Hello, 'Fish.' I'm a year off, but I'd like to say that I really appreciate your videos, as they've been extremely helpful in aiding me with geography. Question: in your previous video (calculating simple area), you multiplied the sides by the scale. But for irregular area, you did not. Why is this?
Hi Mark, thanks for the positive feedback, I'm glad you found the videos helpful. Regarding your question, I must admit that my video on irregular area was a bit rushed and that's why I'm planning to repost a more detailed video on the same topic. As you have stated, for a simple area, you have to calculate the real distance for each side of the shape. For an irregular area, the method is slightly different. The idea is to use a grid that's made up of squares which represent square kilometers. So if you add up the amount of squares, it tells you how many square kilometers you have. If you use the same grid for a simple area such as a square or a rectangle, you should also be able to count the amount of squares and get the same answer as when you use the method as demonstrated in that video: side x scale, and then side x side. I hope this answers your question.

As a Mizo, I'm very eager to calculate the area of our ancestral and always draws it. But I'm not able to calculate the area which kinda frustrated me.😅😅.

Why did you divide the 4 by 2?
you need to divide the number of squares that are less than half by 2 and then add them all together with the full square and the more than half squre the equation is (full sq + morethan half sq +(less than half sq/2)

Hi, not sure what you mean. What I can say is that it depends on your unit of measurement and. That will determine how you convert the numbers, etc.
