    I got a quest 2 for Christmas and supernatural is my new favorite way to work out. It’s so difficult for me to do HIIT, this has broken through my barriers. I’m still out of shape from COVID to the point where I have to pause between each song to rest. But I’m determined to get back into shape with this app. I love the coaches, they’re so nice and motivational. I need the “thirty seconds left” and “I’m proud of you” to thrive - my only issue is I have neck problems so the VR headset is really putting strain on my neck 😭

    • @housesing
      @housesing 10 місяців тому

      Hello. I’m not sure if to get quest 2 or 3. Is it any different on quest 2 than it is quest 3? Just learning about all this as I need to exercise as I came out of an illness but doing better.

    • @VeronicaMist
      @VeronicaMist 9 місяців тому

      I also have neck problems but love supernatural! So I hot glued a couple of weights (large carabiners) to the back of the head strap (I got the extra battery, so glued to that) to counter-balance the weight of the visor. It helps about 80%. We still have to squat so our heads go forward, so still some strain, but this helped enough that my neck has been able to get stronger without the damage. Now my neck is fine as long as I stretch a little before and after the workout. I hope this can help you too. Neck pain is terrible.

    For transparency Beatsaber has the free music-mapping AI engine Beat Sage for custom songs/levels and infinite replayability. These levels are not designed or voiced by fitness coaches, but are challenging and come in different flavors--free single saber, 90 deg, standard 0 deg, no arrows, and $25/month patreon for 360 deg levels. All levels go from Novice to Expert+, and there's mirror mode in native Beat Saber. I expend the full quest 2 battery and the extended battery without getting bored, burning 1200 calories when setting my weight 125 lb and height to 5.7ft every session thanks to Beat Sage levels.

      If you listen to the one hour interview with the creator (last name Milk) he plainly states that he hates working out and that he wanted to create a platform for people like him: People who dislikes fitness and NEEDS it because of weight, health or whatever.
      What is absolutely amazing about SN is that it has reached precisely those people and this is probably the first time I’ve ever seen that since that Richard Simmons (I think) that used to workout with all types of people (“Sweating to the oldies” was the name ) decades ago. Nobody has been able to get people out of the couch and moving like SN has. And then he explains that when they demoed it (in some convention) they realized that everybody liked it and that they came out sweating.
      It’s truly unique in that regard.

    Yeah, I guess a big part of why it doesn't seem worth it to me is that I'm not new to fitness, I already have a demanding and time-consuming daily regimen, and I don't have a lot of extra fat I need to lose. So for me it's basically just Beat Saber, but not as fun. Better workout, sure, but... As another reviewer mentioned, it's kind of not really even a game at all; it's just a fitness class that happens to be in VR. And it happens to not be the kind of fitness class that I most want to take. I can exert myself as intensely with Audio Tripp cardio mode and Pistol Whip while just having fun playing games. And have been , like almost every day. If you really need to get in shape and need help getting motivated, it could be really great.

    You hit all the points.
    Proper nutrition (I never call it dieting) is vital … for life. While we lose weight, and to keep the effer off forever.
    SN is fun as hell but it’s another workout to add to a balanced schedule. You know me … weights, indoor cycling, run, walk, yoga … all the options and then rest. So many SNers are afraid to miss a day because it will mess up their streak. The body needs rest. Period.
    The power thing … 🖕🖕🖕🖕
    I wish they would remove it. I have seen people saying they “had a great workout even though at the end I was disappointed because the power was low”. WTF? Total downer. I want them to be SATISFIED to the max!! Fitness is such a thrill when we don’t find faults to it.

    Ur advice is simply wrong on some of the takes. Cardio is the best way to lose weight if u were to do one thing. Cardio is great for ur heart, better than lifting. Beginners will be watching this video and u saying cardio is bad is comedic. The HIIT argument is valid but for people who are sedentary it’s not the best. Going from nothing to HIIT will burn people out and make them quit.
    The low intensity of VR is one of the best ways to get cardio in for a beginner.

    lose weight, lose weight, lose weight .... yadda yadda yadda. Cardio is not about losing weight in the first place. It's about cardiovascular health. It's better to be overweight with good cardiovascular health than the opposite. But I guess harping on weight gets clicks, so I suppose there is no use in asking you to take a higher path. For people that don't do exercises that get their heart rate up and SN gets them doing so, it's great.
