    Excellent update, y’all. I cannot tell you how much I wanted that hose to go where it needed to go and not leak. Hooray at that result! In the near future, I’m praying that you will have been able to cut up the oak(s) and will have filled up all your wood storage spots with great success! I especially appreciate your message at the end of each episode, where are you speak directly to each of us about your approach to dealing with life, always with great encouragement in your bearing and your voice. Thank you. Happy that Shell’s negative!

    So good to see that things are going rather well for you two . Watch Well Deck Diaries ; "narrowboat washing machine woes solved with a Power Oak power station" . You might want to think about investing in one of those . STAY SAFE

    HNY guys. Re the crops getting eaten, you can use netting to protect them. A bit of HEP2 water pipe makes a great frame, easy to use too and lasts forever! The netting can be used year in, year out too. Congrats on the washing machine too.

    We just changed our washer unfortunately I fitted the original washer as the very first thing in my boat 16YRS AGO then built cupboards and walls around it making it very difficult to remove(I took it apart and took the bits out one at a time) the new one I got in by only having to remove the door and lid.we went for a Hoover machine the same as your one (candy and Hoover are one company)only the Hoover version is lower wattage

    Hello you two, good news about the washing machine. When hubby and i first got together we lived in an ancient mobile home, no hot water, now 47 yrs later I still love hot water coming from a tap. Chuffed your feeling more on top of things, a UA-camr I follow gets his subscribers to #AnswerAsAPercent this encourages followers who post a low % to have a chat about what is wrong. Take care abd appreciate your kind thoughts. xx

      That’s a lovely idea Christine. With regard to hot water, I do think you never really appreciate ‘mod cons’ until you have to live without them, and then you always have an appreciation. Xxx

    Great job! One quick question with connecting your washing machine up - is it a single input for water and if so have you connected to the hot or cold? Does the machine heat at all or have you disabled it? thanks!!!

    • @ChrisandShell
      @ChrisandShell  2 роки тому +1

      Hey, yes only a single input, and it’s cold. And yes it heats. Unless we are on long trips, we are only using the washing machine when we have the engine running and the 14 minute cycle. You’re welcome ☺️

    Hi. Thank you for the video. I'm in the process of replacing the washing machine on the boat i just bought and want to install its own dedicated skin fitting. The previous owner had it connected to sink which made the sink fill up when the washing machine drained. Not good, hence why I want to install a new skin fitting. Can i ask what diameter skin fitting you installed, and also the height of the skin fitting in relation to the washing machine? Thank you. Mike

    • @ChrisandShell
      @ChrisandShell  10 місяців тому

      Hey Michael,
      Unfortunately not much help with this query unfortunately, as we were lucky and the skin fitting was already in situ. On our install it could have done with probably being 4” higher and the width of the washer to the left. The best advice I can give is configure it to the washer you are going to use. And then the skin fitting should be of a size to securely attach your outflow. Does that make sense? Good luck with it. It’s a game changer for sure x

      @ChrisandShell Hey, thank you for the reply. Much appreciated. Planning on replacing the washing machine left by the previous owner. Its old and plumbed in incorrectly. Tried it and it sounded like a bag of spanners. There is a skin fitting behind it, but wanting to fit one which is easily accessible so I can keep an eye on it. Looking forward to getting the new machine so much. Skin fitting picked up this afternoon so now to to get the old machine out 🤔 Should be fun.

    hi just watched this vid , we want fit a washing machine on our narrowboat , how are you powering it , and what make and model is it cheers

      Hello 👋
      Our washer is a Candy Smart touch 9kg. We have a generator on the engine that runs in conjunction with the alternator, so we only use the washer when the engines running, moving or not. We also only use it when we are at a water point of heading toward one as our water tank isn’t the largest.
      We picked this one primarily because it fit through the stern doors, but also because it has quick washes, the shortest being 15 minutes which is great for sports stuff, light wear items. We have run it off our Jenny on our mooring, and so far it’s been ace.
      Hope this helps?
      Xxx

    Hey Chris, our boat is moored in a Marina (we don’t live aboard unfortunately) but would love a farm mooring. Cost wise for you is the farm more expensive? I read that with a farm mooring you have 2 rents to pay, one to the farmer & one also to the CRT? I’m not talking about your licence for the boat to be in the water but for mooring at a private farm.

    • @ChrisandShell
      @ChrisandShell  2 роки тому +1

      Hey, yes you’re right a payment to the farmer for the land and then a payment to CRT for the canal, but we are still over £1000 a year better off than we were in the Marina. The only drawback is there is no shoreline power, but this has soon been forgotten as you adjust to life off grid. Although there are farm moorings with power….. we will do a Costa vlog at some point… 👌😊🏴‍☠️
