We settled in Boulder in 1957, about 20 years before the mall was built. Old downtown was so cool/pleasant before Crossroads Mall was opened in '61, then it was all downhill for downtown Boulder as Gibsons, Kmart and Woolco opened up out on 28th. The Mall has worked out really well, but I sure miss the old downtown of my youth, it was a very special time and place... Thanks for posting, I don't get out that way much anymore.

I lived there way back in 1980 when I would go to a club called The Blue Note and "pogo" all night to punk bands. LOL. Long time ago. I also recognize that park where old 60s hippies would come down from their mountain communes with their dogs, children and play Frizbee while Yuppies with briefcases headed to work.

Fun facts- Jello Biafra the lead singer of The Dead Kennedy’s grew up in Boulder. Wendy o Williams from The Plasmatics worked at Waffle House. Joey Diaz the Comedian lived half block away from pearl st. Sammy the Bull lived on pearl st in the witness protection program. Wavy Gravy’s son was born at a truck stop and named-Howdy Do-Good Gravy Tomahawk truckstop Romney.Trey Parker and Matt Stone the creators of South Park went to C.U. And the list goes on and on

Woah crazy I’ll be in Boulder today. Maybe I’ll see you lol. I’m from Fort Collins, about hour or so north of Boulder. It’s another college town (Colorado State University)…you should check it out if you can. I personally like the old town in foco (Walt Disney liked it so much he designed parts of Disneyland after it) more than Boulder, also has HorseTooth Reservoir (make sure to check that out), the Poudre Canyon, and tons of brewery’s (New Belgium - Fat tire beer/Odell’s to name a few) up in FoCo.
