Amen my friend. He is a good one and I truly couldn't have done it without him. He is always willing to take time out to help me, and I try to help him out too when he needs it.
Absolutely correct on having the good friends. Planter looks like a winner. Don't blame you on the step. Makes things much easier and safer. Hope it works well for you.
Looks like thats going to be a good planter for you Charlie, I'm glad he is going to put a step on it for you cause I guy could really strip his ignorance trying to get to those inside boxes ! Good old Ben saves the day ! Bandit
Ben sure did save the day! He does a lot of mechanical stuff for me - works on my dumptruck, etc. And I try to help him when I can. He works on a lot of trucks, cranes, giant hydraulic cylinders, etc., and sometimes I run out and pick those things up for him or deliver them back to his customers. I try to be there when he needs me, too. It allows him to get more work done.
@@pagrainfarmer Its good to have friends that will give you a hand when you need it or have equipment to use when the need arises . Craig and my cousin and even Jacob have helped me out when I needed it cause sometimes you just cant do something by yourself no matter how hard you try ! A couple weeks ago I picked up a bunch of plastic quick connects hose ends for my cousin. We had a farm store sold out to a new one and they basically sold the old stock out cheep while bringing in there stock and the stuff was marked down like 40% so it was worth getting. I got a new under the bed tool box for my truck for $200, I've bit up to $250 for a used one at sales before and could never buy one so now I got a brand new one cheaper ! LOL I cant do a lot of physical work like I used to but I can help in other ways all I can if someone calls needing help I'll do my best. Bandit
Yes, it does sound good. Ben has a lot of Olivers and keeps them up pretty well. IN addition to him being a good mechanic himself, his dad is the best Oliver mechanic around.
Man yeah Mr Charlie, that was an epic road trip!! Ben sure knows a lot about what's going on!! That was pretty slick on the reposition of the bed and planter parts!! Looks like all went smooth!! Looking fwd to seeing that unit in the field soon!! I may try my hand at some double crop beans this season splitting the rose with my 543 like you did!! Now you you won't have to anymore!! Thank you sir for bringing us along, can't wait to see what's next!! Hopefully it will dry up for y'all!! 😁😁👍👍🌱🌱🌽🌽🇺🇸🇺🇸
Splitting the rows definitely works. It's just that it doubles the time and wear and tear on the planter. So whatever number of acres of beans you're planting, you actually double it to get it done. I'm glad I won't have to do that anymore. Yeah, Ben has a lot of experience hauling stuff and it sure paid off on this trip. Thanks for the kind words, Nelson, and I, too, look forward to seeing you plant your beans this year,
That’s a really good idea. Have a step in a bar hold onto for those front boxes. I can see how would be easy to slip. It looks awesome. Can’t wait to see you out in the field with it.
Ben usually has lots of good ideas like that. I, too, am looking forward to seeing it perform in the field, and the amount of time it should save me. Thanks for stopping by.
A crane makes it too easy. Pretty nice planter. It went together pretty easy too. I have some weights on my planter tongue too but it still is back heavy so I fill some of the gap between the drawbar and planter hitch with some big washers.
You’ll see in an upcoming video that Ben mounted an old semi truck brake drum on the tongue for me which is heavy itself but I can also add rocks or gravel to it.
Charlie, it's nice to have some good friends to help you out when you could use it. And having the right stuff sure makes it easy. Do you think you'll have to do anything prior to hopefully using it for planting this season Thanks Michael
I will have to go over it. At first glance, it looks pretty good. I'll have to grease it and oil chains for sure and check the settings. Also, I need to tighten some things on a couple of the row units and check to make sure the fan and fan pump work. Realistically, I think I could go to the field with it the way it is, though.
Yes, Ben is the son of my Oliver mechanic, Joe, who I always mention. They're always doing stuff like that. They do a lot of modifications, engine swaps, etc. About 7 years ago during plowing season, I had trouble with my 1650 and Ben brought that 1655 down for me to use. What a beast it was! They both have a lot of Olivers. Ben just took possession of an 880 with a nonadjustable front end - looks like a wheatland. Very rare. I was there when he took it off the truck and it runs great and the Power Booster ever works!
Can't keep farmers happy nohow. Last year they complained it was too dry, this year it's too wet. 😂😂😂 But don't worry the powers that be don't manipulate or control the weather..... Just ask Saudi Arabia. 🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣
Ben's Crane made it super easy. Good to have friends like Ben.

Yes, the planter does look good. I'll go over some things and can't wait to try it out. The step should be a big help.
And that crane made it wicked easy
It sure did. Something that could have been more challenging was sure easy with the right equipment. Thank God for good friends.

That crane is really slick. Good to know people 😊. That’s quite a planter. Looks in great shape.
Yep - I used the planter today to plant all my soybeans and it worked great! I'm very pleased with it.
Healthy sounding Oliver 😊

That is a very nice planter Charlie, it looks in real great shape, Thanks for a great video my friend
Thanks Jan. God willing, it will work well.
Looks like a nice planter.
Thank you. It looked good to me.

Always good to have neighbors like Ben. The planter looks nice, hope it works well for you.
Yes, Ben's a good friend and always helps me. I help him out as well when I can.
That was epic! Nice haul and reassembly - best of luck with the planter…👍
Sure was a memorable experience. Good to have the planter home and put together.
Very nice
Thanks David. Appreciate you stopping by.
Nice planter cousin Charlie! I enjoyed watching the video! Ben and nick good people!👍🏻🇺🇸🙏
Thanks Cousin Scott. Ben and Nick ARE good people. And Ben was taking time away from his work to do this for me.
👍👍
Thanks for watching and commenting, Thomas!

Planters are kind of awkward to haul. Glad you guys got it moved ok. looks like a nice unit.
Yeah, it was a little challenging, but we got it. It does seem to be in nice shape. Anxious to try it.
That was really cool and so nice that those guys let you video them!
Yeah, they were excited to be videoed.

A dual exhaust 1655? That makes 2 I have seen. Is it something they modified themselves?

Yeah April isn’t being real friendly so far
No, it's sure not, but we're supposed to get 5 days without rain, starting tomorrow (Saturday). Shocking! 😳😳😳😳😳
