I've played it for about 9 hours now, story mode can be played entirely seperate to the multiplayer-gatcha game type. New characters you can recruit in the tavern, in the beginning you have 2 slots you can choose from every few loops (called "weeks" ingame), but you get more once you progress. There is no energy system in story mode as far as I'm aware. The gameplay loop looks like this: you are in your hub, a small town, and can train your units, have them rest (units get tired after a few battles so you rotate them and can't always use the best ones), upgrade your buildings like armory, haven, training grounds via mats you get from quests etc. Once you've done this you can choose one of about 5 quests available on your world map. A quest is basically a battle on one of the tile-maps. Quests change with time and you have to choose carefully since some of them offer pretty great rewards (rare item blueprints for the forge, building upgrades like more training slots,...). Those quests are listed in various difficulties (enemies are higher/lower level, rewards are different). After the battle, you return to your town. Sometimes instead of quests you get to start a story mission, new characters arrive, interactions happen and alliances with different nations are made. Then a new loop begins. Upgrade, unit management, quest/story mission. At first it all seemed a bit simple, but units can train new abilities, get better gear, you learn tactical skills which can be used with every unit. The only thing I don't quite like is the range of archers and spellcasters. You have to get closer than you'd wish to go. I love the game so far and I think most previews don't do the game justice. In the demo we saw a linear tutorial which is quite different to the story mode I've played the last 9 hours. A good single player experience.
I had to edit my post, since previously I thought the characters summoned in the gatcha mode could be taken to story mode as well, but I haven't found a way to do this. So this even more cements story mode as a standalone game mode without gatcha elements. even more
Thanks so much for the update. It’s very reassuring hearing you guys address questions and concerns brought up in the discord. I’m really confident that you guys will deliver a great experience for players!
I fully agree on the VA decision there. Quality JP voices with good and accurate English text is the best. English VA would mean you guys gonna get sidetracked from the main objective, keep it up folks you're doing great ♥
This is getting better and better as time passes.. devs look invested in the game and community.. atleast it marketed properly. About the English VA.. I 100% understand the decision of not having one and thus investing elswhere makes perfektly sense and is the best decision... but I would still really like an English VA simply for the QoL... I also prefer JP VA with English text overall.. but there is so many things to ready and do and also the game being on portable devices.. not having to stare and "focus" on reading but being able to just lay down and listen to the "movie" would help making it more suited to relax and enjoy instead of being invested so to say.
I like the update and am looking forward to the release/release date announcement. I wanted to add a +1 for English voice acting! If a new playtest does happen I really want to see more of the gacha mode as we didn't get too much of that yet. I'm really, really looking forward to the new localization! Keep up the great work SoC Devs!
Respondi a um inscrito do meu canal ontem que provavelmente atrasaria, e foi mesmo o que aconteceu. Atrasou mesmo! I replied to a subscriber to my channel yesterday that it would probably be late, and that's exactly what happened. It was really late!
Really looking forward to this game, just skipped the beta to avoid spoilers but take your time to polish this game as it seems to be very good and promising. Hope to hear from you guys soon! Keep up the good work!
Congrats on such an amazing game!! Loved the demo! I am really looking forward to the global release and am not concerned at all about slight translation issues that can be patched later on. Really want to suport the devs by spending on the gacha side and then bringing my favorite characters to Elysium for some single player fun. One point of note in this video is that your answer to the first question has led many people to understand there will be a new delay, while I understood the target date remains somewhere in spring (late march to late june), correct? Congrats again!
I do hope you have a beta test, I could see trialing the demo was helpful to your development. based on seeing all the feedback and bugs from just the demo - a beta test will definitely help make a big impact in getting a good feel on where you're at.
I have not had the chance to play SoC yet, but was curious if there is going to be a friendly PvE mode to help take down bosses or stages together in a team environment. Was just wondering because that would be a great way to interact and use friend's units to help clear content together. Thank you and I hope for a successful launch in the future 🙂
i installed this game on steam like a week ago, didn't realize it was a demo and still unreleased... well i don't know where to input feedback but my biggest gripe was 3 hours into the game and im still using the same characters and it became stale afterwards, i'll check out the release to see if the experience has improved.
is this version will be completely different than the Taiwan server? in terms of pvp, reward and some of UI? note: i playing it on Taiwan server via tap-tap acc..
Damn. I was hoping that there would be an announcement of English VA. Honestly pretty difficult for me to be emotionally invested in a game when I can’t hear the characters speak in my language. Another language does not have the same impact. Hope this is a decision they decide to consider later. :/
I hope that we get a hard difficulty since games today are way too easy, also faster game speed is a must 👍🏾 Looking forward to Steam and Switch release.
Just some comments: 1) Regarding the PVP, I hope that the rewards will not be mandatory resources or if they are we can farm it somewhere else. I'm not really a fan of PVP, but I understand that there are players out there who like it. 2) Regarding the MC as a playable character, this is my suggestion. I've been playing Granblue Fantasy for a long time now, and I think you can copy what they did. Make the MC like Gran who can change classes. That way, especially for new players, they can change the class of the MC to characters that they still lack. 3) Speaking of GBF, one thing that I always look for in gacha games is the "Eternals" system. It is a gacha game still, but there are some characters that you can obtain by grinding materials. Example: GBF's Eternals, Azur Lane's Research Ships, and Alchemy Stars' Old Seal (Silent Hunters). Looking forward to the release!
I will wait even if there is a delay after the new beta. If the beta gets heavy criticism and decides to dial down and go back to development room, I think it is for the best. I do not know what you should do, except to work in your time: do everything you can for now and take care of yourselves. Do not rush or listen to people that seem to have zero knowledge about game coding or about the developers. Take care of the people working in the game and it will come out beautiful.
I agree w/ the DEVs decision.. better just focus on JP dub and just make sure to polish localization (EN/JP/CN) so that resources will be used efficiently into developing the game instead. We all know this type of game is aimed on specific group of players, so revenue is gonna be a factor. I don't mind the slow development as long as there is a timeline that will keep us updated. Also, I don't mind if a game is P2W but I do hope it's also F2P friendly where gap won't be too far apart or playtime will help close the gap.
Thanks for being upfront about the release date. Its annoying, but id rather have a polished final release than a buggy nightmare that was rushed out the door. Also: not a question, but feedback. Yes, i would really prefer having a playable MC. Its always a huge turn off when you have an MC unwilling to get their hands dirty and standing off to the side while everyone else fights for them. It also undermines the hero's journey and leaves players unsatisfied, since we want to engage in escapist fantasy where we save the day. Its pretty boring when the MC just watches everyone else do stuff just like the player does.
Just release the global already. Those demo problems in English are easy to fix, and there's some basic markup/CSS that would take no more than a few hours to update and test. It's weird to have English updates without an English user base being able to do anything/care about anything. We want to spend our money with you guys. Don't worry about things being perfect: it's already functional. I'm sure updates will fix minor issues like text. Give the people the base product already.
I'm not really a fan of PvP specially if tons of gacha currency rewards are locked behind it so I'm fine if it stays as friendly pvp only. It would be cool to see a multiplayer/co-op feature instead where you can party up with random ppl to clear stages. Also can we know the system requirements for mobile devices specifically android? I want to know if my potato phone can run the game or not 😅
Im sure all my friends feel the same abd probbly alot of ppl. We NEED as muc pvp as we can get. Else theres no point in progressing my account if i cant veat my friends haha
For anime I do prefer Japanese voices more, but for games I "usually" prefer English voices instead. So I personally think it's a shame. I think sooner you add English voices the better because this is a gacha game, because as you add more characters and story content, it'll become that much harder to add English voices. Meaning releasing it at launch is the easiest. And even if alot prefer Japanese voices, you can just add a option to switch Japanese and English so everybody wins. And more players playing the game the better, first impression is super important which can boost up more players first impression if there are more ways to enjoy playing the game, and multiple voices can be considered as more ways. I get that this is not your main focus, so y'all would be sidetracked, but you always have option to release it later instead, delay is reasonable considering adding voice acting will just become harder as the game get older. But if you wanted to release the game in just few months since the game already been delayed long enough then I guess it can't be helped. I really liked the English voices for the characters in the Sword of Convallaria trailer too, but oh well, it is what it is. Lol XD
Please release global I been waiting for 99999years i am a old man i dont have alot of time left i want to spend the life I have left playing sword of convillera please please release already😭
Would love to have at least a release date month. About the Japanese language.... I doubt that's correct. I don't know what metrics you took, but working with game devs myself, English is almost always the first language option requested. Not only among English speakers, but even among Russian and Chinese gamers.
lol stop delaying it man its already almost half a year delay no Eng VA already still wanna delay so long lmao. why so eager to keep putting new system/functions when players can't even play the game
I understand why you can't go in many directions for the VA's and sure lots of weebs (Not meant in a derogatory way) do prefer JP VA's cause English VA's were pretty bad for a long time, or at least the people directing them did a piss poor job of it. But how I play most of my games, if it's not voiced in English when there is VA's, then it means I'm not supposed to care about it. I'm pretty bummed about this detail. Also forcing players to log in every day I'm getting tired of that as well. Loved the concept of the game months ago but the more I hear about it, the less excited I become sadly. Thought I finally found my FFT successor. But I can't judge something that is still unfinished so I'll see how it is when ti comes out.
You may get disappointed, it's just another gacha game. nothing special at all. it has released for 6 months in Taiwan and for 3 months in China, the player base spit on the devs and the company. I doubt this game will survive until it's global release date😅
@@keithmo1604 It's that bad huh. I'm not averse to gacha games in general, heck I'm playing HSR and Nikke but f2p+ with the first and entirely f2p for the second. I guess if I want the FFT experience, I just have to dust off my old PS2 and FFT PS1 disc and just play the original.
Same, in my experience this forces a very simplified story, which I fear will not sit well with me. FFT is a marvel because the story has aged very well and appeals to older players as well. Still the graphics here look lovely and I have high hopes for the game.
Finally we have some progress reveal!
Consider to add a coop mode to play in stream with viewers, or just friends!
Really cool idea
