Truly enjoyed this one! Great display of casual commander. I am surprised by how resilient all three commanders were, except Gollum. They all kept coming back.
Unless I'm misunderstanding, I think the better way to play Gollum is to attack an opponent and ask a different opponent the question since it doesn't have to be the person you attacked. That way you can politic. Maybe suggest X person is a problem and convince person Y to make whatever call as you attack person X
Nice to see sauron does work and sticks around, swords subtheme is pretty fun too. Im thinking of building three 99s around sauron, with them being reanimator, amass/flavour and aristocrats.
Id love to see the decks for all three when you're done! I just built my first sauron and its reanimator nazgul but its pretty slow haha im pretty new to magic
I don't think this version of gollum is best used as a voltron strategy, even if it seems fun. The main advantage of this card is providing passive value, riskless attack triggers and a fun minigame for the table. Playing a solid mono black list with Gollum at the helm seems like a way to make goodstuff more interesting, allow some table dynamics and guarantee a consistent source of card advantage. Quietus spike and scytheclaw are the only equipments I'd consider running, although there's a fair amount of other equipments that trigger on attack, which is quite interesting for Gollum.
ooooooh im excited for this! \o/ i've made a Sauron deck myself and am really enjoying him so far!\o/ also that "FUHK YOU SAAAM" had me audibly crack up xD
Made an Aragorn deck so I was happy to see it played here. I'm guessing he kept drawing lands because he drew so much but did so little :( 3:13 Also you can't scoop at instant speed here since the land play doesn't pass priority. :P
Looks like they missed the fact that the 4th Ring ability would trigger twice on the double strike Army token! Ethan could have cast the bant charm, grown the army by one, and taken out Chandler with enough life left to safely overrun!
Commander damage only comes from combat damage so cards like Aragorn, Nekusar, and Heartless Hidetsugu doesn't do commander damage from their abilities
Yep, amass only makes an army if you don't have one already. Otherwise it puts a number of counters on your existing army equal to the amass value. So amass Orcs 2 would put two +1/+1 counters on your army.
Amass got an errata where all amass cards grant the army a creature type. Dreadhorde Invasion is now Amass Zombies 1, so when it amassed onto the orc army, it became an orc zombie army.
@@SmoothBrainEDH This is actually cool and makes sense too. Adding more creature types to your army shows that it's composed of multiple types of creatures. Very flavorful and thankfully makes some older cards better. I think this really cements this version of Sauron as the "army commander".
Hey all just wanted to let you guys know that dreadhored does not make an existing army into a zombie. The difference is that it just says but a 1/1 counter on an army if you don't control one make a zombie army. The new amass orc says the say thing but there is aline of text that says it's an orc.
Nope, amass has been errataed to make it so when you amass the army gains the creature types. So old amass cards are now amass zombies that will turn an orc army into a zombie orc army
This really shows how crap that Gollum is. Having a 50/50 chance to be removed from combat everytime you attack is brutal. If they had to guess a specific card type that would be loads better.
Man, that gollum deck was atrocious. Lets build a voltron deck on a commander that can only succesfully attack like 40% of the time. Truly very smooth brain.
Wayfinder's color i.d. is green because the only color of mana symbols on the card are green. The only thing checked to determine color id are the mana symbols on a card.
i was fully expecting to go this entire game without getting a single bit of value from gollum.
That was a really fun Bilbo deck. Very creative. Even if 111 isn't the goal, the synergy was really great.
To summarize: Gollum is removed from combat

Suck up to Frodo and smack Sam kind of vibe
Amazing episode today, those 19 minutes went by in an instant. GG!
a ton of fun and I'm excited to see more brews with the LotR commanders (feel sorry for Cameron though he just did not have good luck with Gollum)
suture priest is a May ability, Chandler could have not used suture priest in that moment potentially saving him the game
Great game! Super into building some shenanigans with sauron!
3:14 “consider scooping at Instant speed” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can’t wait to see more LotR commander games. Sauron looks amazong

sauron deck looks awesome! this inspired me to build him instead of thr food deck
That was a fantastic game, can't wait till the next middle earth video. Too bad Gollum could not be more tricksy.
A legendary game for the channel
I've only played Sauron in 1v1 so I have yet to witness all that army triggers...
Amass on almost every cast trigger seems pretty strong
Wonderful game! Great stuff
Great game as usual guys.
Every single card Gollum was made into is awesome
Pulled that Aragorn and got so excited

Gezzz, that’s a GG guys!

For Bilbo, sheoldred + peer into the abyss on yourself would be broken
As someone who play's breena and winds up with 20/20's regularly on just 2-4 +1/+1 counters a turn, I knew sauron was going to get out of hand lmao
Pretty sure suture priest is a may ability so Chandler didn't have to kill Ethan. Food for thought
Lack of witch-king but great nevertheless. Love me some mana black voltron
is Aragorns 3 damage trigger commander damage? not that that would have made a difference this game lol just curious
Commander damage only comes from combat damage so cards like Aragorn, Nekusar, and Heartless Hidetsugu doesn't do commander damage from their abilities
Deck list
Wait so when you amass orcs you increase a single army and treat it as one creature with X attack?
Instead of X seperate weak orc armys?
Yep, amass only makes an army if you don't have one already. Otherwise it puts a number of counters on your existing army equal to the amass value. So amass Orcs 2 would put two +1/+1 counters on your army.

Probably missed it somewhere but how did the Sauron army become a zombie in addition to orc one?

They did an errata on the old Amass cards to become "Amass Zombie" and work like the new one, giving the zombie type
@@enkilonde3601 oh that's awesome to know then. Glad that they went about and did that
How is the orc army a "zombie" army as well? Doesn't it just stay an orc army
Nope, amass has been errataed to make it so when you amass the army gains the creature types. So old amass cards are now amass zombies that will turn an orc army into a zombie orc army

Algorithm beats
Sorry but Pemdas
The amount of times i saw players go from single digit life to 50+ was insane and you did not react appropriately in narration

40% of the time it works every time
Ethan shouldn’t have been able to counter Matt’s commander due to Sauron ward ability
Ward only applies to permanents o n the battlefield. Sauron is not a permanent on the stack.
Man that golum deck sucks
I remember seeing the spoiler and thinking it looked like ass

I'm pretty sure the erogon deck can't run wayfinder because it's all colors.
Okay now that you've read the first line of the card, read the next one.

must be really hard being THAT dumb, bro. sorry.
what a surprise. Gollum is dogshit and Sauron is OP
i feel kinda weird that someone tell the game all long, why that formula? kinda weird
