I attempted CMA US exam last week and faced the similar problems as you mentioned. Especially, the study time span, I lost the focus around after 2 hours and I did the preparation via self study package but it's hard to complete the full course with 2 revisions in 4 months with full time job and sometimes it takes long to digest one topic because it requires some basic prerequisite concepts to understand the definition only. Therefore, I think, one should determine well his/her total preparation duration before sitting in exam, otherwise it's just waste of money with incomplete preparation.
