MY DAD DOUGLAS TAKAWIRA BADZE the ever smiling, peaceful and super loving man, continue to rest in eternal peace Unendoro Nyamasvisva not a day goes by without thinking about you!!!!!!! Moyo wangu💔💔💔♥️♥️♥️♥️
Saw the "Corruption" concert at a pungwe outside of Harare in 1989. Great time with beer, smoke, chibuku and maize. APart from his manager, my gf, me, a German friend were the only mzungus there-0-it went from 2pm till 4 am the next day. Don't know if Jonah played. Later saw Robson Banda and the Black eagles at the Queens Hotel. RIP Robson and Jonah and any other lost musicians. I miss Zimbabwe. Banda's big hit "Soweto" had just come out and all the taxis in Zims were playing it. Bought this LP at Stern's In London on our way home from Africa to Canada.
I just love the mbira sounds in all his songs, with the lovely fusion of his lyrics, what comes out is the best works of a "music mhondoro"! Big up Mukanya
My dad loved Mukanya I can see him dancing to it and he made me love his music. I remember we would be driving and he's tapping the stirring and shaking his head haaaa sinyoro you left a void and empty place that can't be filled or replaced. Rest in peace Baba vangu I miss you I come here and play your songs and dance like you used to. Sleep easy my gentle giant I love you always daddy
That was so us😢... as young as i was around 2002 we could play Mukanya's songs on our way to the rural areas and to Highlanders matches in Byo, still have memories
I remember my late Grandpa, 'Gwaku" he was a huge Mapfumo fan and this one was one of his favorites. I was less than 5 when he used to play these tunes in the late 80s and they are still in grained... 2024
I was so lucky to know a guy who worked as Thomas Mapfumo's road manager and tour manager, early on. He told me that one night Thomas came down the center aisle of the tour bus, doing a spot on Otis Redding. To everybody on the tour bus. 😊
At long last, I get to hear the original. I first heard this song in my ‘Music of the World’ class at the university. The professor played the live version for us, and I immediately saved it. Now after all these years I get to hear the original. Thank you to the poster!!!
They call him Sithole, Jonah Sithole...The hypnotic chords are from mbira. You have to play it on repeat to get out of the hypnosis😄😄 CERTIFIED BANGER‼
@Trackmasta3 Thanks, but I thought Mr. Jonah Sithole was a lead guitarist, not a bassist. In any case, Jonah was so creative and heavily gifted in imitating the mbira using a guitar. But I really want to know who was on bass here.
Never in my life have I ever played any of Dr TM’s music, but nhasi ndafunga mbuya na sekuru vakandirera moyo wangu ukarwadza & I thought of this song which my grandpa loved dearly. RIP my beloved ones. Till we meet again 🙏🏾
I REMEMBER LISTEANG & WATCHING PAST 5 IN THE MORNING THE VIDEO IN PRIMARY SCHOOL GETTING READY TO GO TO SCHOOL SOMEHOW RELATED TO HIS CRIES & CONCERNS THOU I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE ECONOMY SMH

Why isn't anybody talking about this hypnotic and soul soothing bass line? Or am I crazy? Who's on the string bass here?
