Absolutely brilliant video, great to see the method to the magic. The results really do speak for themselves and I’ve definitely picked up a good few tips. Would definitely like to see more videos like this in the future 👍👍👍
@Angry 7 I’d absolutely be interested in a repaint how to video especially. Always been a big fan of your work (in fact, I’m the bloke who bought your GBRf 47739 and DRS 37423 resprays off eBay a few months ago) so would love to see more of how it’s done 👍
@@Towbridgejunction no problem. I have a couple of locos that I want to respray so will look into starting them soon. Glad they have a good home (miss 47739 especially, i can’t have everything though). 47749 is one on my list.
Dean thank-you for the kind words. Thought that sharing some knowledge and trying to get people to have a go would be a good idea. I will definitely do an airbrush vid at some point. Andy.
Andy this was fantastic so much so i have ordered my paint as you used and going to give this a go. Really interested to see how you weather chassis with air brush would like to learn that too if you have time. Couple of questions any brown in particular for the wheels and do you varnish after weathering or is it quite robust as just the wash/paint. Thank. Nik
Thanks Nik. Airbrush weathering of chassis will absolutely feature soon. I use either frame dirt or sleeper grime from railmatch. You can adjust the colours with black or white to get exactly what you want.
Thanks. Uni Posca paint pens is what you want. They can have either fine tip or bullet (I have bullets in a few colours). Really useful and quick to do.
This is a great method and a really useful video. I had a go today (with MIG panel line wash as I couldn't source the Tamiya panel line easily in the UK without paying over the odds. It has worked well but I think the thinner I have used (Humbrol enamel) is too aggressive as it has faded some of the livery along with the wash. Did you spray a varnish coat first or is there a better thinner to use? It is a Bachmann Super GUV so would have anticipated the same stock finish as in your video. Thanks! Luke
That’s great Luke, glad it inspired you. I have only ever used the Tamiya panel lines and really can’t fault it (I personally wouldn’t try anything else as it’s so good). As for thinner I just use white spirit, cheap and not too harsh. Also I never varnish before (unless I had repainted something). The RES stock I did was straight onto the factory finish (didn’t varnish afterwards either). Hope that helps Andy
@@angry7518 thanks Andy! I can see the advantage of the Tamiya with the brush in the lid, as the mig wash constantly separates with a weak wash at the top and the stronger mix at the bottom, frustrating! I switched the cheap white spirit and the result has been much better, thanks for the tip 👍🏻
Excellent video need more of these west coast railway bought a lot of these or the royal mail ones excellent work cheers Paul
Brilliant stuff Andy. Very helpful tutorial and impressive results.

Thank you. I absolutely do intend to do more if the feedback is positive. I may also do a how to on repainting items and then applying transfers, etc.

A great insight. Thks for sharing. Now where are my paints….
Great informative video - thanks.
Awesome video. Glad you decided to share the wisdom. I hope you do an airbrush tutorial some time.
Good to hear your dulcet tones!
Best wishes, Dean.

Looks fantastic, I couldn't make out what pen you said you used to do the cantrails?

Nice one ! That’s about the level of weathering I’d like for my coaching stock and will have a go 👍 are those washes acrylic or enamel? Cheers Darrell
Darrell thanks and let me know how you get on. They are enamel based, don’t let that put you off though. So easy to manipulate.
@@angry7518 nice one thanks, I’ve got some enamel washes and I’m itching to have a go this evening 😆
