@@FunnystersteThat’s not really true though is it? Remember , just 5-10 years ago when you needed millions of dollars of vfx budget and a big team of talented digital artists to make a digital clone of a specific actor; and it would still look completely fake?
The usefulness of this feature comes into play if Runway learns how to do consistent characters, and makes it possible for users to include multiple characters interacting with each other in a scene. For example, I want to act out a scene with my friends, and have Runway convert that scene into the style I want, while maintaining character consistency in all of the scenes.
@@chariots8x230 that was my main concern about this feature. If we feed the same exact characters into it, (within various different scenes) will this feature keep character consistency? In terms of clothing mainly (since we can use AI face swap to fix facial inconsistencies. Hope that helps out
This is the same question I have had. Can these programs allow certain elements to be maintained across different prompts, or any you always getting the random number generator.
Looks like the pain point is still getting a consistent look across different shots. It's basically a fantastic way of creating stock footage rather than making a movie
Well the good part is that this will def. be one of the features to be improved in the near future so you can just feed the footage back into itself or just drive a new generation. Standalone just as a look dev or storyboard tool, this is already pretty awesome.

You think it's expensive for AI to generate images and videos? Try hiring actors or/and a crew to shoot a scene, and we're not even talking about a set for your scene. You want to go cheaper? You can buy a powerful computer, buy Blender/ Maya, spend years learning how to create and animate a scene. You can also hired a fx artist to create a scene for you, wait for weeks, and hopefully the scene is exactly what you paid for, otherwise, it's a couple more weeks. Is runway perfect? No, but it's a lot cheaper then having to create the video you want from scratch.

As cool as it is… There’s almost no consistency whatsoever between shots. They must ( and most likely will ) add the possibility of adding an image sample to better direct the outcome. That will be a game changer as you can then probably produce anime or graphic novel films on your own
Real live games can be made with simple low poly models, then rendered with ai into any look, if they could do this in live open world games There is no need for any rendering software
Have you tried to shoot your videos in a higher shutter speed? Doing so you will get less motion blur what will make it easier for the program to understand those fast moving frames 👍
I've been an independent video producer for 25 years, this is pretty amazing stuff. The whole thing is fascinating. Don't get me wrong but one super power 25 years of doing this stuff has left me with is an ability to spot little details and nuance that no one else gives a fuck about. It always looks like AI to me. Maybe one day it wont - the continuity of styles between scenes seems to be an issue.
As a 3D animator I can see how useful rendering something at a very basic quality and then outputting that to Runway to be rendered at full quality can be... One of my computers worked for a whole week to render one part of a commercial. So much time saved! What I don't think is useful is the fact that you are not able to pick and choose exactly what you want. Believe me, some clients are TOO SPECIFIC. This will improve as the technology evolves but right now its usefulness is pretty limited.
I've had decades of this, only a tiny minority have a real fine sensibility - most of them only become discerning once they become aware of the level of control.
As a CGI generalist who loves the process of creating, I cannot think of anything more soulless or less inspiring than software which does it all for you. It's great for people who have absolutely no talent, but what kind of artist would get any satisfaction using this stuff?
I'm convinced that your human creative process will stay in demand. We still have pianists, human chess championships, go championships, human-powered vehicles (such as bicycles), while machines can also do these things more quickly, and sometimes even better (cycling, chess & go).
it's also just not a usable replacement. Even if you got a solid image at the end of it, which you don't, the second you want to change things or maintain continuity or consistency across multiple shots it breaks
Yeah I used to think like this. . Then realised its made exactly for the soulless and uninspired.. mediocrity being the path with least resistance. Creativity is not a race to polish.. its the journey.. this isn't Creativity.. its polish.
So true but this is for Gen Z that has no talent and wants instant gratification. They actually believe they "create Art" and can't see the unnatural breaks and flaws in the motion. Probably why they can't tell a man from a woman any more. This low effort low quality works on them.
It's all far too expensive, most of the credits are spent on trial and error. And in the end you get a result that's OK. I'll save my money and see how good it is in a year or two and hopefully it will produce something usable straight away.
The picture made by neuronets is still far away from clear image mady by traditional methods . It looks blurry, smudged, sharpedged and movements are often not natural.

Thanks for your videos, I think you need to go a little deeper in the "how" and "why". For example : the dancing dude in green hoodie have a very bad bluescreen spill around him. This was not made with AI, they just added that flame in SCREEN, HARDLIGHT or ADD mode and used the background separately. If they cheat to promote their firefly module, that means they're not even close to be ready.

AI just interpolates from learned footage, but can't come up with new stuff. The human brain is still smarter than AI and after 100 such movies will easily recognize that this is Runway.
Tried the free version. Its useless. Need to spend yet another subscription for something we don’t even know how to use or if it’ll be any good for us. You’ve got to be a creator already making money from your content before this would be economically viable.
I doubt this product will replace high end VFX. AI video tends to look contrasty and softer compared to the original source. To make matters worse, it even introduces visual errors as seen at 02:12. However, AI can be implemented into existing VFX softwares as nodes that one can drop in to create interesting visual effects while still maintaining quality and consistency.
Thanks a lot for teaching us about all this crazy breakthroughs, what a great summary! Only downnote and it's no regarding technology: let's stop labelling older women as less attractive, please. The younger version is just that: younger. :)
These ‘expensive’ sets using unreal are actually cheap. Especially when you add actual people with skills. When you say this becomes irrelevant with this tool you are simply clueless about the craft in general. It pretty ridiculous. Do not forget. Everyone has a professional grade camera in their pocket. And 99% is still making shitty pictures. These tools are great for anyone that has artistic talent. The tools will never replace talent. So please do yourself a favor and don’t pretend you are a expert. You are showing a tool and still you need examples from other users to make a point. Learn light, learn unreal 3D, learn editing, learn grading. Learn sound design. Learn story telling. Then you will actually be able to create meaningful stuff with these tools. Do not be fooled by AI charlatans that pretend it’s all so easy. Making a great movie is never easy. Everyone can get pretty shots. Only a few have actually vision.
I’m very curious about how AI could be used to enhance video game graphics like in some of these examples here. There was that video and paper done using GTA V and training data from Germany (?) several years ago that was very fascinating and realistic without too much distortion, but I imagine it’ll still be at least several years until we see such technology implemented in real time.
Remember when Star Trek TNG had those scenes in the holodeck where they’d ask the computer to extrapolate from a video or picture and recreate the scene in 3D, and back then that was considered a far distant futuristic technology? Well…
It's amazing technology. It definitely, in my opinion though, feels like creativity with Instagram effects or filters. There's a degree of that which is entirely unsatisfying because the work no longer feels like the bulk of what is being done creatively is by the creator, but rather by the tool. Maybe this will change in time as it becomes more normalized, or for generations who only grow up on these tools. But, wow, creativity feels more rewarding when we do it rather than the tool, I think.
This is the first video I've seen cover the features properly (and Tim did as well) instead of just passing one video through all the preset prompts, great stuff!
@@aisamsonreal Long term I think this shows through because as soon as one piece of news comes out in the AI space, everyone tries to jump on it asap and you end up watching the same non-instructive video several times and it''s definitely starting to grate generally I haven't really seen too many people covering cool prompts they found that - arent' - in the presets for example. - the channels that put extra effort and thought will win out long term so keep it up! *goes out and buys wig.
Working with Runway AI doesn't mean you understand what VFX really is... it certainly doesn't make you an expert, this is a layman's assessment. I think it would be appropriate if you could be honest about your own abilities in that context. A profession in an area means knowledge and understanding on a deeper level. In addition, I would like to say that I like this content and the presentation.
Tried it out. It does some cool things, but so far I've just found it mostly annoying as it doesn't seem to follow prompts well and it tends to change the main character of the video in ways that are ugly/bad/wrong. I'd like the scene to change, but the main character's face to remain the same... it can't seem to do this.
I hate these ai apps and people pawning them more than anything. It’s like giving someone Microsoft paint and making them believe they’re Michelangelo. It’s like giving a kid a dictionary and telling him he is now Dickens.
I signed up for runway, made 3 clips that were like 3 seconds each and then it told me i was out of credits and had to wait another month. Probably the worst rip off in all of ai currently, should have read the fine print more clearly.
Existence is the duality of Purpose (Why/Guiding Force) and Meaning (How/Will Power). Our technologies have replaced so much of our How already that we have very little How remaining in our lives, which leaves us with a shallow and fading Why. AI replaces another chunk of our How, leaving a larger hole in our Why. At this rate humans will soon not have enough Meaning and Purpose to exist, at all.
Creative possibilities here are blowing my mind-from music sampling to imagery sampling, recreating. You could be the actor/actress behind every character created in a film. How about programming in the personality of one person based on all their public content and the looks of another person to create your new character.
Results at any length beyond 3 seconds are frequently stricken with hallucinations that would take work by experienced VFX pros to fix. Not a viable production tool yet, if ever.
Look at the tremendous amount of effort for to disrupt the visual content creation market, is so aggressive you can talk the wonders you want but it doesn't feel trusty.
I'm curious if anyone has tried to copyright any of their video work created with Runway and if there has been any issues with protecting IP created with Runway's AI?
Give AI another 5 years and so many people in the CGI industry will be out of a job. Any bets on when the first AI generated film will be in a cinema??

Thanks for your videos, I think you need to go a little deeper in the "how" and "why". For example : the dancing dude in green hoodie have a very bad bluescreen spill around him. This was not made with AI, they just added that flame in SCREEN, HARDLIGHT or ADD mode and used the background separately. If they cheat to promote their firefly module, that means they're not even close to be ready.
Aw fab video Samson, thanks! The video to video in Runway looks awesome! Need to resub again clearly. It’s a juggling act!
I got that Cogvideo locally. Wow, it's gotten good. Great video as always thanks Samson.
Thanks!
I am CC Subscriber. Where do I sign up to apply for the Firefly Video Beta. Can't see anything anywhere? You mentioned "just go to Adobe Blog page" but you didn't provide any details of the URL in the video or in your video description. Any clues :)
Great video. I love your channel generally. I just thought I'd mention something to you about your reference to Mandalorian (not to correct you, but because you have a curious and interested mind so I figured you'd be interested to know this). You were describing green and blue screen effects when you showed the Mandalorian clips, but their effects work flow is actually a departure from that and have been shooting on a really cool set that is essentially a wrap-around video monitor. Look into it a bit and I bet you'll get a kick out of what they did instead of blue and green screens.
Great video (as always). I really like your channel!
Thanks! I appreciate that, I will take a look
Thank you for your video and for talking about my runway video. 😀
Thanks for your awesome work! I totally recommend checking out Zast on X:

Fantastic video! The new Runway Gen 3 feature opens up endless creative possibilities, offering precise control over video styles and composition. I love how it makes Hollywood-level effects accessible with simple props and low cost. Excited to see all the innovative uses and tips you shared-especially with the examples from the community. Great insights!
You're too obviously an AI. Tone down the fake positive vibe to make yourself seem more realistic.
That is a Fantastic Quote, and I 100% agree with it and your thoughts. Perfectly expressed, my Friend. I really love your updates and manner of speaking. Cheers and Best Wishes to you.
Thank you kindly, this is warmly received!
You lost me at Adobe.
Great info! Favorite part was the excellent quote at the end. 😉
Glad you liked it!
adobe didn't just train it with their stock library... their underhanded tactic also used imagery from every user until the massive backlash.
What a great way to make music videos
If it ain't free and open source, it doesn't matter how good the results are.
This is the first video I've seen cover the features properly (and Tim did as well) instead of just passing one video through all the preset prompts, great stuff!
Thanks, I try to cover things comprehensively instead of trying to be the first
@@aisamsonreal Long term I think this shows through because as soon as one piece of news comes out in the AI space, everyone tries to jump on it asap and you end up watching the same non-instructive video several times and it''s definitely starting to grate generally
I haven't really seen too many people covering cool prompts they found that - arent' - in the presets for example.
- the channels that put extra effort and thought will win out long term so keep it up!
*goes out and buys wig.
Hey, thanks for that! BUT-- I gotta say that Samson wins for best Thumbnail! That is AMAZING!!
@@TheoreticallyMedia We're all going out to buy wigs
Working with Runway AI doesn't mean you understand what VFX really is... it certainly doesn't make you an expert, this is a layman's assessment. I think it would be appropriate if you could be honest about your own abilities in that context. A profession in an area means knowledge and understanding on a deeper level. In addition, I would like to say that I like this content and the presentation.
So, if I understand you right, by "credits" do you mean you have to pay actual money, just to muck about, even though it looks like crud ?
Tried it out. It does some cool things, but so far I've just found it mostly annoying as it doesn't seem to follow prompts well and it tends to change the main character of the video in ways that are ugly/bad/wrong. I'd like the scene to change, but the main character's face to remain the same... it can't seem to do this.
i know how amazing runway is,, all my videos are made because of runway so its highly appreciated lol. Its a game changer
I hate these ai apps and people pawning them more than anything. It’s like giving someone Microsoft paint and making them believe they’re Michelangelo.
It’s like giving a kid a dictionary and telling him he is now Dickens.
an another example to understand why society is becoming all fucked up about 'reality'
*HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR CLIPS LONGER THAN 10 SECONDS? C'MON!*
f*ck em - sigh....I ain't got ANY money to use the damn thing but live to create with such tools
Creative possibilities here are blowing my mind-from music sampling to imagery sampling, recreating. You could be the actor/actress behind every character created in a film. How about programming in the personality of one person based on all their public content and the looks of another person to create your new character.
Nothing stunning tbh. Pretty much all Gen AI visuals look like utter s***
AI is gradually being priced out of rhe reach of normal citizens.
I'm curious if anyone has tried to copyright any of their video work created with Runway and if there has been any issues with protecting IP created with Runway's AI?
What happened to your live video just now it said you removed it?????
I am so sorry, I am going to make it even better
Excellent
It's up now!
Christ on a bike! This is now like dream sculpting…wow!
not paying for any ai product, it should be free and benefit all humanity like promised!
Give AI another 5 years and so many people in the CGI industry will be out of a job. Any bets on when the first AI generated film will be in a cinema??
welcome to the world of EVERYONE ONLINE IS A CUN...AT FISH
There was absolutely no need for that "joke" about the middle eastern man... 7:17
Shטt up, Muhammad
Imagine this in 10+ years, everything will change...
Once this is running real time in games it's a done deal. RTX 6000 series let's hope
When I go to examples I do not have the same options. All I see are things like "a person in the crowd".
Now we are going to have careers for people who can do this because not everyone can afford to use it.
10 CREDITS FOR 1 SEC?! thats too much...
We are going to witness such an unprecedented avalanche of utter and complete trash in terms of video entertainment (I mean, yes, even worse)
Going to fix GoT and Star Wars etc in a few years. Just saying.
AI grosses me out of the creative process. Seriously.
Great video. Thanks for the inspiration!
"in this video, im gonna" blah blah blah
thats ALWAYS what noob ass tubers say
dont say that!
its filler
I CLICKED ON THE VIDEO TO SEE SOMETHING
SHOW ME THAT
I NEED A SUMMARY BEFORE THERES ANY CONTENT IM GONNA LEAVE
AND ILL GET THE INFO ELSEWHERE
literally all im looking for is the name of the AI again so i can look it up somewhere else where
they wont jerk me around
I lost you on your first sentence.
