    As a polish guy in the UK, I agree wholeheartedly. My solution is that I'm living way below my means. Renting a room and working night shifts, saving 90% of my earnings after what I pay for the room, while building a house in Poland only because I'm blessed that my dad is still alive, retired, happy to help, and used to work as a builder all his life. All these factors had to be aligned for me to have any hope for the future. I say: earn here, invest abroad, learn the language if you dont know it, and retire in a cheaper country. That's the only solution left for people like us in this country.

      @@MR12AMAZINGyou sure arnt winning any Nobel prizes. I agree house prices were a lot less in the 80s relatively speaking but salaries were a hell of a lot less. I started work in 1988 and I got a gross salary of £4,000 per year. I got a tax free allowance of £650 and the tax rate was 33% basic rate. Now the minimum you can get paid for a 40 hour week is £22k and £12.5k of that is tax free.
      Where do you think that money has come from. It’s the people in the middle of their careers. This is why the average wage is so bad.
      When interest rates were low the actual difference between when I bought my house and my salary and the amount I’d have been paying if the situation was moved back 16 odd years was £50. Now with the interest rates back to almost what they were when I bought my house in 2000 monthly payments are insane. But house prices rose because mortgages were so cheap. They were aloud to lend amounts to people with 30 year or more mortgages. Blair’s government deliberately pushed up house prices so he could give the bankers billions. It’s all there in the history books.
      I’m not an actual boomer btw. But before you go slagging them off think about this some of them had to go through rationing of food. They couldn’t afford cars at all, motor bikes were a bit of a luxury. Holidays weren’t abroad but were a weekend by the sea in the uk. Every generation had their own things to gripe about but the constant is that the rich sit there laughing at us while they extract more of our money through mortgages, insurance, etc and make it harder for us to make money. Thats what the Tories were doing and now Labour are going to tax the crap out of things. The country is on a decline.

    • @m19chenzo
      @m19chenzo 2 дні тому +7

      Boomers are the most greedy, selfish generation of them all. You ever met someone who lived through the war? They are usually solid, grounded and generous people who want others to do well. Boomers never went through the war and grew up in an era which was promoting population growth.
      Don't forget, compared to the boomers in their heyday compared to ours - there is around ten million more people now than there was then meaning more competition in job markets, housing demand etc.
      Boomers had it too easy and I'll hold onto that theory until the day I die.

Back in the UK I was earning 70k but had less money at the end of the month than my friends on benefits who had free childcare whilst it set me back 2.5k a month for two children so that me and my wife could maintain our careers that we had worked so long and hard for. We went to see the council to see if we could get any kind of benefit or financial help but we were penalised for having savings, owning a house and earning just over a certain wage. The advisor from the council said that we would be better off if I took a pay cut and we didn't own house or have any savings, then we would be entitled to significant benefits. Fun fact - the average house price in the UK is currently £286,000 if you are expecting a 5% increase year on year (this is what it is currently) in 70 years the average house will cost £8.7 million. This is not sustainable. Now wages, if we put it on the same trajectory as what we are currently at then in 70 years taking the avg salary which is currently £33,000 it it will be £261,000. Out current economic conditions are not fit for purpose. It’s not capitalism to fault, it’s that we are all living in a feudal system hence the name LANDLORD (LORD) being the big guess. Alongside a handful of corporations who own the economy.

Also, inflation is making housing & bills unaffordable. Trust me, move somewhere else. There are other countries that reward hard work and allow you to get rich. Singapore, UAE, India, etc… I run a data company and I’m moving to Turkey because I can hire more people & get a larger office there. 10,000 millionaires are leaving the UK per year and this country is going to become poorer. Also, the average income is also inflated because some statistics only average London's income and London's salary's are inflated compared to the rest of the country. If u wanna live in London on ur Js and u aint got enough p to buy ur either paying 1400 a month or living in a shared house which is still gonna be about 900 but will usually have bills included , just peak if ur landlord is a scumbag that leaves holes in the roof for 5 months or u end up with some dirty cunt that treats the yard like a landfill lol

    Millionaire 30 YO here and I HEAVILY disagree with this. Love your videos my man, but I really think some aspects of this narrative gets us nowhere as a collective.
    Being optimistic about certain things helps:
    - it has never been easier to work remotely
    - it has never been easier to start a business / work freelance
    - it has never been easier to buy liquid capital assets
    - The biggie that I am pushing my youngers for - It has never been easier to learn a trade!
    Doing simple things consistently helps:
    - Buy a property outside the South East (Black people are glued to London and that city is finished)
    - Pay into a pension (salary sacrifice is best)
    The mistake people make is thinking that earning will make you rich. But that has never really been the source the true wealth, not really.
    Historically property has done this for Brits, that's why we w*nk over houses, but now it's the time for stocks / become a tradesman / freelance work.
    Yes it's hard. Tories f*cked it for all of us but there are things that we can do now that we have never been able to do before...
    p.s. this isn't survivorship bias. I still work for 'the man' in a 9-5 and have never earned a high rate salary, but I did all this and am pushing for us as a collective to try and do the same...
    p.p.s. I have seen Atlanta... the houses are made of cardboard.

    One of those who left London for Lagos so will give an informed take here. You're going to need a lot more than N3M per annum to live in Banana Island. Maybe after Lekki Phase 1 so places like Ikate, Sangotedo, Ajah etc that should get you a 1 bed, maybe even a 2 bed for the N3M ($1807) per annum. I live on the mainland and pay N2.5M ($1506) per annum for a serviced studio apartment and meet my all my living costs/going out on N1.1M ($662) per month, without having to touch my savings or investments. I WFH doing a international remote job, 31 years old with 0 dependents and single. My gym and supermarket/market is minutes away from me so have no need for car. Hope someone finds this information useful if they plan on leaving West for Africa.

    • @ednutowaoa
      @ednutowaoa 4 дні тому +2

      @@Yesmayne I feel safe in Lagos. Nobody has ever jumped me for my phone, never been followed home by roadmen here among others. Downsides, you can't rely on police if shit hits the fan here. That's not me saying this is utopia but I feel safe in Lagos because I generally stay in safe areas. Areas which aren't so safe I find myself in, just like I would anywhere not bring attention to myself and be aware of my surroundings. Ultimately though, safety relies much more on company you keep though, in my life experience. Hope this answers your question.

      I make over £20,000 monthly and I came from Ghana. I work as a quant. U have no excuse. U should blame ur parents and urself. I'm enjoying life in the UK as a quant. Also have pubs in Ghana and here and London too. People should complain about why they're messing up and stop blaming it on the country. There are people coming from outside to make money and u're here complaining? It's sad

      @Glass_Nkoaa Exceptions do not make the rule. Jobs in essential services like health care, teachers, police, fire brigade, pay very little by comparison. There is a fundamental problem motivation and ambition aside.
      Also, If you have a pub, you are also dependent on people who likely earn far less than you to spend their disposable income in your establishment for you to turn a profit, so you should go easy a bit. Would you chastise them for spending in your pub instead of saving? Lol

    • @Glass_Nkoaa

      @rd4798 keep making excuses and suffer. I was in Canada recently and people were crying. Their minimum wage for people over 21 is only £9.20= 16.5 canadian dollar. In usa its between 15 to 16 dollars around Newyork area. Keep complaining as u don't know how good u have it. I know of an nhs porter who makes £70,000 annually before tax. His wife also makes £50,000 as a cleaner and they have their son in Ghana. The man has two days off on weekdays but does 16 hours on the other days. I know of nurses making over 6000 daily who work as agency nurse. Those who work as agency nurses in wales make even more. Stop complaining and work hard.

    I've been fortunate enough to be in a position where I was able to buy my own flat in Croydon at a reasonably decent interest rate. It took me over a decade of supporting myself, whilst contributing to the family and living at the family home to achieve this. With the state of absurd student finance payments (They take £500 of my monthly income), tax rates that don't support hustling harder (Check how much you'd be taxed outside of an LTD if you run a side business after earning above £50,000, let alone more), and a job market that doesn't yield accelerated career growth (The job market is the worst it's ever been, despite me being in a high-demand industry), there is simply no choice but to plan an exit strategy out of this country.
