Dude, I was blasting this whole album as well as White Pony in my truck while off roading through the desert last weekend. Needles and Pins, Battle Axe, and Moana hit different out there though. Clear skies, drinking Phantom Bride IPA, and driving on empty dirt roads in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night. Pure bliss.

Its why tones is one of tha few alt/metal bands dat appeals to nonwhites as much as if not moreso than whites- few other metal bands emphasize rhythm as heavily. With its focus on percussive force n flow n minimalist harmonies, structurally, they best work is far more similar in nature & character to 90s boom bap hip hop than tha mallcore nu metal of tha early/mid 00s; its no surprise they eventually began integrating trip hop into they style. Een at they most aggressive & noisy, they music retains a solid underlying sensuality n sexiness which is deadass utterly alien to mos alt metal

Regardless of you have to say about this album, even the band, I still love this album. It grew on me immensely since I first heard it. It's in my top 3 Deftones albums.
Hands down my favorite track from Deftones. The first listen through blew me away. The second listen through was behind my drum kit learning every note. This was the moment Abe Cunningham became my favorite drummer of all time.
This and bloody capes always a get me playing air drums. Just like the whole band never blow you away with super technical but they always play what helps the song. Always loved his drumming.

Senior year. My Jeep was leaking water in a rain storm. I was completely soaked. I cranked this song as loud as the stereo went. As uncomfortable as I was, this song was so dope. I’ll never forget that.

I'm finally doing research on Google and I'm seeing "pins and needles" as a main symptom in many of these nerve disorders while deftones white pony is playing on my TV. Then I hop on UA-cam via smartphone and this video is uploaded 6 minutes ago. Insane synchronization.
I obsessed over that song and tuned my garbage Squier Strat to drop F# to learn the nuance of that sucker when I was a kid. Then proceeded to rip off those chords and riff style for the next 15 years.
