For real, I don't even think Yastremska was aware that the match ended in the 2nd set because she was so locked in... The bagel says it all
Yastremska is forever a diamond in the rough. When she's on, she is incredible to watch operate. She had a lot of point to defend down under and still put in a decent result with a third round showing. Now, she seems to be determined to climb back up the rankings.
Wow. Yastremska. Just wow. She played insanely good while Sakkari played insanely bad. In second set Yastremska completely dominated Sakkari, by losing only 8 points. She was unstoppable in this match. If she will keep this up, she could be potential top 10 player and contender for a Slam tittle. Never underestimate Yastremska.
I mean she got to the AO semis last year so she's got the talent, all she needs is consistency

It’s a deadly mission. Tauson is actually favored to beat her tomorrow but if Yastremska plays like this I don’t think Tauson stands a chance.

A healthy, focused, and determined Yastremska can produce some good tennis. A consistent Yastremska would be a problem for many players.

Good match, but I worry for Sakkari - she's had a tough run over the last year or so. Such a tough competitor, and a great personality - i hope she can turn things around soon.

Why worry? She’s past her peak. She needs to quit. She will never reach top ten again. Her mental game is trash and her actual game is mediocre. Her swing motions are so rushed and it doesn’t look like she has a natural feel for the sport. She has used fitness and practice to get as far as she can. She doesn’t have the innate talent to get further.
I worry about her because I like her. She is committed, always gives 100%, and more importantly for me;she is a nice, genuine person. She certainly doesn't need to quit. I take your point that to get back into the top ten is more challenging than ever before, particularly as the women's game has now got much more strength in depth than even a few years ago.

Does Sakkari have a protected ranking? I never saw a player maintain a good ranking and always lose.
Sakkari did not understand yet, that she must not make returns in the center and instead she must hit on corners. Also she did not understand that she must learn to use all her cleverness, instead of just returning in power without much thinking.
You're right, you can't win by just returning the ball in the center court.

They couldn't lose both...what a pity! The first for being ucranian, the second for being Sakkari.
Can someone tell me how sakkari can always stay as high seeds even though she's often out so early and never really wins any tournaments..at least in the recent years..her shots have no angles and always hit right back to opponents and make it easy for them to finish her.
Well done by Yastremska, but Sakkara hit everything up the middle.

After watching just a few games into it I knew Sakkari would lose..she played to deep in the court while opponent was on the baseline..a losing strategy for sure

Yastremska, as hard as she hits the ball, has always been very subpar on serve. That's why she doesn't win nearly as much as she should. Sakkari . . . just a lot of shortcomings in her game though people on TV are too nice to criticize. Never a great returner of serve, doesn't play much defense, little variety, likes to be set on her shots so if you get her moving it's very problematic, can randomly be very erratic with groundstrokes. People gave her way too much attention because she has a pretty good serve and has some decent pop on the forehand. Just not a well rounded player overall
