    In my first Vampires game I did play a similar character to this one.
    He was an IT prodigy from rural Sweden who's career skyrocketed. By the time he was 30 he was the funder and CeO of a 6-digit company he created himself focusing on tech support.
    He was born in 1976, meaning the company in queation survived the Dot Com bubble and by 2006 was the big one.
    It should be noted the game took place in 2019, but he was turned in 2015 after a Brujah vampire beat him up and turned him.
    Yes, an IT expert becoming Clan Brujah. Yes it was part of the comedic irony of his existence.

    Another great video, the embrace is such a vital part of a character as you stated and creating a kindred without understanding how he became to be is a huge flaw that plenty of players make.
    As an example my first kindred was embraced by his brother so that his brother wouldn't have to face eternity alone. A kind sentiment in theory but this was actually really selfish. It was a lot more complicated than that but you get the idea.

    • @ThePrimogen
      @ThePrimogen  5 років тому +17

      Your example of an embrace is spot on; every embrace has a story behind it and it's often tragic, even if it wasn't intended to be. Great example of how something can be terrible, even with the best of intentions.
      Thanks for watching!

    An interesting view of the embrace of a Toreador. You might cover this in your clan lore for them, but my understanding was that the artists in particular find the embrace (after the fact) exhilarating. Being able to view the world with preternatural vision, to see the beauty that surrounds us through a whole new set of senses.

    • @ThePrimogen
      @ThePrimogen  3 роки тому +11

      Thank you! Absolutely, the first while post-embrace is most likely a highly productive and energetic period for the Toreador, but many, many of them lose the creative spark after a while, undeath draining them of the same urgency that drive mortals to create.

    Before I die I want to hear about a sire/childe relationship that was actually healthy and genuine (or at least as genuine as Cainites can be).

    • @ThePrimogen
      @ThePrimogen  3 роки тому +10

      I think there's definitely a possibility for it, but if you look at Interview with a Vampire, for example, you can see how even a positive relationship will eventually be poisoned and go bitter.
      I personally think it's part of the Vampire deal for Sires and Childer to eventually fall out, with clans like the Gangrel probably handling it way better than, say, the Toreador or Brujah. But I'm definitely not opposed to good relationships, I just think vampires by their nature just aren't capable of the same kind of love giving as humans are.

      I recently rewatched "True Blood" and the Relationship between Eric Northman and his progeny is pretty much that. Understanding, respect, even love, and a long lasting mutually beneficial partnership. The end of it is more sad and melancholy than bitter; so there is definitely room for that.

    If you truly enjoy a Kine and feel that they help make the world a better place, then for heavens sake DO NOT embrace such a lovely work of art. I usually embrace my rivals future prospects before they get the chance, just out of spite. Its as good a reason to ruin a Kines life as any, also it makes me feel rather good.

    • @ThePrimogen
      @ThePrimogen  4 роки тому +1

      Ahh, but what would Kindred Society be without the spur of the moment embraces that permanently drive a wedge between the Sire, who cannot understand why their object of affection *won't be theirs* and the childer who are horrified at what they have become.

    • @frankparker1191
      @frankparker1191 4 роки тому +4

      It reminds me of those broody Kindred Elders that stock teenage girls, and expect they are going to have meaningful relationships. You are hundreds of years old and you expect to make a deep connection with some valley girl, were you kicked in the head by a Methuselah or something to that effect? That is what I would like to ask those weirdos.

    • @ThePrimogen
      @ThePrimogen  4 роки тому +2

      This is valid for 1st to 5th edition. My videos mostly describe the setting from 1st to 4th (V20) edition. Revised is Third Edition.
      If you want the most accurate lore BEFORE V5, I recommend getting Revised and V20

    • @magmaghost3410
      @magmaghost3410 4 роки тому +2

      took me a minute but now I understand, if I want to relive revised its also good to get the 20th anniversary addition to go along with revised

    • @ThePrimogen
      @ThePrimogen  4 роки тому +2

      @@magmaghost3410 20th Anniversary Edition doesn't cover much of the meta plot, and the Revised-era clanbooks will give you much more information than V20 does.
      You can say that V20 provides breadth and Revised depth. If you want access to more rules, power and clans, I would go V20. If you want to read up more on the Lore I would recommend Revised or 2nd Edition.

    I really appreciate this straightforward digestible format. I've played VTM bloodlines many years ago and only recently grew interested in the table top version.
    This is just my opinion, but I don't see the need to pander to sensitivities with a trigger warning of sorts. The world of darkness is cruel and brutal, a haunting reflection of our reality and human nature. One should already infer they aren't in the kiddy pool any longer before wanting to be offended by the subject matter. Vampires are a personification of wanton savagery barely masked by polite ceremony. Victors don't ask, they take. Woe to the vanquished. Rights only exist for the ones with the strength to enforce it. No room for moral policing or grandstanding. Unfortunately modern outrage culture and the new guard of White Wolf don't seem to understand that, and forcibly try to sanitise it.
