Is it then possible to stick on a non-gripwalk bottom bit? Thanks in advance...

Thanks for posting this informative clip. I have the first production run ultra XTDs that have glued on. I didn't think about it because I assumed it was the same as the downhill 130 Hawx with removable grip walk pads. I started thinking about it afterwards. Atomic provided no info on where in the USA one could get this done. If you want to, plan on a lot of work. I was really pissed off at Atomic, I mean at least they could inform their retailers or provide lists of regional shops. Then again, Atomic wants you to throw them away and buy a new pair from Atomic - which I won't do.

What comes to how the rubber wear affects to attaching to the bindings: it really does not. The black square areas in the soles are what you stand on when stepped into a binding. And the top surfaces of the heel and toe of the boot are what interfaces with the upper side of the bindings, so, as such the rubber wear wont affect the binidng interface.

Yeah OK, ask him why they did away with screwed soles? Planned obsolescence? Your boots in the video look almost new and could serve a person for years. But the soles are already tattering. Probably a good portion of people will throw away the boots when the soles wear out, not realizing or finding a cobbler to fix it. At least if the sole still had screws, some people would replace it themselves. Thanks

I have the same damage to the rear of my previous generation Ultra XTDs (from a couple of years ago), which I've tried resticking with a variety of glues, only to find the same thing happens again. And complete new soles don't look to be listed on Atomic's website. And even if new soles are available, I'd be doubtful local cobblers would achieve the required degree of sticktivity without altering the height at the boot/binding interfaces.

My understanding is the sole if not available for retail sale only to the trade so the cobbler would need to order it. As for the height, I guess it must be achievable if this is how touring boot are also repaired. But that's an excellent point as what cobbeler would even know about the height and why it is so important.

@@SnowCampsEurope If you have a MNC binding there's some margin for error on the height of the re-sole. It can be countered by adjusting the binding. Of course, there's an upper limit to that, too.

I have not seen where to buy them? Not on the atomic or grip walk web sites?
