I’m using a ‘yes c groove putter’ that came with a Adam’s set I bought and sold awhile ago now. Love it and I have no desire of letting it go. Great video, thanks Alex.
Alex, I'm a golf coach in the U.S. It's interesting that golfers will spend hundreds on a driver and pay little attention to the most important club in the bag. I have been following you for a week now and you do a great job. I wish you the best.
I used to have a Napa style odyssey as love the look but earlier this year decided to design my own face balanced putter after seeing the cobra 3D printed designs. Super high MOI, my golf buddies call it the 'rails' as its hard to take it off line! I'm now in the 28-33 putts per round and handicap is as low as its ever been.
Alex I used a Ping putter for over 20 years and it worked quite well for me. One day about 5 years ago well at the mall shopping with the wife. I got bored and wandered into the golf shop. They have a huge display of putters and a very nice putting area. After a few minutes I found a See-More mallet putter. Having never seen one before I had to try it.The first putt went in and the next 6 from different lengths and directions also went in…the Ping putter lives on a basement shelf now.
Another excellent video....just bought a new odyssey mallet putter... I’m really making some longer putts that I’ve in the past missed Thanks again for the drill..👍😎🙏🏻🏌️♂️⛳️
I like to line up two golf balls side by side and try to putt both at the same time, I find it a good way to test how easily the face squares at impact. I’m currently using a taylormade spider gt notchback
I had been using a mallet, face balanced putter for some time. I felt as though I was fighting the putter. I went and got fitted for a putter and found out that a 45 degree toe hang putter is the best for my stroke. Went from a 2.5 per green to 1.7 per green.
I putt well no matter what putter I use. A cheap putt putt (mini golf) putter works just as well. Just as long as I hit the equator with the middle of the head it works. Of course one has to get used to the reaction of the particular putter for distance control. Shoulder movement in the desired direction is very important.
I've always used a blade putter. Currently have an odyssey but have recently fell out of love with it. Have always fancied trying a mallet style putter to see if it improves my striking. Could we as subscribers ask for a video on your views on how to grip a putter. Think that could also help people including myself on your thoughts about it👏👏
Hi Alex, another useful tip to start the day. Thank you. Especially after a weekend that my putter and I weren’t one speaking terms after my round and I practiced in the lounge room with a very old blade putter against my new mallet one. Perfect timing. 👍😎🇦🇺
Can only use face balanced. Toe hang to me feels like it’s “twisting”. Alex, do you prefer to vertically “rock” your shoulders or do you prefer to add a tiny amount of “rotation”?
Hate to admit that I've been fit for irons twice and driver 5 times. Never been fit for wedges and putter. Correcting that on Jan. 3rd. This is definitely backwards from the way I should do it
I have been using a blade putter for a number of years, currently an old Odyssey, the one Ernie played the last time he won the Open. It is not the best balanced putter, for sure. With a thicker grip like the one use, it forces me to be more conscious of how to hit the ball properly. Not much a 'game improver' but certainly helpful to avoid what I would call 'putting laziness'. ☺️
Great video but what’s the out come ? If you do hit more towards left tee peg a pressume you need a more face balanced putter ? And more towards right tee peg means you need more of a toe hang putter ?
This is a great video I used a blade for as long as I've played and putted awesome best part of my game. Switched to the year before talormade spider just to try played my best season ever lag putts where so good and felt I couldn't miss in side 3ft .
I'm still using my PING Pal2i Isopur putter. it must be 25+years old and I love it! Thanks for all the great videos this year Alex and merry xmas to you and your family.
Excellent video Alex on putter selection! Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn't one use a balanced putter if their stroke is more of a "straight back and straight through" type, as opposed to a "in to out to in" stroke which is better for a blade putter. I am the former type and putt better with a balanced putter.
@@AlexElliottGolf roll the putter or the ball My putter is a “ Rife Barbados “with center shaft and super stroke grip . With the groves on the face a little rock of the shoulders straight back and straight forward the ball rolls true.
I had a Taylormade tp hydro blast del monte face balanced putter, but was not happy with it, then got fitted for a Odyssey White Hot OG 1WS with 30 toe hang and hole a lot more putts, no more 3 putts for me 🏌️♂️👌
@@AlexElliottGolf yes, I changed my putter every few months and none of them felt like the right one and cost a lot of money haha. So I was sick of it and decided to get fit for it. My handicap dropt a lot since then. So it was the right decision.
Hope Santa is going to bring you a new Sharpie Alex. I've just ordered a nice new putter. I've been using a Spider X for the last year. It's good and I hit more putts good than bad. But I don't enjoy it. Feels unatural and makes me feel tight in my stroke. So I've ordered a Ping Kushin 4 with a nice grip and plenty of flow. It's shorter than my other putters and more upright. Feels natural and unforced. Is it going to be the magic wand!? Who knows but I'll probably enjoy using it more.
hmmm i would say because you PW is more likely to be used on a full shot stick with one from the set - but make sure that your gapping between each wedge is even (degrees of deference between each wedge) I hope this helps
As 10% of the population are left handed, you'd think golf club sellers would have 10% of their stock in left hand. Wrong! Nobody seems to have any, let alone a choice. They will order you one, but expect you to buy it, not try it. I have a Ping Sigma Fetch which was the only choice at the time. Fortunately, it works well for me, but it could just as easily have been an expensive mistake.
@@AlexElliottGolf Our pro has zero stock of left handed clubs, but does have left handed demo ones, so at least you have something to try, and be fitted to. This does not apply to putters, so it's a case of getting what's available .No chance of a fitting. The bonus of the Ping one is that the shaft length is adjustable which is better than nothing.
These videos about ‘the right equipment’ really annoy me. There is no such thing as ‘the right putter’. If you learn a consistent, repeatable stroke / swing it will make no difference what club is in your hands. I’ll shoot under par with my mum’s graphite clubs. All I need to work out is the carry distance for each club and I’m away.
Putter is the most important club in the bag! But do you check if your using the correct putter! What putter are you using right now?!

What shaft bend is easiest to use?
I do just as poorly with blade as I do with mallet and I like the way blades look, so I have a blade.
