Medical termination of Pregnancy (MTP) is when pregnancy is aborted with the help of medicines.
Q1. When should we take MTP pills- 1:00 min to 1:50 min- In unwanted pregnancies, MTP pills should be taken only upto 7 weeks of pregnancy i.e. upto 49 days and not beyond that.
Q2. How to take MTP pills- 1:52 min to 4:10 min- MTP pills come in a pack of 5 pills, first one is to be taken orally with water and after a gap of 48 hours, rest 4 pills have to be taken sublingually.
Q3. How does MTP pill work- 4:15 min to 5:45 min- Mifepristone is progesterone antagonist and ends the growth of pregnancy. Misoprostol causes uterine motility and contractions, this causes expulsion of pregnancy.
Bleeding after MTP pills- 5:59 min to 7:15 min
Q4. Side effects of Misoprostol- 7:20 min to 8:20 min- Fever, Vomiting, heavy bleeding, severe pain are a few side effects of misoprostol.
Q5. Precautions to be taken before MTP pills- 8:25 min to -12:50 min Anaemia, allergy, bleeding disorders, chronic liver disease, kidney disease and any other medical illness. Breast feeding mothers should be careful with its use. Always take them after confirmation of pregnancy on ultrasound.
Q6. Side effects of MTP pills- 13:00 min to 13:30 min - Fever, heavy bleeding, pain and diarrhoea that persists after 24 hours of tablet needs medical treatment.
Q7. When is the second visit or follow up visit after MTP- 13:40 min to 14:15 min- This should be planned after 14 days of abortion pills or earlier if emergency signs develop.
Q8. What are the Emergency signs after MTP pills-14:30 min to - heavy bleeding and pain, high grade fever, foul smelling discharge.
Q9. What are the complications of MTP pills- 15:50 min to 16:15 min- Incomplete abortion, septic abortion, anaemia, ruptured ectopic are a few of the many complications of MTP pills
Q10. What is the effect of MTP pill on future pregnancy- 16:20 min to 17:05 min- Single use of MTP pills has no effect on future pregnancies.
How many times can you take MTP pills- 17:10 min to 17:25 min- It is preferred that the use of MTP pills should be limited and these should not be used in place of routine contraceptives.
Q11. When should we do pregnancy test after taking MTP pills-17:30 min to 18:30 min- urine pregnancy test can be positive even after 1 month of MTP pills, so this should not be used for confirmation of abortion.

Hello mam.. I was listening to you and the video was quite informative.I have just taken the first pill on doctor's prescription.. It is my 7th week 2nd day today and I have taken the pill.
