In a recent interview with Vlad,TV comedian Aries Spears recalled some of his experiences with the late rapper DMX. Spears shared how he and DMX, real name Earl Simmons, were eating at a popular hangout spot in Los Angeles in the 90s when an overweight woman walked past them. Seemingly out of nowhere, DMX called her "ham," leaving Spears confused but amused at his unpredictable behavior. Spears also recounted when he played DMX's mother in a MadTV skit; he realized then just how complicated the rapper's relationship with his mother was. DMX initially resisted participating in the skit until he read it, finding it hilarious. The interview touched on DMX's difficult life, including a rough childhood marked by abuse and neglect, and his deep connection to dogs that served as his companions during times of homelessness. Ultimately, the interview shed light on DMX's complex personality, full of trauma and yet bursting with vitality.

X was so huge and legendary that he was a main stage performer at Woodstock '99 to like a 200,000 person crowd of mostly white people there to listen to nu-metal and rock bands. No entourage, no gimmicks, he just took the stage by himself with his DJ and killed his set. I've never seen any rapper do something at that level alongside the fact he was as real a human being an artist as it gets. RIP to that man.
Saw X when he first hit it big during the hard knock life/ryde or die tour and then again at the cash money/ruff Ryders tour a year later. By far the best rapper I’ve ever seen live. His intensity and energy was unmatched. He had such total command of the audience that he had the lights turned off and led the fans in a prayer and not a single person said a word during it.
Closest rap event that could rival that crowd back then was Up in Smoke tour… but those were rap fans. DMX performed in front of a bunch of white kids and still killed it.

Idk how great it was cuz we all seen how ruff he had it with drugs, jail, his kids, he spoke about how bad his childhood was etc. Like I wouldn’t wanna live thru any of that

As someone who was around as a young kid when X first dropped to witnessing his demise, all I can say is comments like this make me wanna cry. He was a genuine soul. I saw him in concert where he killed it solo dolo by himself. I've interacted with him on Twitter/X. He was always a solid genuine dude.

The foster facility that DMX was at I went for a job interview there. It's in upstate New York. It looked like a nice facility but I didn't get the job.
