When this came out I bought the cd. Had the DVD with it inside. I found this last week and played the DVD an soon as Joey's part came on I started to cry. Faacckk do I miss him. Musical genius in my eyes. Could do it all. I say this because I then put the cd on. Instant goosebumps hearing Howard scream. Howard wasn't on Joey's team but hearing this track I really wish he was. Rob's team fucking killed it don't get me wrong , this is my favorite track on it. I'm only feeling selfish and wonder what having Joey thrown into this what have sounded like and created 🤔 Either way thank you Roadrunner for many many albums to help me push through my hardest years in life so far. Hope everyone has a kick ass day 🤘

I wore out the dvd of the making of the album. I still have it and will pop it in every so often. I was introduced to so many amazing musicians and bands through the dvd and cd combo.

my favorite and best solo
I bought this one when it was brand new! I really enjoyed the “making of” video that had Jeff Waters playing his solo in the studio.
The friend who introduced me to a lot of metal back in the day (I already listened to SOAD and a few other bands at the time but didn't know much about the metal scene) bought it when it came out and it was awesome.
We watched the DVD but couldn't understand what's being said. The visuals still said a lot, but we were also missing a lot of context.
What we didn't miss is how Waters was focused on tracking his solo in one take instead of chopping it up. That was great to watch.
Also, when Joey first climbed on his kit introduced me to what blast beats were. Can't forget that.
It's funny to think back at it now that I can watch the making of and understand what's being said. It of course made my enjoyment of it way better to finally get the context when I watched it for the first time with the ability to understand a couple of years ago.
And still today, most of the album is comprised of bangers.
Some of them I didn't like at the time, but my tastes evolved and now I like most of the album. And what was the writer's intent on the songs I didn't like.
Wow, I didn't expect to have this much to say revisiting the album.

Man... 18 years ago, that's crazy. I remember watching this on Scuzz, seeing Jeff rip that solo and I was blown away. What a great time in metal history!

I bought the Deluxe version of this album when it first came out back in the early/mid 2000's. There was a DVD that came with it that showed the making of all of the songs and the insane mix of artists on each track. I still have it somewhere. Every time I come across it, I always throw the DVD in immediately and sit through the entire thing before continuing what I was doing. This album and the mix of artists for the songs was so well done, the only other album that came close was the live action "Spawn" album where the idea was similar with mixed bands/artists.

You can literally tell who is on each individual song because they were all some of the best talent at Roadrunner at the time

It was a compilation made in 2005 of various artist from roadrunner doing a one epic original album, there is a documentary check it out!
It was four Roadrunner label team captains who wrote the music and they each recruited their own members from Roadrunner bands…the lead singer of each song writing the lyrics. The captains were Robert Flynn (Machine Head), Joey Jordinson, Dino from Fear Factory, and Matt H. from Trivium.
