  • TiParts Titanium Brompton Stem S Type
    Titanium is as strong as some steels but has less weight. The two most useful properties of the metal are corrosion resistance and strength-to-density ratio, the highest of any metallic element.
    It is not a straightforward install like the original steel Brompton stem, tried different ways of installing it but you are lucky as you don't need to scratch your head, we will show you guys how we manage to install this bad boy Titanium stem from Ti Parts Workshop!

    Issue with these is the angle of the wedge. If you notice the wedge angle is straight following the handlebar to prevent the forces when riding/braking etc. Most if not all titanium stems I see wedge angle follows the hinge. My titanium stem has the same issue as well. Fits and tightens fine but could be better👍🏻

      This issue is also mentioned by Brompton Family Time channel's Ti Parts video for the same problem, though after sending the problematic stem to Ti Parts, they were able to take care of it. But Brompton Family Time had to pay the shipping and wait a long time for the shipment to arrive at Ti Parts facility. Ti Parts was able to send the replacement part that worked well but would've been better if they got it right the first time.

      Brompton stem are almost a kilo! As long as you have a trusted brand to replace with and im sure you will not regret it, the original one is rusted on this CHPT3.

      honestly, we couldn't tell apart from the noticeable weight lost in the front end, its from Ti Parts so the build quality is just amazing.

    As far as I can see,you use caliper brakes,which deserve short pull handles.
    But to me it seems you use long pull handles suitable for cantilever brakes,which ask for high pulling power on caliper brakes.Am I wright or is it an illusion?

    • @781BromptonPremiumParts
      @781BromptonPremiumParts  Рік тому +1

      Hi there, it could be an illusion as the levers are for short pull and made for side pull or caliper brakes by Ridea I think you are referring to Paul levers which are made for cantilevers brakes, we like your technical knowledge as it is correct, we also tried V brakes levers to caliper brakes and the result is not very good then we tried this Ridea and there is no turning back, it is a perfect for our Brompton setup.

      @@781BromptonPremiumParts At least I know that the original brakes on my Lightweight functions excellently! Going down a steep serpentine hill I had to fully brake at intervals, to be able to pass the "cattle bars" over the road, from very high speeds. Finn. Denmark
