- ℹ️ ABOUT TODAY'S EPISODE:
Join me as I taste the 12 year expression from "The Beast of Dufftown" and a sherry influenced 12 year from Tain filled with "warmth and passion." And I'll give you a little background on the "Wee Witchie" and a very unique distillation number...not 2 times...not 3 times distilled, but 2.81 times distilled. The two contenders:
MORTLACH 12 "The Wee Witchie"
43.4% ABV, 2.81 times distilled, chill filtered, color added
GLENMORANGE "The Lasanta"
43% ABV, 12 Year, Sherry cask finished, chill filtered, colorant unknown
(note, this was also sold as 46% and non-chill filtered)
‼️ DISCLOSURE ‼️
These whiskies were purchased by me.

🙏 SPECIAL THANKS for supporting Whiskey Lore and real whisky history!

Do you calorie count when sipping whisky?
Are they actually similar? How do the prices compare?
They're within a couple dollars of each other. I see Mortlach 12 for around $59 and Lasanta around $57.
@@WhiskeyLore Here the Lasanta can be bought for £35 - £37. The Mortlach 12 Wee W is £47. Does that change your view on which you would buy, or do you think the Mortlach is worth getting?
@@sgoody1 Much bigger difference. Honestly though, I'd probably still buy the Mortlach even with the price disparity. The Lasanta just doesn't hit my nose and palate with as many flavors and mouthfeel.
@@WhiskeyLore Thanks - I did buy 3 bottles of the Lasanta while on offer here, and gradually working my way through that. I find it an easy drink, and as the price is reasonable, I dont mind drinking it regularly. However your description of the Mortlach is intriguing - so I will grab a bottle soon. Thanks again.
@@sgoody1 let me know what you think, when you do. Enjoy the Lasanta. Cheers!
