project into the art world! Keep the vibe alive!
The only cans I’ve had consistently clog on a somewhat regular basis are sugar cans. Theyre great for learning or painting inside but they clog and the paint will flake off after about a month under the sun. I think every throw or piece I’ve ever used it on has Mad UV damage to it if it’s still there.
Caps will clog but you really have to try to get valves to clog up on most cans. You can totally avoid it by flipping the can at the end of the day and spraying out a bit of propellant only

Haha I can totally agree, they only help so much with the end quality, but they can significantly improve how fast you get to a good final piece

I've been using Dang for a while and I love it. 5 to 6 bucks a can and its quality imo

Use the better supplies, it is about having fun in the end. Time flies and you might never use what you already paid your hard earned money for.
Where i live the cheap spray paint is expensive and the expensive spray paint is cheap

Do you have issues with cheap v pricey paint cans clogging up?
