Woops! Yeah I'll have to get that out soon. Although the video I'm about to upload isn't the Summoned Skull deck, which might be disappointing... But it's not too far away! Thanks for stopping by :)
At least we'll have lots of experience vs the matchup! I'm excited for Master Duel because that'll make taking part in official events that much more accessible
Curse Necrofear is a great counter to them since this deck seems to be about banishing the opponent. The more they banish your fiends, the more she can recycle and destroy their back row.
Yeah that's true. The problem is drawing into her though. I currently don't run Dark Spirit's Mastery so it can be difficult to recycle fiends that way. I love her multi pop effect though as it can catch people off guard!
I really like the look of this deck. I'm a returning player from back when Synchro first started. I never got to play archfiends even though I wanted to because I was poor and couldn't afford the archfiends back then other than having the soldier. I was looking at your August 2021 deck set up and was wanting to try it on a simulator. I also want to try the mystic mine variant as I like the stalling feature and the fact everyone hates mine. I know the game has changed drastically such as skills in timing the interruptions with handtraps and the fact that first turn now only draws 5 cards. Is there anything you think I should learn first before getting started? Is Archfiends too advanced for a returning newbie?
Welcome back to the game! I'd say Archfiends aren't very advanced at all. They're fairly straightforward in their setup. There's only a few things to consider later on in the game too. The deck dies fairly easily to hand traps, and this is a consequence of the deck not having enough extenders... So hopefully Konami fixes that in the future The deck focuses on bringing out one or two strong monsters. Due to this, Mystic Mine is an incredible asset. It's a high impact card that forces your opponent to out, so it's good both as a floodgate, and as a negate bait. Other floodgates such as Skill Drain and TCBOO are also strong with Archfiends. Hand traps are great but I prefer to focus on high impact cards since Archfiends can't reliably break boards unless you get a Curse Necrofear pop, or summon Berserk Dragon. So I like running kaiju type monsters like Sphere Mode and Lava Golem, but also some high impact hand traps like Chaos Hunter and Nibiru. Super Poly is also great but format dependant. I'd say just take some time improving your deck building skills and probably choose one of the stronger decks to begin with. You'll have more fun running a modern deck than an older one right now. Maybe don't choose a deck that has a crazy number of combos. Lyrilusc Tri-Brigade is probably one to avoid. Swordsoul is pretty decent, especially because it's synchro focused so could be what you're used to. Sky Strikers is a lot of fun and is stronger now that Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer is available. It'll also teach you how to link summon. You could also try running an Invoked deck Hope all this helps!
Yeah that would be amazing! I also wish that Armory Call would let you target any monster rather than just your own. That way we could activate Falling Down from the deck and steal stuff
Ban list just dropped and we got 3x Skill Drains! Woot Woot! Now does anybody know if you can mill with Masterkings effect when you pay for Skill Drains cost? I assume no but I might as well ask.
So glad you added Berserk Dragon to the build, I have been messing around with dark spirits and berserk dragon ever since I commented last on your video. Berserk Dragon is one of my all time favorites cards. How is it working out in the deck? It's a real clutch card and the fact that you can activate Deal with Dark Ruler during your battle phase if any of your lvl 8 dies, it's fantastic.
Berserk Dragon is such a cool card! It's terrible outside of Archfiends but a breath of fresh air otherwise. I love activating Deal with Dark Ruler in the Battle Phase and just board wiping people. The only time when it's not fun is when you hard draw Berserk Dragon turn 1, or worse, Berserk AND Deal turn 1. If you want an extra boss monster, definitely use him. Just linking an Emperor off or making Emperor pop himself is very easy to do, and searching out Deal is simple enough. It is an extra line of play that can be unexpected and result in OTKs
It's a great card for Archfiends! I've had lots of success with it. After a few tournaments and playtesting I've found it to be a useful card way more than the small chance of drawing it as a brick
@@TheArchfiendGuy u can search on UA-cam but from what i underdstood they used one of the doriado that burns by tributing darks they Also use quillbolt to make a New fiend xyz And what happens is that It doesnt matter If the xyz returns to extra or is special by masterking, bc u can make agsin with quillbolt And tribute with doriado, prob not good, but i think its kinda cool that the link is not once per turn, maybe in the Future people Will make other Crazy combos with it
Hi ! Glad to see a new archfiend video but i dislike mystic mine with this archetype, mystic becomes your only way to win and you loose most of interactions and if opponent banish/destroy mine you loose :c I prefer Archfiend with enforcer combo, you play more archfiend like cavalry, trance or heiress, you play pandemonium to add all your deck and you can combo & control, its perfect !! With destiny fusion you can too summon dangerous and send as material heiress from deck, who will activate its effect ! And enforcer material like Celestial are veeeeery useful !! Celestial draw 2, Denier put celestial from banish to top deck, and dasher ss a monster if u need. We can play a powerfull card too : Droplet !! We like send from hand to grave, and if we have Heiress its better !!
That's completely fair, I know lots of people hate Mine with a passion. To be fair in these games it was only really live for a single turn. It helped just buy me a turn to stay in the game. DPE is indeed a great card for Archfiends, especially with Cavalry because it wont miss timing. I'm hit and miss with Dangerous though, I feel like its very underwhelming. I'd love for a consistent Malicious Bane engine though, that would be more impactful I feel. Droplet is great but way too expensive!
I actually really like Super Poly in DARK decks as a DPE out. I used to play a Super Poly build of Archfiends some time ago, as an answer to Dragoon, and using opponent's DPEs to go into Dracostapelia is always priceless
@@parasitedocteurdelapeste6998 Ah I thought so! It didn't even give me the option to approve it, just straight up deleted it. I don't have a discord server or anything but I'm in the Archfiend discord if you want to just join that and post it here: discord.gg/9kHf5khX
@@Mekmassimochannel Super Poly is always amazing! It fell out of favour with me recently because of Drytron being full of light monsters, but I might side it again. Only problem is that it takes up a lot of room with the ED, but I suppose that's fine if you're outing cards like Dragoon and DPE!
@@TheArchfiendGuy I did consider making a lv 4 beatdown deck with Terrorking, but the would require me getting 3 Forbidden Droplets. The droplets would work better with Berzerk anyway. I might invest in mystic mine, but I afraid it'll get hit.
I'm not buying Mine until the next banlist. It's only a month away so I can hold on. I highly doubt it'll get hit though. It doesn't see any competitive play
Thank you! I've had a lot of fun engaging with the community over this past year. I feel like Archfiends have come along leaps and bounds since this channel started Now we just need Konami to give us a bunch of cool Summoned Skull support!
They absolutely acknowledge he and the Archfiends exist, but they fear their power will be too great ;) The flavour text of the Archfiend secret pack on Master Duel was cool though. It says: "The power to bring forth high-level Fiends converges in the "Archfiends." but to harness the power of darkness, one must pay the ultimate price of Life I wish this was a teaser to something greater XD
@@TheArchfiendGuy yeah, Like some New Versions of the old chessfiends. But i don't think they will do it after they released those puppet chess support (which sucked besides Promotion).
What do you think the most popular deck of the format is?
Maybe swordsoul (with or without Tenyi), but yeah Lyrilisc is up there.
Yeah I'd say Swordsoul is also very popular and I'd argue more powerful. But that's mainly because banishing is my decks biggest weakness!
You and Dr. Faker with his Psychic builds keep my nostalgia strong.
Just tribri lyri, and its the best deck with swordsoul, because swordsoul has protos x)
Honestly I haven't heard of Dr Faker before but I'll have to do some googling! Glad you're having fun riding the nostalgia train
Great to see you back! Road to 1K subs is back on track.
Thanks! This duel was one of the more fun ones I've done lately, even if they focused on making an unbreakable board
