The math term you were looking for was "powers of 2"

I believe they're factors of 2. This message sent from the future.

B beats C in the winners bracket semi final to meet A
B loses to A in the winners bracket final and faces C in the losers bracket final.
If this wasn‘t double but single elimination, A is first and B is second. However:
B beats C in the losers bracket final and goes to the grand final as we know A is waiting.
B beats A in the grand final, to set up an all deciding final match
A now beats B and is finally declared the winner, B comes second.
A little weird but interesting format.

I find it very helpful to hover a team and have it highlighted throughout the entire bracket until it ends how did you do that? was these bracket done in Excel? Thanks

So if I get this right, if seed 2 "throws" early and ends up in losers, he'll have an easier path to finals?

No because you move faster in the winners bracket forward. If seat 2 throws early, 6 straight wins are needed to go to final (prabably playing seeds 10, 5, 8, 3, 4 and 7 along the way). The winners of the first round only need 3 more wins to reach the absolute final. So if seed 2 wins in the first round, he just needs to play probably seeds 7,6 and than of course 1.
