At the end of the movie all the children gets factory Augustus to he will not be turned into fudge and get turned into a chocolate bar he would be yucky😖
poor Augustus! he missed out on so much of the tour, he barely got to see anything! but hey, at least he got a behind the scenes tour of how the chocolate is transported throughout the factory :-D
The suction would also remove all the air from inside the tube and move it to the chamber above. Augustus would suffocate during the song, or at the very least he would drown after once he's in the chamber full of chocolate.
Well you guys might actually be right about the obesity problems it’s most likely if a child were to gain weight during childhood and once they reach adulthood they gain far too weight to handle at least that’s my theory
This 2005 film of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is INCREDIBLE! So much more catchy, visually-beautiful, and true to the novel. Roald Dahl hated the original movie in the 1970's....he even hated it so much that he didn't allow its name (forced it to be called Willy Wonka instead).
I find it funny in both versions how Wonka is angry that Augustus is touching his chocolate, but when he gets sucked up the pipe, he's like, "Eh, whatever."
People say this movie should be about Charlie instead of Wonka but, really, I'd like to know about the guy who made TV chocolate real, made CANDY GROW, and so much more things we could really use now! So.... poor kid who got lucky or man who was never loved as a kid and made miracles?
Has anyone noticed that his mouth is fine? I'm sorry, but don't you think that if your drowning in a chocolate river, it's going to get on your teeth? Unless... Is he... Is he drinking the chocolate that enters his mouth? He was drinking and breathing in liquid chocolate, but his teeth are fine? He really is a black hole, everything that enters is never seen again.

Hate me for saying this, but I think the Oompa Loompa songs in this version are far superior to the "original." Think about it, the only reason those old songs are memorable is because of the nostalgia. If Willy Wonka came out today, would those songs really hold up? Hell no, their very one note. Listen to Danny Elfman's great score, not only does he write each song in a new style, but these are very catchy and brilliant.
Huge fan of Wonka, and I love how we are all talking about the physics of this scene. But has no one mentioned it's melted chocolate? He'd be scalded before he had to worry about suction and drowning.
+Ian Borton "people? every drop of the river, is HOT, MELTED CHOCOLATE of the finest quality. and do you like my meadow? place have a blade, please do. it's so delectable and so darn good lookin'" so yeah.
+Ian Borton maybe it's not boiling and maybe that's why the chocolate stuck to him as we see at 1:16 and why would he be drinking it if it was burning him
+Coral Roper Ofcourse, they are not "Human" preferably. Even though they have humanoid features..Besides, they wear gloves and a skin-tight suit, don't they?
I recall an extra verse in this song, right between the lyrics "cogs begin to grind and pound" and "this greedy brute, this louse's ear": "We'll boil him for a minute more Just to be absolutely sure Then out he comes, By God, by Grace A miracle has taken place A miracle has taken place"
I didn't see it in the theater, but I remember seeing it on TV when the movie first aired on one of the Starz channels. When I bought the DVD, the lyric was missing.
also in the blueray version at 3:05 the oompa loompas sing a line that goes like this "we'll boil him for a minute more, til were absolutely sure, then out he comes by god, by grace, a miracle has taken place, a miracle has taken place"
A boy is drowning in chocolate, sucked into a pipe, and about to be turn into chocolate. What do you do? A) Call for help B) Follow the Oompa Loompa to get him back C) Sing a song
I love how Wonka tells Augustus that his chocolate cannot be tpuched by human hands, yet a bunch of Oompa Loompas jump in, and Wonka has absolutely no problem with it.
+guy-manuel de honhonhon croissant It's not a remake of the 70s version, it's its own separate adaptation. Plus the 70s version was also somewhat dark and so was the book.
Yeah in the original they can't save him because he gets sucked into the pipe before anyone can do anything. In here his own mother could've dived in to save him and I'm sure Wonka could've stopped the pipe. But as the scene shows he's like "yeah I don't care so I'm gonna let this kid go"
i like this version, but for some reason i felt more sorry for the original augustus. he wasnt a bad kid he was just a little overweight and when he fell into the chocolate river no one helped him except charlie but it was a failed attempt and this augustus got what was coming to him. remember when they were in the hallway and augustus asks charlie if he wants some chocolate and when charlie said sure, augustus replied "then you should have brought some" see what i mean?
I saw this movie in theaters after reading the book. As soon as the Oompa-Loompas started singing, I cheered! As much as I love the 1971 movie, I never liked the Oompa-Loompa songs there. I love this version, not just for being faithful, but for for how catchy each one is. Is it as memorable as the 1971 Oompa-Loompa songs? Maybe not, but I liked how it dove deeper into why each child got his/her comeuppance rather than gloss it over.
Because he is blocking the tube, shouldn't a vacuum be created? So he wouldn't have been able to breath, and he would have passed out 15 seconds later due to lack of oxygen to brain.
Probably some sort of safety feature on the pipe. Or maybe it was deliberately programed to stop him until the song was over, and it give him air during the pause.
Richard W. They used cgi to creat the scene of him going half way. Then when he is stuck its real. After the song, he gets sucked up all the way which then goes back to cgi
it's probably the nostalgia factor they got from the old one. The original was their childhood, so they feel the need to lash out at the new one, even though it wasn't even bad.
I love how they put physics into it, and make a whirlpool around the pipe, and the chocolate is oerfect, but in the first film, the chocolate's like brown water.
When your claustrophobia kicks in and seeing Augustus stuck in a the see-through pipe makes you uncomfortable. When I first saw this I remember being really anxious when he was kind of drowning in the vat of chocolate. xD

I love how the 'Loompas say he will not be harmed, yet also imply he's about to be turned into fudge. Damn they are good at insults.
At the end of the movie all the children gets factory Augustus to he will not be turned into fudge and get turned into a chocolate bar he would be yucky😖
i like how the parents in this movie just stand and watch and do nothing.
They couldn't do much
The Mom couldn't do much. She was upset of course but the pipe save him from drowning.
before the pipe came they could swim to save him
by the way i was HORRYFIED BY THIS MOMENT
GodZILLa8I3 We had to do everything......
Wonka's face in this is just like: "God damn it. Will these people ever listen to me? Jeez."
It’s like that every time something happens to one of the kids
"I do say that all seemed rather rehearsed"
(Wonka looks uncomfortable)
+PyroGothNerd He says that they _don't_ seem rather rehearsed.
No, he says it does, because Mike asked "How did they know this would happen?" and Charlie added "How did they know his name?"
+Augustus Gloop stop
.....we....just.......assumed..........?
Heard of improvised?
Just imagine almost drowning in a chocolate river and then a parade of elves dancing while you suffer.
No Augustus Gloops were harmed in this video.
+Matt Vlogs Although he was altered quite a bit...
True, but he did get covered in molten chocolate.

His fault for being greedy and deciding that the chocolate river was part of the dessert buffet.
Musig Gender Roulette:
"Augustus Gloop" - '40s mambo.
"Violet Beauregard" - '70s Blaxploitation funk.
"Veruca Salt" - '60s psychedelic rock.
"Mike Teevee" - Early '80s Progressive Rock
The 80's is my favourite
I did like Mike Teavee's theme
Oh damn I never noticed
"The chocolate mustn't be touched by human hands!"
*Oompa Loompas swim in chocolate river
He didn't say human, he said people "of course they're real people, they're oompa loompas"
....
Here is why Augustus already messed up the batch so there playing with it
UltraZombie115 that actually makes complete sense
oompa loompas aren’t technically human they’re people but not humans “they’re oompa loompas”
The pressure of the pipe suction would probably shatter both his ear drums and give him a nose bleed lol yolo
Nose bleeds, the real horror XD
+Josh Jensen Suction does tend to give "nose bleeds", so I suppose it fits! ;)
Yes
The suction would also remove all the air from inside the tube and move it to the chamber above. Augustus would suffocate during the song, or at the very least he would drown after once he's in the chamber full of chocolate.
And I bet Augustus' arms probably went temperaliy numb due to being in that tight spot in the pipe.
This should've been a PSA for childhood obesity.
True dat
LOL True.
Augustus is virtually a satire against the fat acceptance movement.
Well you guys might actually be right about the obesity problems it’s most likely if a child were to gain weight during childhood and once they reach adulthood they gain far too weight to handle at least that’s my theory

its already contaminated so its no use worrying anymore
Augustus Gloop: Gluttony
Violet Beauregarde: Pride
Veruca Salt: Greed
Mike Teavee: Sloth
Charlie Bucket: Envy
Dr. Stylish no Charlie is happy for what he has.
Lisette Garcia I think the Charlie from the original would probably fit envy
Lisette Garcia eh I can’t say he was too happy he wanted more but could be content
Dr. Stylish I feel he fits wrath more in this remake but sloth in road Dahl version along with older version in the musical kind of a mix
You did it wrong its
Augustus gloop is greedy
Violet Beauregarde pride
Veruca salt spoiled
And
Mike teevee rude
Oh god, imagine having to do a retake. Augustus's poor actor had to take so many showers for this movie.
Fact: The movie is based on dark chocolate because Willy Wonka has a dark sense of humor
lol always cracks me up. "The great big greedy nincompoop."

It could be a mix of cocoa solids, sugar and milk, doesn't have to be molten chocolate. Perhaps that happens later on in the process.
Apparently it's okay for the chocolate to be touched by Oompa Loompa hands.

"We'll boil him for a minute more

I feel like they all would have died-- especially in this scene. and I love how no one cares.
That's the beauty of Roald Dahl.
Jameson Holbrook Veruca is the only one who would have survived if this movie was real. The other three would have died.
I love how Wonka tells Augustus that his chocolate cannot be tpuched by human hands, yet a bunch of Oompa Loompas jump in, and Wonka has absolutely no problem with it.
Also why is Augustus covered in chocolate and the Oompa Loompas are not

at first when they said "and gets a lucious bit of fuuuuuuuuudge!" i thought it was: "and gets a lucious bit of fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!" xD

Of course he can't swim. He's too heavy. He'd drawn while even trying to swim.
Nice to see how the other parents, and grand parent care for Augustus as he falls into the chocolate river.
Did anyone notice this scene could resemble an alien abduction? The top of the pipe has a ufo-like shape and is "capturing" him.
I did
I saw the design more as the "rip off Dr Seuss" theme they were going with.

Well, Augustus deserved what he got. Gluttony got the best of him.
Still they could've put a rail up next to that river.
I'll literally crap my pants if I was stuck in the tube. and Im thin And I would get scared and screaming for my mom
To be fair if you got stuck, but you pooped, maybe your shat would be a good enough loss of weight to go all the way through the pipe. :D
That is true
Lily Gaming depends how fat you are
this movie is my fav.
Because he is blocking the tube, shouldn't a vacuum be created? So he wouldn't have been able to breath, and he would have passed out 15 seconds later due to lack of oxygen to brain.
Not only that, but it would still be sucking up.
